The Fourth of July is almost here. Here's where to see fireworks in Rhode Island

As June comes to an end, the country is preparing to celebrate the Fourth of July, and many towns in Rhode Island are preparing special fireworks shows, parades, concerts and more to celebrate the holiday. From the historic month-long celebration in Bristol to a full night of live music in East Providence to breathtaking fireworks over the water in Newport, the Ocean State has plenty of fun-filled events perfect to ring in Independence Day this year. Here is a list of free fireworks shows and parades around the state to check out this Fourth of July. Block Island When: Fireworks at dusk on Tuesday, July 1; Parade at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 4. Where: Fireworks will be shot off of State Beach. The parade starts at The Oar, 221 Jobs Hill Road in New Shoreham, and ends at the rotary by the Statue of Rebecca. Details: Put on by Ocean State Pyrotechnics, the Block Island firework show can be seen from anywhere on the island. The 40th annual parade, with the theme "Block Island Lore and Legends," will include various floats, cars and musical acts. Bristol When: Fireworks on Thursday, July 3 at 9:30 p.m. Parade on Friday, July 4 at 10:30 a.m. Where: Fireworks will be set off over Bristol Harbor. Parade begins at the corner of Chestnut Street and Hope Street and ends on High Street. Details: As America's oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration, Bristol celebrates the holiday with a variety of events from Flag Day through Independence Day, concluding in a huge parade on July 4. Coventry When: Friday, July 4 at 9:30 p.m. Where: Johnson's Pond, Coventry Details: While the Coventry town celebration has already passed, the Johnson's Pond Civic Association once again host a fireworks show over the water. Everything to know about Independence Day Cumberland When: Friday, July 4 at 11 a.m. Where: Parade starts on Route 120 and ends between Nate Whipple Highway and Abbott Run Valley Road. Details: Cumberland will again celebrate Independence Day with their historic Arnold Mills Parade, full of food, music and awards. East Providence When: Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m. Where: Pierce Memorial Stadium, 201 Mercer St., East Providence, RI Details: East Providence's celebration will include food and beverage concessions along with live music from El Bebesito de la Salsa, Midnight Metaphor, Brother to Brother Band and 19th Nervous Breakdown. Jamestown When: Sunday, July 6 at 7 p.m. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Where: East Ferry Landing, 1 East Ferry Wharf, Jamestown, RI Narragansett When: Thursday, July 3 at dusk. Where: Narragansett Town Beach, 39 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett, RI Summer in RI: Here are 10 summer festivals in Rhode Island to attend this year Newport When: Friday, July 4 at 9:15 p.m. Where: Newport Harbor, Newport, RI Details: For the best view of the fireworks, find a westward facing spot along Newport Harbor. Popular viewing spots include Perrotti Park, King Park, Queen Anne Square and Fort Adams State Park, where the celebration will include lawn games, a bouncy house and live music. North Kingstown When: Thursday, July 3 at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks start at dark. Where: Town Beach Complex, 10 Beach St., North Kingstown, RI Details: Food trucks and live entertainment are included. North Providence When: Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Where: Governor John A. Notte Jr. Memorial Park, 1801 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, RI Details: Hosted by Mayor Charles Lombardi and the North Providence Recreation Department, this celebration consists of live entertainment and concessions from a food court, followed by a fireworks show. Boating season: Here's your checklist to get your boat ready for summer in Rhode Island Pawtucket When: Saturday, July 5 at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks start after 9 p.m. Where: Festival Pier, 21 Tim Healey Way, Pawtucket, RI Details: After Rhode Island FC's home game at Centreville Bank Stadium on July 5, they will put on a fireworks show, and the city of Pawtucket is celebrating at Festival Pier with live music and food trucks. Additional viewing location available on Division Street Bridge. Portsmouth When: Saturday, July 5 at 9:15 p.m. Where: Escobar's Farm, 133 Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI Details: The annual firework show at Escobar's Farm will include hayrides, a tractor show and a concession stand. Head to the back of the property for the best view. Providence When: Wednesday, July 2 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Where: India Point Park, 201 India St., Providence, RI Details: Hosted by Mayor Brett Smiley and the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, Providence's annual Independence Day celebration will include family fun, live entertainment and over a dozen food trucks. Scituate When: Thursday, July 3 at 5 p.m. Fireworks start at dusk. Where: Hope & Jackson Fire Company, 117 Main St., Hope, RI Details: The Hope & Jackson Fire Company is back with their annual fireworks event, with food and activities starting at 5 p.m. and fireworks starting at dusk. Find out here Smithfield When: Tuesday, July 1 at 4 p.m. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Where: Deerfield Park, 39 Lisa Ann Circle, Greenville Details: In addition to fireworks, the Smithfield celebration will include food trucks by Ocean State Food Truck and music by Cover Story. South Kingstown When: Friday, July 4 from 5-9:45 p.m. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Where: Old Mountain Field, 831 Kingstown Road, Wakefield, RI Details: The Annual South Kingstown 4th of July Celebration will feature a variety of food and novelty concessions, a 50/50 raffle and a live concert, all followed by a fireworks spectacular. Warwick When: Thursday, July 3 from 9-9:30 p.m. Where: Oakland Beach, Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick, RI Details: The main parking area for the fireworks display will be on the O'Hara Baseball field, with secondary parking at the Oakland Beach Boat ramp or on nearby streets.
