LPA inside PAR develops into TD Crising
The low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a Tropical Depression on Wednesday, according to PAGASA. "As of 8:00 AM today, 16 July 2025, the Low Pressure area (LPA 07f) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into Tropical Depression "CRISING,"" PAGASA said in its 10 a.m. advisory. Crising was last spotted 780 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 50 kph. It is currently moving west at 35 kph. PAGASA said that rains may be expected around the country as a result of the Southwest Monsoon and the effects of the typhoon. Residents in the areas expected to be affected by the weather systems are advised to be on alert for possible flash floods during severe thunderstorms. Crising will be the third typhoon to enter the PAR in 2025, following tropical cyclones Auring in June and Bising in July. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

LPA outside PAR still has high chance of becoming tropical depression
The low pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) still has a high chance to develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday. In a 10 a.m. update, PAGASA said the LPA was located 1,960 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon as of 8 a.m. "As of 8:00 AM today, 11 July 2025, the Low Pressure Area (07d), outside the PAR, has a HIGH potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours," PAGASA said. Meanwhile, another LPA, which is a remnant of Tropical Cyclone Bising (international name: Danas), remained outside the PAR and is unlikely to redevelop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. PAGASA said in its 24-hour public weather forecast that the southwest monsoon or habagat is expected to affect the country. Occasional rains are expected over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro. Flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate to heavy rains. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may be experienced in Metro Manila, Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas. Flash floods or landslides may occur amid moderate to at times heavy rains. Also, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over the rest of Luzon. Flash floods or landslides may happen during severe thunderstorms. — VDV, GMA Integrated News

PAGASA: 'High' chance for LPA outside PAR to become tropical depression
The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high potential to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said. As of 8 p.m. Thursday, the LPA (07d) was located 2,070 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon. Meanwhile, another LPA (07c) that is also outside of PAR only has a medium chance of becoming a tropical depression, said PAGASA. The said LPA was last monitored at 820 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon as of 8 p.m. Further, an LPA that is a remnant of Tropical Depression 'Danas', or locally known as Typhoon Bising, remains outside of PAR and is unlikely to redevelop into a tropical depression again. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that one death was reported in Metro Manila due to Bising and the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat. The said fatality is still being validated. Meanwhile, 42 areas were submerged in floodwaters due to the rains brought by the storm and the Southwest Monsoon. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News

OCD: 42 areas flooded due to Bising, Habagat
At least 42 areas were submerged in floodwaters due to the rains brought by Typhoon Bising and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) said. In Oscar Oida's report in '24 Oras' on Thursday, the OCD said the northern portion of Luzon was the most affected by the rains. 'Ang affected talaga ay Regions 1, 3, CAR, Region 2, and of course, kasama ang NCR. Generally, northern Luzon po ang apektadong lugar,' said OCD officer-in-charge Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV. (The affected were Regions 1, 3, CAR, Region 2, and of course, NCR. Generally, it was northern Luzon that was heavily affected.) Of the 42 affected areas, the OCD official said 35 are still flooded. The floodwaters have subsided in seven other areas. Alejandro said Blue Alert status is still in place. The impact of the bad weather was evident in many areas. For instance, a landslide occurred at a portion of a rock shed that was being constructed in Kennon Road near Baguio Medical Center in Baguio City. Also along Kennon Road, a large tree fell causing traffic and power supply interruption in the nearby barangay. Meanwhile, residents in Laoag, Ilocos Norte were surprised by the sight of a tornado. State weather bureau PAGASA said the tornado was caused by the thunderstorm due to Habagat. The downpour also caused knee-deep floods in some portions of Baseco Compound in Manila. The rains affected 44 hectares of newly planted rice in Mlang, Cotabato, the barangay council estimated. Data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) showed that one death was reported and still being validated in Metro Manila due to 'Bising' and Habagat. There were 32,606 families or 103,274 individuals affected by the typhoon and the Southwest Monsoon, based on NDRRMC figures. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
