All That's Known About Alexander Skarsgård and Girlfriend Tuva Novotny's Very Private Love Story

THE RUNDOWN Alexander Skarsgård is known for playing enigmatic, unpredictable characters—from Eric Northman in True Blood to Lukas Matsson in Succession. When it comes to his real life, the award-winning actor prefers to keep things quiet. That discretion extends to his relationship with Swedish actress and director Tuva Novotny. While it's unclear when exactly they started dated, the pair was first romantically linked in 2022 and have since welcomed a child. Skarsgård confirmed the news of his baby in March 2023 after he was seen out with his firstborn in November 2022. Below, everything to know about Novotny, Skarsgård's partner and mother of his child. Novotny, 45, began acting professionally at age 16 , but her exposure to the arts started far earlier. 'I wasn't pushed; I was inspired,' she told Vogue Scandinavia in 2024, recalling how she directed plays with her siblings and grew up immersed in music, painting, and theater. Since then, she has racked up an extensive list of acting credits, including roles in Eat Pray Love, Annihilation, and more. She's also made a name for herself behind the camera. Her film Blind Spot (2018) explored mental health and family trauma. The project—the first film she has directed—earned her the New Talent Grand Prix at Copenhagen's CPH PIX Festival that year. 'Blind Spot refers to what we don't see in our everyday life,' Novotny said in a 2018 interview with the Golden Globes. 'Where we can be surprised about what is going on in people's lives, where they go around smiling and pretending that everything is fine, and they are actually having a very difficult time. That is the blind spot that I am referring to.' Novotny had built up directing experience before doing the project, working in TV: 'I always knew I wanted to direct, but I wanted to make sure that I was [ready] for it,' she explained. 'Ten years ago, some friends of mine asked if I could direct a few episodes of a Norwegian TV series, and they brought me onto their next project. This was very good as a self-esteem enhancer. And after those TV series, I decided that either I do TV for the rest of my life or it is now that I decide to do my own things. I took a year off and started writing a couple of scripts. [I] wrote a series for a Norwegian channel so it kind of happened organically but also at a point where I felt it was the right moment.' She went on to direct more films: Britt-Marie Was Here (2019) and Diorama (2022). 'After Blind Spot and Britt Marie Was Here, I felt safer about directing small or bigger-budget movies and taking on new creative challenges,' Novotny told Variety in 2019. Novotny is the daughter of Czech director and writer David Jan Novotný and Swedish actress and artist Barbro Hedström. Though Novotny's early exposure to the creative world was significant, she told Vogue Scandinavia that her career path felt natural. 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree,' she said. In April 2022, Novotny appeared pregnant at the Swedish ELLE Fashion Awards, though she did not publicly confirm the news at the time. Months later in November, the couple was photographed in New York City pushing a stroller, adding fuel to speculation they welcomed their first child. While at the Succession season 4 premiere in March 2023, Skarsgård confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, saying, 'Thank you very much,' when congratulated. He then held up a stuffed animal he had just been gifted, adding, 'I got this on the red carpet.' A few days later, he offered a more specific confirmation to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, revealing that they had a baby boy. 'We have a son who is eight months old now,' Skarsgård said. In a May 2025 interview with The Times, Skarsgård reflected on how parenthood changed his lifestyle. 'It's been an adjustment for someone who's a selfish asshole like myself,' he said. ''I'm so used to being able to go somewhere on a whim, take a job, like, 'Oh, seven months in the Kalahari Desert? No problem.' Now your priorities obviously change, and you have to take other people's needs into consideration. It takes a lot more planning to make it work because I still love to work, but it's about finding that balance.'' He also referenced his role in helping to raise Novotny's children from a previous relationship: 'I have two teenage stepdaughters, so it's not like they can come with me and be out of school for six months.' Despite her extensive resumé, Novotny tends to avoid media attention. 'I don't see myself as a public person,' she said in her 2024 Vogue Scandinavia profile. 'For many years, I wouldn't do interviews; I wouldn't watch my own stuff.' She added, 'My job is public and then what I do outside of work is super private.' Vogue Scandinavia wrote that Novotny previously had an Instagram account for work but has since deleted it. Novotny has spoken about balancing her creative ambitions with motherhood. 'It's super important that you keep yourself intact, and that's difficult being a parent,' she told Vogue Scandinavia. Noting that she has 'always worked through parenthood,' Novotny added, 'Work for me is a place where I feel inspired and I meet people—there's that social aspect. Bringing that back home is a good thing for parenting—for me, at least. Only being a parent sometimes can be claustrophobic.' She also acknowledged the changes in the industry since she began acting as a teenager in the '90s. 'It was a different time,' she said. 'It was sexy times, and they wanted me to be sexy.'

