Boardwalk Empire's Michael Pitt releases accuser ex's alleged texts admitting to lying and rape fantasies
Michael Pitt has released screengrabs of alleged texts from his unnamed ex-girlfriend, who accused him of sexually assaulting and abusing her on four separate occasions between 2020-2021, which led to his subsequent arrest on May 2. The 44-year-old Boardwalk Empire alum posted $15K bail at his arraignment and pled not guilty to first-degree criminal sex act, third-degree criminal sex act, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of second-degree attempted assault, and second-degree strangulation. In the new legal docs obtained by TMZ on Thursday, Michael asked Judge Joanne Quinones to allow him to travel internationally 'where he makes most of his money' and claimed 'the original bail package was based on a gross misrepresentation of the facts.' Pitt's attorney Paul Townsend shared in the court papers alleged texts his accuser sent a female friend in April 2021, which began: 'When I came over to your house last year after I fought with Michael, I said that he has hit me and that he sexually assaulted me. That's not at all what happened.' 'I've always flirted with this sexual fantasy of rape and violence because I've never actually experienced it. It made Michael uncomfortable because he knew I didn't really understand what it was and so he stuck his finger in my a** one night because he knew I didn't like it. That was it and we laugh about it now,' she allegedly confessed. 'It's not a joke to accuse someone of these things and I'm sorry I haven't corrected this before. I've blamed him for a lot of things that weren't his fault. When we first met I know I made it seem like it was his fault I was cheating on Josh with him and then with Nick the manager from the Great Gatsby party. 'BTW, I told him that I cheated on Josh with Jah and PJ to p*** him off and make him mad. Because jealous can seem like a proof of love in a sick way. Maybe you know what I mean? I even told him that I had sex with director of photography of his film and sent a naked photo to him saying I missed his d***, that Michael has ruined it.' During the arraignment, the two-time SAG Award winner's attorney had claimed his ex regularly performed an aerial show on the trapeze and ropes completely nude while working at exclusive erotic nightclub The Box in Manhattan's Lower East Side. 'It is a really terrible thing I did and is something that I am so ashamed of saying to him, which is why I haven't spoken about it before,' the accuser's alleged text continued. 'I was in a really dark place before I moved in with Michael and he has not left my side even after everything I've put him through this past year. I know you know I've been falling in love with him since I met him. And it's silly but I don't know how to deal with it at times finally being with him. [I] worry that it will end and I've made up lies about him so, if it does, the people around me will tell me it's okay.' In the nine-count indictment, prosecutors accused Michael of forcibly fondling his former flame at his Bushwick home in April 2020 and, months later, allegedly sexually assaulting and hitting her with a wooden plank. Prosecutors also claimed Pitt - who was previously engaged to actress Asia Argento and model Jamie Bochert - assaulted his past lover with a cinderblock in June 2021 and strangled her on August 7, 2021. 'Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual,' his attorney Cary London told the New York Post on May 6. In the new legal docs obtained by TMZ on Thursday, Michael asked Judge Joanne Quinones to allow him to travel internationally 'where he makes most of his money' and claimed 'the original bail package was based on a gross misrepresentation of the facts' (pictured in 2023) Pitt's attorney Paul Townsend shared in the court papers alleged texts his accuser sent a female friend in April 2021, which began: 'When I came over to your house last year after I fought with Michael, I said that he has hit me and that he sexually assaulted me. That's not at all what happened' (pictured in 2019) During the arraignment, the two-time SAG Award winner's attorney had claimed his ex regularly performed an aerial show on the trapeze and ropes completely nude while working at exclusive erotic nightclub The Box in Manhattan's Lower East Side (pictured in 2021) 'We look forward to proving his innocence through the evidence and not through the media.' In September 2022, Michael was hospitalized for being 'emotionally disturbed' after allegedly throwing items at people from a rooftop just two months after being charged with assault and petty larceny for allegedly assaulting a man and taking his phone. Pitt pled no guilty and there's been no public update in that particular case. The Reptile actor is best remembered for his role as mob boss James 'Jimmy' Darmody in two season of Terence Winter's Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire on HBO between 2010-2011. Michael is also well known for his roles in Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), Murder by Number (2002), The Dreamers (2003), Funny Games (2007), and Hannibal (2013). Pitt's upcoming projects include his long-delayed feature directorial debut Nocturnal, Robinson Devor's 1926-set indie crime drama You Can't Win, and Casey Walker's cannibal horror film Ithaqua.

‘Boardwalk Empire' star Michael Pitt's lawyer says sex assault case ‘built on a bed of lies'
NEW YORK — The sexual assault case against 'Boardwalk Empire' star Michael Pitt is 'built on a bed of lies,' the actor's lawyer told the Daily News after a brief court appearance in Brooklyn. Pitt, 44, was busted May 2 on charges he sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend and attacked her with a four-by-four and a cinder block, at the Brooklyn home they previously shared. 'This case is an utter, absolute disgrace,' Pitt's lawyer, Robert Gottlieb, said outside the Brooklyn Supreme Court building, as the actor stood silently by his side. Pitt didn't offer any comment. 'It is built on lie after lie after lie. We have obtained some of the discovery, not all of it,' Gottlieb said, referring to the materials prosecutors must release to defense attorneys, 'and already we can say, it is built on a bed of lies, which is unbelievable that it even came to this point.' 'It is clear that the district attorney did not investigate this case, because if they investigated it, there is no way that this man, who is innocent, would find his way in this court,' Gottlieb said. He didn't elaborate further. A spokesman for Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said Tuesday that his office can't comment on pending cases. Pitt is charged with criminal sex act, criminal sexual abuse, assault, attempted assault and strangulation. The top charge carries a maximum 25-year prison sentence, if convicted at trial. He's pleaded not guilty to the charges, and remains free on $100,000 bail. The indictment against the 'Funny Games' and 'Ghost in the Shell' actor describes four disturbing allegations by the woman, who is not named in court papers. He's accused of forcibly touching her anus and vagina with his finger in April 2020, forcing her into oral sex and assaulting her with a four-by-four in August 2020, attacking her with a cinder block in June 2021 and strangling her in August 2021. On Tuesday, Gottlieb sparred with Assistant District Attorney Amanda Fisher over the release of documents and evidence during an appearance in Brooklyn Supreme Court in Pitts' sexual assault case. In court, Pitt's lawyer Gottleib accused the D.A.'s office of slow-walking key documents in the case. 'We do know that, as of this late date, that we haven't received a single police report… no detective notes, no complaint reports, no DIR [domestic incident] reports,' Gottlieb told Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Abena Darkeh, adding that Pitt was under investigation as far back as February 2024. 'It's all due now,' the defense attorney said, 'and it's all glaring what's missing. It goes to the heart of the investigation that goes on for so long.' Fisher countered that the case was investigated entirely by the Brooklyn D.A.'s office. 'There is no NYPD involvement in this case other than the arrest,' she said. Pitt returns to court July 1, when the judge is expected to hear an application to modify the actor's bail so he can get his passport back.
