Notes: Dan Campbell talks how special Detroit is as a sports town
Detroit Lions' coach Dan Campbell is a popular guy these days. Just a few days ago, he joined 96.7 am in Dallas to discuss how much he loves being in Detroit. We love you too, Dan. And while he still has some free time before training camp kicks off for Detroit later this month, he jumped on, 'The LiucciCast,' hosted by Billy Liucci over on the TexAgs YouTube channel. Advertisement Early on in the show, Liucci lets viewers and listeners know that he and Campbell are close, and you can certainly tell. Campbell, who is typically very comfortable talking to whoever, seemed especially at home talking with his old friend. The two talked about a ton of different subjects in the nearly hour-long episode. From their time together at Texas A&M, to Campbell's coaching and playing journey that led to him to Detroit. 'You go to Detroit right now, and it's in the building, in the tunnels, it's whoever is getting on and off the elevator,' said Liucci of the feeling in the city after the first playoff win back in 2023. 'It means a lot you know, and I have said this before, but I had my eyes open to this place when I played here,' said Campbell. 'Oh my god, this is a sleeping giant. This could be one of the best places ever to come and play and be a part of this. They love their Detroit Lions, they love sports. It's just waiting. If you could just get everything aligned properly, bring in the right pieces, the right people—this could be something special.' If you have the time, I highly recommend giving the entire interview a listen or watch. You can watch the entire episode right here. And now, onto the rest of today's notes: Advertisement Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston wrote about Lions' linebacker Grant Stuard's perspective on football, as well as his annual youth football camp. Congrats to Lions' rookie guard Miles Frazier on his recent engagement. One of my favorite moments from the series right here. Lions' rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa joined, 'Up & Adams,' with host Kay Adams to discuss his Lambeau Leap aspirations in Week 1. More content from Lions' All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and running back Craig Reynolds' trip to Germany. More from

Texas A&M will reportedly play rising Big 12 team during the 2025 season
Texas A&M will reportedly play rising Big 12 team during the 2025 season Sources: Texas A&M will play at Oklahoma State as part of its 2025-26 non-conference schedule im year one under @BuckyBasketball . The date is set for November 9th, at Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU will play a return game at Reed Arena in '26-'27. — Billy Liucci (@billyliucci) June 2, 2025 Texas A&M's 2025 basketball season is poised to be one of the most exciting campaigns in program history, as new head coach Bucky McMillan brings an exciting play style that Aggie fans have not seen since Billy Gillispie led the program almost two decades ago. After bringing in nine players from the transfer portal, the 2025 Aggie basketball team is talented enough to compete for an NCAA Tournament bid in 2026. McMillan's coaching staff is now all but complete. While he will likely add one or two more players from the transfer portal before the season begins, we can now focus on the out-of-conference schedule, which will reportedly include a matchup with Oklahoma State in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday, November 9. The Cowboys are one of the more respectable programs in the Big 12, and despite several down years, they always provide a competitive showing. Like Texas A&M football's home-to-home matchup with Notre Dame, culminating with Week 3's road match against the Irish this coming season, Texas A&M will host Oklahoma State during the 2026-2027 season, providing both teams a chance to protect home court. Like McMillan, Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz is one of the up-and-coming young coaches in the country. While his first season resulted in a 17-18 finish, his future is bright after bringing in six transfers this offseason. The Cowboys are expected to be competitive in the Big 12 next season. Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's 4-1 series loss to Missouri on Saturday
Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's 4-1 series loss to Missouri on Saturday Texas A&M (27-21, 10-16 SEC) is likely out of contention for the NCAA Tournament after dropping this weekend's home series vs. the last-place Missouri Tigers, who, after coming back to win Game 1 9-6 on Friday night, secured a dominant 4-1 victory for the program's first series win of the season, and first in College Station since 2006. Entering the weekend, Texas A&M's postseason hopes were hanging on by a thread, needing at least three to four SEC wins to secure a spot in the regional round, but even if the Aggies win on Sunday, they'll likely need to sweep Georgia on the road, which is highly unlikely. However, if that happens, does this team still deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament? This all remains to be seen, but things do not look good right now. Mustering just two hits on the day, the Aggies' offense, outside of four home runs produced six runs on Friday night, has been non-existent, and, outside of Caden Sorrell's game-winning three-run home run against LSU last weekend, Texas A&M's would have lost that series as well. The fact that the offense heavily relies on the long ball to score runs is not sustainable, and will not produce another series win if the Aggies can't hit at an efficient rate, and it is much too late to change things up. As they say, when someone shows you who they are, believe them. After the game, Aggie fans and media members responding to the series loss: This narrative will be popular this week An underrated part of the Aggies' poor play It's actually pretty similar if we're being honest The truth really does hurt I'm guessing the comments are positive This is likely the scenario that needs to happen Progress? I don't believe this will be the case This is what happens when you lose to a team that was 0-24 in SEC play before this weekend Right on point It truly is an absolute failure in every facet of the word Billy Liucci's take Yes, yes they do Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions.
