Wayne Rooney could make return to management at surprising club
Wayne Rooney could be set for a surprising return to management after his disastrous run with Plymouth Argyle last season. He won just five of the 25 games he was in charge for at Home Park before the axe fell on New Year's Eve, with Plymouth bottom of the Championship and destined for the drop. Even so, the 39-year-old is now reported as being lined up as a target for non-league side Macclesfield. Fellow former Manchester United player Robbie Savage is currently head coach at Macclesfield and led them to an authoritative promotion from the Northern Premier League last season, when they topped the 100-point mark. Should Savage, who has been the subject of interest from National League club Forest Green Rovers, vacate the managerial role Rooney is being lined up as his replacement. Rooney took up his first managerial role with MLS side DC United in 2020 before having spells at Derby County - where he was praised for his ability to navigate a sinking ship off the pitch - and Birmingham City which was as unsuccessful as his time with Plymouth. In 15 games he suffered nine defeats and managed just two wins. He was sacked in January 2024 and Birmingham were relegated to League One at the end of the campaign. Speaking to the media after his participation in charity match Soccer Aid, Rooney refused to speculate on his future as a manager saying: "Obviously just doing some TV work at the minute, so that's what I'm doing, I'm enjoying it. So, that's where I'll be." Macclesfield will compete in the National League North in the coming season.

Coleen oozes beauty in bikini as Wayne Rooney debuts head-turning transformation
Former footballer Wayne Rooney sported a very unusual hairdo as he enjoyed his sunny Ibiza getaway with wife Coleen, who looked gorgeous in a two-piece bikini Wayne Rooney made sure to reference his fellow football icons as he holidayed with his stunning wife Coleen. The Manchester United legend, 39, decided to take inspiration from David Beckham and Erling Haaland as he relaxed in the Ibiza sun. Cheeky Wayne, 39, showed his fun side as he rocked a very unusual hairdo under his black cap while sipping drinks with Coleen and former Manchester United star Michael Carrick. Wayne was seen with a braided blonde lock coming out the back of his cap, which looked strikingly similar to Haaland's updo and Beckham's once-long ponytail. But, unlike his footie pals natural locks, Wayne appears to have taken a more unusual method to transform his hair – with the help of a curtain tie! The former footballer appeared in high spirits as he chatted away to his pals and took time to pose for selfies with fans. It seemed Coleen was impressed with Wayne's new look as she laughed away while lounging in the sun. The I'm A Celebrity star, 39, looked sensational in a black two-piece bikini as the couple enjoyed some well deserved time together without their four kids. She made sure to keep cool by sipping on fruity drinks and sported a pair of large black sunglasses. Coleen also topped up her sun cream throughout the day as she enjoyed spending time with Wayne and their friends. In a sweet moment, Wayne planted a kiss on Coleen's head proving their love is as strong as ever. Earlier in the week, Coleen rocked a zigzag patterned matching bikini as she walked along the sunny beach with her long brown locks tied into a loose bun. She arrived at the beach house in her bikini and a brown crocheted cover-up. The TV star also had all her personal items in a large Prada tote bag. At one point, she was pictured sitting down on the lounger to top up her tan while Wayne was elsewhere on his phone. He was seen carrying what looked to be a packet of snus tobacco pouches in his hand. Their current Ibiza holiday follows a rocky year for both, with Wayne recently stepping away from his managerial role at Birmingham City, and Coleen focusing on family life and her successful brand ventures. It seems the break has come at a good time for the couple, who have been married since 2008, as they prepare for their children to take the next step in the spotlight. They are said to be making sure Kai is "protected" from fame, with the teenager already having a glittering football career ahead of him. Coleen and Wayne also have sons Klay, 11, Kit, nine, and Cass, seven. However, Coleen is wary of her sons being thrust into the limelight at a young age, after witnessing how fame affected Wayne when he was just 16-years-old. She has been a constant support to Wayne despite their marriage being on the brink in 2017. It came after reporters discovered the ex-footballer had been pulled over behind the wheel of another woman's car while he was three times over the drink-drive limit. Wayne met Laura Simpson at a bar before joining her for a drive in her VW Beetle. During her Disney+ documentary, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, Coleen said: "I've had that feeling in my stomach a few times and I would never wish anyone to feel that. "You do think, do I actually know this person, when things like that happen. Y'know, you're not the person I married and the person I want you to be." But having put their troubles behind them, Coleen and Wayne are back on track. They are clearly enjoying each others company on their Ibiza getaway and are embracing the chance to unwind with each other.

Birmingham dangerous driving documentary made due to 'fear'
A documentary maker has created a film that highlights the personal stories behind car-related violence on Birmingham's Sarah Chaundler, who is behind City of Cars, said she decided to make the film "out of fear and frustration". The documentary features the family of Mayar Yahia, a four-year-old girl who was killed by a car in Birmingham last year. Speaking at the premiere held at The Mockingbird Cinema on Thursday, Ms Chaundler said: "I have my own children and I felt very unsafe as we moved around the city." The film's release also comes one year after a city-wide road safety emergency was declared by Birmingham City journalist added: "I saw drivers, and I still do, on mobile phones, drivers jumping red lights, drivers speeding with just no thought of who was on the pavement."And I was frustrated because I didn't see enough was being done."Ms Chaundler said she hoped her film would bring "change" and for Birmingham to "get to grips" with road safety. Also speaking at the premiere was Mat MacDonald, the road safety commissioner for the West Midlands Combined Authority. He said: "I think this is an absolutely phenomenal film and what it does is tell stories that would otherwise be swept under the carpet."
