HEMLOCK TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State Police are investigating the disappearance of a Columbia County woman. 33-year-old Katlyn Harp from Hemlock Township went missing last Thursday. She was last seen at her home near Bloomsburg. Hemlock Township Police initially began the investigation, but the State Police Criminal Unit from the Bloomsburg Barracks took over the investigation on Sunday. Convicted child murderer dies in prison Harp's family and friends have taken to social media to get the word out about her disappearance. They say it's not like her to not communicate with them and simply go silent. The disappearance of a Columbia County woman is now the focus of a state police investigation. Family members say she would not just walk away from her home and her life without contacting someone in her family. They just want answers. According to state police, Harp was last seen at her home on Fairview Drive in Hemlock Township a 7:30 pm last Thursday June 19. Her home is located between Bloomsburg and Millville near Route 42. We went to the home to try and speak with her husband, but no one answered the door. We did see a state police cruiser traveling slowly on Fairview Drive. What, if anything, the trooper was doing in the area is not yet known. A state police spokesperson tells me that they will not make any comment on the investigation, only to say, it is a very active investigation. The I-Team has also confirmed that the family was planning a search for Harp Thursday, but called it off to let the state police handle any searches. HEMLOCK TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) were at the home of a missing woman in Columbia County Saturday. The State Police confirm their Forensics Unit and other troopers searched the Harp home on Saturday as part of their ongoing missing person investigation. They are trying to locate Katlyn Harp, a mother of five. 28/22 News was able to obtain video taken earlier Saturday at the Harp home located at 20 Fairview Drive in Hemlock Township, Columbia County. Investigation underway for missing woman in Columbia County It's located near Bloomsburg, just off Route 42. The forensics van could be seen, as well as other unmarked state police cruisers. Katlyn Harp was last seen at her home on the evening of Thursday, June 19. As 28/22 News has been reporting, the state police have searched other locations in recent days, although they have not identified those locations. A state police spokesperson tells 28/22 News they cannot comment on Saturday's search so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation. A family member told 28/22 News Saturday they just want to find Katlyn and that she would not just walk away from her family and not communicate with them, especially her sister, and they just want to find her. They say she lived there with her husband. 28/22 News went to the home on Thursday, but no one answered the door. PSP urges anyone with information about the case to contact them. COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We are learning more tonight about the State Police investigation into the disappearance of a Columbia County woman. 33-year-old Katlyn Harp was last seen at her home near Bloomsburg last Thursday. State Police say that at this point in time it's being handled as a missing person investigation, but they do confirm with 28/22 News that they have conducted searches for Harp We are learning more tonight about the state police investigation into the disappearance of a columbia county woman. 33-year-old Katlyn Harp from the Bloomsburg area went missing last Thursday. The I-team's Andy Mehalshick is working the story. The I-team has confirmed that the state police have brought a lot of resources to bear in this investigation to find Harp. Her family says, the mother of five, would never just walk away from her life. 33-year-old Katlyn Harp was last seen last Thursday, June 19 at her home on Fairview Drive in Hemlock Township, that's near Bloomsburg. Hemlock Township Police launched the initial missing person investigation, the state police took over the case on Sunday. A Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson tells the I-team the have conducted searches in recent days at yet undisclosed locations. Those searches included the use of aviation, k-9's, drones, the state police, special emergency response team (SERT), and pennsylvania game commission officers and their ATVs. We saw a state police cruiser driving slowly by Harp's home on Thursday. I spoke with Jessica Norris, Harp's cousin. She says they are holding out hope that she is okay. 'The family in my opinion is trying to stay calm and positive on the outcome of finding her, but we are all obviously devastated and just mentally and emotionally exhausted. We all just want to find her,' said Norris. I asked norris if her cousin might have left on her own accord: ' as far as her going off on her own, no she would not have done that and not have contacted someone by now,' expressed Norris. Harp's disappearance has gone viral online with many people offering opinions and what might have happened, if anything, to her. Norris told me: 'We are very appreciative of the community's support and efforts in trying to piece these clues together and find her, but at the same time there is so much speculation being posted online it is making it hard to determine what is factual and what is hear-say, but we don't want to discourage the public from continuing to help.' I went to Harp's home in Hemlock Township Thursday to try and talk with her husband, no one answered the door, harp is the mother of five children. Hanna has announced that he will be stepping down from his position at the university at the end of July and assuming a new position with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). On Tuesday, April 29, the university released a statement disclosing that Hanna will step down from his position as president of the university on July 31, 2025, to take on a new role as vice chancellor for strategic initiatives for PASSHE. No confidence shown from faculty, coaches toward Commonwealth University president after vote In his announcement, Hanna highlighted his time serving as the first president of Commonwealth University, which was established in 2022 following the integration of Bloomsburg, Mansfield and Lock Haven universities. 'Serving as your president has been the greatest honor of my professional life,' Hanna said. 'Together, we have laid a strong foundation for Commonwealth University's future, and I look forward to seeing CU continue to thrive.' Commonwealth University faculty, coaches, to take no-confidence vote on university president Additionally, Hanna expressed gratitude and excitement to continue supporting public higher education across Pennsylvania in his new role with PASSHE. 'This new opportunity is both humbling and exciting-a chance to bring the lessons we've learned together at Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield to a broader stage,' Hanna said. In the release from the university, it was noted that Hanna led the integration of the three universities into Commonwealth University, making it the most affordable State System institution, improving graduation rates, narrowing equity gaps and securing record-breaking philanthropic support. CU-Mansfield online fundraiser raises over $80K to support students During his time as president, funding for the Bloomsburg University Foundation nearly doubled to $90 million and the Mansfield University Mountaineer Foundation was launched.
