Wrexham: Scout group given more than £2,500 by housebuilder
The 1st Rossett Scouts, who have 60 members, were given the donation by Castle Green Homes as part of the company's Mission Green scheme. The funds will be used on resources for building wildlife habitats, litter-picking kits, and promoting the health and wellbeing of the group's members. The scouts will use the money to build safe habitats for wildlife, ensuring ecosystems in the area continue to thrive. Scout leader Angela Hardwell said: "As part of our badge work, the scouts needed to undertake a project to support local wildlife. "We thought it would be lovely if we could provide homes for hedgehogs, birds and insects. "The donation has meant we have enough boxes to be circulated around our catchment area including woodland." The group's leaders had asked the scouts what activities and badges they would like to earn next. They decided to look at ways they could help and improve nature. The donation will allow every young person in the group to help make the boxes and place them in the local area. Ms Hardwell added: "We have also purchased litter picking equipment and other resources to promote health and wellbeing for our group including new camping equipment that will be used on a planned group camp next year. "This trip will enable our young people to experience nature and the environment also whilst learning new skills."