New Bruce Springsteen 'Sunday Love' will spark a romance with orchestral pop

Bruce Springsteen's got the 'lover's blues' on the new song 'Sunday Love,' but Boss fans should have a new romance thanks to the musical gem. 'Sunday Love' (listen here) is the latest preview single from the upcoming 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' box set, due Friday, June 27. The new track was released Thursday, June 12, and it's part of the 'Twilight Hours' lost album. 'Sunday Love' draws inspiration from the '60s orchestral pop of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, with a more specific reference being their great pop classics with Jerseyan Dionne Warwick. The Boss delivers a vocal tour de force on the track, weary of heartache but optimistically bracing for a second chance at romance. The 'Twilight Hours' songs were written in tandem with 2019's 'Western Stars' over the course of a decade. 'At one time it was either a double record (with 'Western Stars') or they were part of the same record,' said Springsteen in a statement released on Thursday. 'I love Burt Bacharach and I love those kinds of songs and those kinds of songwriters. I took a swing at it because the chordal structures and everything are much more complicated, which was fun for me to pull off. All this stuff could have come right off of those '60s albums.' 'Twilight Hours,' according to Shore Fire Media, 'finds Springsteen taking inspiration from the vocal work of Frank Sinatra and Andy Williams, the prose of Flannery O'Connor and James M. Cain, and the Robert Mitchum film 'Out Of The Past'.' The track 'Sunday Love' features contributions from Max Weinberg, Patti Scialfa and Soozie Tyrell, producer Ron Aniello, and 'Western Stars' collaborators Kaveh Rastegar and Scott Tibbs. 'Sunday Love' is the sixth song to be shared from 'Tracks II' following 'Adelita' from the lost album 'Inyo'; 'Rain in the River' from 'Perfect World'; 'Blind Spot' from 'Streets of Philadelphia Sessions'; 'Faithless' from Faithless'; and 'Repo Man' from 'Somewhere North of Nashville.' Springsteen's upcoming 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' includes 83 songs from the seven unreleased albums recorded between 1983 and 2018. Bruce Springsteen Shares ‘Faithless' From Soundtrack to Unmade ‘Spiritual Western'

Twenty years ago, Bruce Springsteen was approached by a filmmaker about creating the soundtrack to a 'spiritual Western' called Faithless that had yet to be filmed. He began penning material for it at the conclusion of the Devils and Dust tour in late 2005, and wound up with 11 songs, including four instrumentals. But the movie never went into production, the songs were placed in the vault, and not even the most devoted Springsteen fan that ever existed. The complete Faithless soundtrack is finally coming out June 27 as one of the seven discs on Tracks II: The Lost Albums, and the title track was shared with fans on Thursday. (The movie remains unmade, and the filmmaker behind it remains unknown.) 'This was a really unusual collection of songs,' Springsteen says in a statement, noting that he wrote the songs at his home in Florida over a period of just two weeks, even though the movie was little more than an idea at that point. 'You could recognize details and maybe a character or two. But for the most part, I just wrote atmospheric music that I thought would fit.' Record of His Dreams The album is largely a solo project, but there are appearances by Patti Scialfa, producer Ron Aniello, E Street Band violist Soozie Tryell, and longtime background singers Lisa Lowell, Curtis King, Jr., Michelle Moore, and Ada Dyer. Springsteen and Scialfa's two sons, Sam Springsteen and Evan Springsteen, also contributed to the album. 'Faithless' is the third Tracks II: The Lost Albums track that Springsteen has unveiled over the past three weeks. He's also shared 'Rain in the River' from his late 1990s/early 2000s LP Perfect World, and 'Blind Spot' from his infamous shelved 1994 'drum loop' album, which is now known as Streets of Philadelphia Sessions. 'The Lost Albums were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released,' Springsteen said in a statement when the project was announced. 'I've played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I'm glad you'll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.' Springsteen's last live appearance took place on April 26 when he joined Smokey Robinson, John Fogerty, Tom Morello, Jackson Browne, Nils Lofgren, Darlene Love, and Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul for an incredible night of music at the third annual American Music Honors at Monmouth University. On May 14, he kicks off a European stadium tour in Manchester, England. It wraps up July 3 in Milan, Italy. Bruce Springsteen Jams With John Fogerty, Tom Morello, Smokey Robinson at American Music Honors

The American Music Honors, an annual event organized by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center, took place Saturday at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey, this year honoring Smokey Robinson, John Fogerty, Emmylou Harris, Tom Morello, and Joe Ely. Every honoree with the exception of Joe Ely was on site to receive the award, as well as perform their classic songs with help from Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, Bruce Springsteen, and surprise guests Jackson Browne, Nils Lofgren, Nora Guthrie, and Darlene Love. In other words, an all-star event on par with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was staged in front a mere 714 people on a college campus, and there's no plans to air it on television. Fortunately, phones were allowed, and there's lots of fan footage. (Let's give a special shoutout to Dr. Marty Jablow for his great camera work.) Record of His Dreams Brad Paisley on That Time Charley Pride Surprised Him at the White House Former NBC News anchor Brian Williams was the host for the evening, and Springsteen personally delivered the induction speeches for Ely and Fogerty. In a revival of some of the best moments from the 2004 Vote For Change tour, Springsteen performed the Creedence classics 'Bad Moon Rising,' 'Proud Mary,' and 'Fortunate Son' with Fogerty. Springsteen also covered Joe Ely's 1995 song 'All Just to Get to You,' and teamed up with Smokey Robinson for 'Going to a Go-Go,' Jackson Browne for 'Take It Easy,' and Tom Morello for 'The Ghost of Tom Joad' and 'Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.' At the end of the night, everyone from the show came back onstage along with Darlene Love and Nora Guthrie for 'This Land Is Your Land.' The Woody Guthrie classic was a regular part of Springsteen's live show in the Eighties, but it's become a rarity these days. He last performed it in 2013. Next month, Springsteen and the E Street Band head over to Europe for a run of 16 stadium shows. And on June 27, Tracks II: The Lost Albums – a collection of seven complete records Springsteen recorded between 1983 and 2018 – is finally coming out after years of feverish anticipation. The Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, staring Jeremy Allen White, is also due out before the end of the year. It focuses on the creation of 1982's Nebraska, and also stars Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Gaby Hoffmann, Marc Maron, and Stephen Graham.
