In the FIR, Sarkar's mother Madhabi said that on May 2, 2021, eight persons barged into their house at Narkeldanga around 3 pm and started enquiring about her son. The miscreants alleged that the Sarkar family had illegally occupied rooms belonging to the Railways and started beating up Abhijit, leaving him unconscious. Biswajit and his family members had earlier alleged that Trinamool Congress supporters had killed his brother and that Pal had a role to play in that.
In March 2024, Biswajit Sarkar threatened to sever ties with the BJP after seven members from Trinamool, who were allegedly involved in the murder, joined BJP. In protest, Biswajit covered a 'sahid bedi' erected by the party in memory of his brother with a white cloth. His mother also returned Rs 5 lakh, which was donated by the party to the family after the incident.
On Wednesday, Biswajit said he named a few more Trinamool leaders. "I hope that these persons too will be brought to the docks eventually," Sarkar said.
