Woman charged with impeding apprehension of driver allegedly involved in Stephen's Day hit-and-run
Nicole Fallon (35) is the second person to be charged following the deaths of husband and wife Anthony Hogg and Georgina Hogg Moore. A Dublin woman has been charged with impeding the apprehension or prosecution of a driver who was allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the lives of a couple of St Stephen's Day. Nicole Fallon (35) is the second person to be charged following the deaths of husband and wife Anthony Hogg and Georgina Hogg Moore in Blanchardstown last Christmas. Mr Hogg, 40, and his wife Georgina, 39, were struck while crossing a road near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre at around 5.45pm on December 26, 2024. The couple, married with children, lived in the nearby Whitestown area. John Halpin (45) is currently before the courts charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of the couple, as well as failing to offer assistance at the scene. John Halpin is charged with dangerous driving News in 90 Seconds - Tuesday, July 29 Both Mr Halpin and Ms Fallon were further charged when they appeared before Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday. The court heard they are facing trial in the circuit court after the DPP ruled the allegations were too serious for the district court. Judge David McHugh adjourned the cases to September for the service of the book of evidence. Ms Fallon, with an address at Whitestown Avenue in Blanchardstown, is charged with unlicensed and uninsured driving at Whitestown Avenue in Blanchardstown on December 26, 2024. Detective Garda Niamh Crowe gave evidence of further charging Ms Fallon with two new charges. It is alleged that Ms Fallon, knowing or believing that another individual committed an offence, namely dangerous driving causing death, did "without reasonable excuse an act with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of the said person". The second new charge alleges Ms Fallon did an act with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of a person while "knowing or believing that person had breached their duties in relation to the occurrence of an accident with intent to escape civil or criminal liability". Garda Shane Wood gave evidence to Blanchardstown court of further charging Mr Halpin with four new charges. Mr Halpin is accused of failing to stop a vehicle, which was allegedly involved in causing injury to Mr Hogg and Ms Hogg Moore. He is also charged with failing to offer assistance to the couple with the intent to escape civil or criminal liability. Gda Crowe and Gda Wood said gardai had no objection to bail being extended to the new sheets. Gardai said the DPP had directed trial on indictment in the circuit court on the charges. Defence solicitors Tertius Van Eeden and Aoife McNicholl said there was consent to an adjournment to a date in September. The accused have not yet indicated how they intend pleading to the charges.

Separately, Kelsey Melia (36) produced a fake driver's licence at the scene of a road accident. Judge David McHugh convicted her and fined her €200 when she appeared in Blanchardstown District Court charged over the two incidents. Melia, with an address at Watermark Building, Ashtown, Dublin, admitted using a false driver's licence, theft and possession of a foil-lined bag for use in a theft. The licence she produced was false and she stated she bought it online for €300. She went to Boots in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre last January 10 and stole €721 worth of cosmetics. Melia was 'a young lady with a number of problems' and was attending addiction support, her solicitor John Wood said. There was a letter in court from her parish priest and she was about to start a community employment scheme. The judge imposed the fine on the theft charge and took the rest into consideration. Former footballer Scott Capper jailed for wheelie on wrong side of road
Scott Capper's football career was ended by a serious leg injury in his teens, and he turned to drugs A talented former footballer jumped on a scrambler bike in front of a garda station, before driving off and doing wheelies on the wrong side of the road, a court heard. Scott Capper's football career was ended by a serious leg injury in his teens, and he turned to drugs. At one stage, Capper (31) was taking up to €500 worth of cocaine a day, a court previously heard. Judge David McHugh fined Capper €500, disqualified him from driving for five years and jailed him for five months. The defendant, with an address at Cappagh Green in Finglas, admitted uninsured and dangerous driving. Garda William Bowes told Blanchardstown District Court that he came out of Finglas garda station on April 21, 2024, and saw Capper climb onto a scrambler bike. Gda Bowes said Capper drove through a yield sign, and turned onto Barry Drive where he did a wheelie on the wrong side of the road. Gda Bowes said Capper was driving at high speed. On Barry Road, Gds Bowes said that Capper went through two roundabouts on the wrong side of the road, forcing other road users to get out of his way. The court heard that Capper has over 50 convictions, most recently in 2021 when he was jailed for two and a half years for stealing almost €50,000 in a cash box from a security worker. He also has previous convictions for uninsured and dangerous driving. Defence solicitor Simon Fleming said Capper grew up in the Finglas area and is one of seven children. Capper, who was not working, lived at home with his parents, Mr Fleming said. The court heard that Capper was in custody on the matters and Mr Fleming asked Judge McHugh to backdate the sentence to when his client first went into custody. Judge McHugh said he would backdate the sentence. A court previously heard that Capper was a promising young footballer but his career was ended by a ligament injury in his late teens and he started hanging around with the wrong people. Scott Capper was previously convicted for stealing €50,000 Today's News in 90 Seconds - July 28th
