A personal stylist (and mum) shares the two comfiest pants you can own

This story is part of the July 20 edition of Sunday Life. See all 13 stories. Each week, we quiz a prominent person about their style and the inspiration behind it. Ahead, personal stylist Liv Brown. How would you describe your style? I wear lots of patterns – I feel most myself in animal print. There's always something oversized, and heaps of fun accessories. What's the oldest thing in your wardrobe? My mum's wedding ring and some of her old handbags. A black leather bag with silver studs from the '90s is a favourite. And the most recent addition? A Blanca matching denim set – jeans and an oversized shirt – in black-and-white zebra stripes. Sets are easy because I feel put together without having to think. What would you wear … on a first date? A denim set with kitten heels and my fluffy Mane by Stable 'Sheila' bag. … on a plane? I know people are into their airport fits, but I just go comfy in sports leggings, a colourful, oversized Jungles Jungles hoodie and my Nike 'TN' sneakers. … on the red carpet? I'm dying to wear a custom dress by Melbourne designer Van Der Kooij. Loading What's your favourite fashion era? The 1960s for the miniskirts, chunky boots, shift dresses and prints. Who are your favourite designers? Locally, its Blanca, Van Der Kooij and P.A.M. (Perks and Mini) for their cool graphic tees. European brands I like are Stine Goya for the prints and great bags, and Baum und Pferdgarten for the cool Scandi vibe. I also love Ganni – it's cool and feminine but not 'pretty'. What's your fragrance of choice? I wear Rabanne 'Olympea'.

The elephant was hit with the bullets and wounded, but guides were unable to prevent the attack and both women tragically died at the scene, cops said. The South Luangwa National Park sits in eastern Zambia, roughly 370 miles from the capital Lusaka. Female elephants are renowned for being extremely protective of their babies and can respond with aggression to what they may see as threats. Last year, two tourists from the US were killed in separate encounters with elephants in Zambia. The elderly women were on safari vehicles when they were attacked. In January, a Spanish tourist has been killed by an elephant she was bathing at a sanctuary in Thailand. Blanca Ojanguren García, 22, was washing the animal when it gruesomely drove its tusk into her. The attack caused injuries from which Blanca could not be saved and the student later died. Blanca was bathing the animal at Koh Yao Elephant Care centre on the island of Yao Yai, Clarin reports. She reportedly passed in front of the animal when it attacked. Blanca, from Valladolid in northwest Spain, was a student at the University of Navarra and was in Thailand travelling. She was with her boyfriend at the time. Navarra University said it 'expresses its sorrow' for García's death and 'shares the grief of her family and asks for prayers for her soul.' Blanca had been on exchange and living in Taiwan when she had travelled to Thailand for a holiday. Washing elephants is a popular activity at some sanctuaries in Thailand. Experts told Clarín the elephant had likely become stressed due to interacting with tourists. Some 4,000 elephants live in sanctuaries, national parks, and nature reserves in Thailand.

It was Spain. 1492. But it couldn't happen here, or now - could it?

BAFTA-nominated Nicholas Renton directs Into the Melting Pot which stars leading actor of the stage and screen Suzanne Ahmet (Generation Z (Channel 4), Ludwig (BBC), Marvellous (@sohoplace)) and critically acclaimed music and theatre company The Telling. The half concert/half play where music and theatre collide tells the story of a Jewish woman caught up in the conflict of 1492 and channels the stories of women of other faiths. It will tour to Cottiers Theatre, Glasgow on 9 May 2025, as part of a UK tour. Into the Melting Pot is by award-winning writer and The Telling's Artistic Director, Clare Norburn. Another one of Norburn's concertplays, Vision, about the extraordinary medieval Abbess Hildegard of Bingen, received critical praise. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Clare says, 'Into the Melting Pot may be set in the past, but it's extraordinarily relevant to contemporary issues right now. Somehow by looking through the camera of the past, I hope we might be able to see the present more clearly. The story of a Jewish woman forced to leave her home in 1492 is startlingly contemporary; it is has echoes in issues people face right now: the rise of Anti-Semitism, how members of the Windrush generation have been treated and refugees fleeing Ukraine, Afghanistan and Gaza. My character Blanca cries: 'This is our home! My family, my roots in Seville go back hundreds of years. Just where do they think they are sending us back to….?'' Suzanne Ahmet as Blanca the Jewish woman. Photo by Robert Piwko Into the Melting Pot follows Blanca (played by Suzanne Ahmet), a Jewish woman facing expulsion from Spain and setting sail for an uncertain future as ordered by the Spanish Catholic Monarchs in 1492. At twilight on her final night in Seville, Blanca tunes into the voices of a community of Jewish, Christian and Muslim women from across the Spanish peninsula. Her story echoes down the ages to the personal stories of people of all faiths affected by politics and war today. Down the centuries, women's stories of integration, love, the rich cultural heritage of the Spanish peninsula and racial intolerance are played out to a soundtrack of plaintive Sephardic Jewish songs and lively medieval music, with full staging and stunning lighting. The Telling are taking the concertplay to Cottiers Theatre, Glasgow on 9 May 2025 as part of a UK tour. Tickets for the Glasgow performance are available to book via
