Live at York Museum Gardens: All you need to know
York's Museum Gardens is set to play host to a series of live concerts over the next three band Elbow will kickstart proceedings later, with support from Ripon-born singer-songwriter Billie Marten and folk group Eliza Carthy & The Restitution, from Robin Hood's Friday Nile Rodgers & Chic will take to the stage, while Saturday will see Richard Hawley celebrate 20 years of Coles Corner, with support from Mercury Prize winners English Teacher, BC Camplight and Hamish of the shows, here is everything you need to know about accessing and enjoying the three major gigs. How do I get there and where do I park? Organisers have encouraged concert goers to arrive by public transport where possible, with York Station only a short walk away and bus stops close to the public parking will be available near to the site. Both Bootham Row and Marygate car parks are close to Museum Gardens, while Esplanade car park is just across the river. What can I bring? There are strict requirements for what you can bring to the concerts, with several items prohibited. Attendees can bring a refillable plastic water bottle no larger than 500ml and one 500ml unopened plastic bottle of water. However, no other food and drink can be brought in, other than for medical or religious reasons. A bag smaller than A3 size can be brought in, but will be subject to goers are not allowed to bring glass items, alcohol, large professional cameras, recording equipment, chairs and foldout blankets or large sports umbrellas. Organisers say that once you leave the site you will not be permitted to re-enter. Gates open at 17:00 BST for each event. The public will have restricted access to the gardens during the day. Erykah Badu's Woozy Flirtation, and 9 More New Songs

Erykah Badu and the Alchemist, 'Next to You' Erykah Badu floats some companionable requests — 'I wanna take walks with you,' 'I wanna just talk with you,' 'I can't wait to see you after school' — in this leisurely, woozy, increasingly hypnotic track. The Alchemist's production gathers countless layers of Badu's vocals, with and without lyrics, but places most of them at a distance, for a happy tangle of inner voices. Brittany Davis, 'Sun and Moon' Brittany Davis, a blind, nonbinary pianist, singer and songwriter based in Seattle, recorded their second album, 'Black Thunder,' leading a classic jazz piano-bass-drums trio. 'Sun and Moon' reaches back to Nina Simone for its husky, organic, bare-bones dynamics. This six-minute song rises ever so gradually, affirming everyday pleasures; 'In the sun, my heart is full of joy and light,' Davis sings. 'In the moonlight, I'm thankful for the blessings of the night.' The track has a jammy, improvisational feel, with serious purpose behind it. Billie Marten, 'Clover' The English songwriter Billie Marten calmly savors tensions and contradictions in 'Clover': 'You're raining heavy, I'm almost dry / I'm only learning to love you right.' The tempo is relaxed; keyboards plink and twinkle through mild dissonances. It's affectionate but watchful: 'Don't push me over, I'm half your size,' she admonishes. Kehlani, 'Folded' Kehlani dramatizes the most reluctant of breakups in 'Folded.' Yes, she's waiting for her ex to 'come pick up your clothes,' neatly folded. But this isn't the door-closing scenario from Beyoncé's 'Irreplaceable.' Kehlani urges, 'Meet me at my door while it's still open' and notes, 'It's getting cold out but it's not frozen.' Descending chords, a string section, little guitar licks and Kehlani's voice all convey a world of regret and a chance to reunite. Cari, 'Luvhiii' Cari Stewart-Josephs, an English songwriter, surrenders to infatuation in 'Luvhiii,' from an EP due July 10. 'You hit me like a truck,' she sings, 'And I never will get enough.' A loping bass line, jazzy piano chords and a faraway but insistent tambourine arrive, enfolding Cari's multilayered vocals in a trip-hop haze as she succumbs. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

A night with Elbow at Cardiff Castle, goosebumps and all

More info I'm a bit guilty of not really making the most of the live music we have in the capital often enough. This summer, as is becoming the norm, there's something for everyone in terms of gigs in Wales' capital. Sting, Will Smith, Stevie Wonder, Stereophonics? Oh, and a group of fellas from Manchester, you might have heard them mentioned. But the one I knew I wanted to see was Elbow partly because they're the exact sort of band the venue calls out for. As part of this summer's TK Maxx presents Depot Live at Cardiff Castle they were joined by The Coral and Billie Marten. This night, there was a weather warning for thunderstorms and there was a mass arrival of ponchos and waterproofs required partway through the set. I'd listen to Guy Garvey in most places. His haunting, effortless voice is, many years of music in, nothing short of lovely. The castle really is a special venue and suited them down to the crowd. The last time I went to one of the Depot Live gigs at the castle I saw a Faithless DJ set and it lends itself to a jump around just as much as a sway to Elbow. In a set just shy of two hours, Elbow performed 20 songs, mixing old and new. Starting with 2008's Starlings, he quipped some of the material to come would be older than some audience members. Next came Lovers Leap. Other tracks included Lippy Kids, Magnificent, Kindling, Mirrorball and Seldom Seen Kid. But they could only close with One Day Like This, a song so beautiful, even the rain stopped in time for us to enjoy it in all its glory. Garvey apologised for his voice being not 100% but it wasn't noticeable from where we were. It was never going to be a raucous gig, but even the most mellow of tunes were brought to life by the band, with a seemingly endless supply of instruments and vocals to boot. Garvey knew how to get the crowd growing, a vocal warm up for the final, goosebump-inducing number was a lovely touch. An effortlessly talented band who seem to still love what they do, one day like this a year really would see me right. Rock band to perform at popular Glasgow's Saint Luke's
The Clause - best known for songs like Sixteen and Where Are You Now? - will be performing at Saint Luke's in the East End of the city. The gig will take place on December 13 and comes as part of the band's 2025 UK tour. It also comes after the band's support slots for groups like DMA's and The Snuts. Speaking on the upcoming album, frontman Pearce Macca said: "This record is soaked in the culture of growing up in the UK. It carries the echoes of wild nights and fragile mornings, broken relationships and faded ambitions. There's no pretence here—just four young heads trying to make sense of it all. This is the sound of feeling lost and insignificant in a city that doesn't slow down, and the fight to rise above it. The emotion is real, raw, and loud."
