Dead & Company to stream final Golden Gate Park concert live in IMAX

Dead & Company will honor six decades of Grateful Dead music with a three-night blowout at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. But for fans unable to snag tickets to the sold-out celebration from Aug. 1-3, the band is offering a cinematic alternative: a one-night-only live broadcast of the final concert in IMAX theaters across the country. Attendees will receive a collectible mini-poster and lanyard alongside the three-and-a-half-hour immersive concert experience. Local showings in the Bay Area include AMC Metreon in San Francisco, AMC Bay Street in Emeryville, and others in Dublin, Santa Clara and San Jose. The Golden Gate Park shows are expected to draw over 60,000 fans per day to the Polo Fields, where Dead & Company — featuring Grateful Dead founding members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, joined by John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti and Jay Lane — will headline what many believe may be their final San Francisco stand. Dead & Company's 8/3 performance at Golden Gate Park will stream live exclusively to select @IMAX screens. Get tickets: Each ticket will come with a commemorative poster & laminate/lanyard, which will be distributed onsite. — Dead & Company (@deadandcompany) July 21, 2025 Later in August, the celebration continues with a nationwide IMAX release of 'The Grateful Dead Movie,' newly remastered and presented as part of the band's annual 'Meet Up at the Movies' event. Originally directed by Jerry Garcia and Leon Gast, the 1977 concert film captures the band's storied 1974 Winterland Ballroom performances and will screen in 60 IMAX theaters on Aug. 13, followed by a wider release on Aug. 14. 'It was the greatest screening I've ever experienced of a film I've seen hundreds of times,' said David Lemieux, the band's archivist and legacy manager, about the film's IMAX presentation.

Grateful Dead Scores Its Fifth New Bestselling Album — In The First Half Of 2025

The Grateful Dead's Greatest Hits debuts at No. 35 on Top Album Sales chart, earning the band its ... More second new win this month and fifth in 2025's first half. (Photo by Clayton Call/Redferns) While the Grateful Dead hasn't recorded new music in many years, the band remains one of the most prolific names in the American music industry. The jam rockers release multiple collections annually, and nearly every project shared becomes a bestseller. 2025 has been a particularly busy period for the Grateful Dead, as the band nearly lands back-to-back bestselling efforts as its latest release arrives. Grateful Dead's Greatest Hits Debuts The band's new compilation, Greatest Hits, arrives on a pair of Billboard charts this frame. The set opens at No. 20 on the Vinyl Albums list and No. 35 on the Top Album Sales tally. Luminate reports that in the first seven days the compilation was available, it was purchased by a little more than 3,200 fans across the United States. Two New Bestsellers in June Greatest Hits marks the second arrival by the Grateful Dead on the Top Album Sales chart in June alone. Just two weeks ago, The Music Never Stopped opened at No. 19. As is the case with almost every full-length the Grateful Dead releases, it then disappeared just one frame later. Grateful Dead's Five New Albums in 2025's First Half In the first half of 2025, the Grateful Dead has scored five new wins on the Top Album Sales chart. That roundup includes a pair of runners-up, as both Dave's Picks Volume 53: Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH – 10/2/76 and Dave's Picks Volume 54: Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MD – 11/30/73 peaked at No. 2. Grateful Dead – Beacon Theatre, New York, NY – June 14, 1976 also spent a single turn at No. 27. Grateful Dead Follows Ateez, Brandon Lake and Van Morrison The Grateful Dead earns the tenth-loftiest debut on the Top Album Sales chart this week. The tally is led by Golden Hour: Part.3 by South Korean boy band Ateez. Fellow musical favorites like Itzy, Calum Hood, Brandon Lake, and Van Morrison land ahead of the jam rock group. The Grateful Dead performs better on the Vinyl Albums tally, where Greatest Hits is the fifth-highest-starting entry of the week.

Grateful Dead's Massive 2025 Continues With Another New Bestseller

The Grateful Dead's The Music Never Stopped debuts at No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart, marking ... More the band's fourth new bestseller of 2025. NEW YORK - OCTOBER 14: Bob Weir (L) and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead attend the signing of "Rocking The Cradle: Egypt 1978" at Best Buy on October 14, 2008 in New York City. (Photo by) The Grateful Dead may no longer be performing together, but when it comes to the band's string of releases, the music has never stopped. That's clearly reflected in the group's latest project, as the jam rockers score a new bestseller in America as The Music Never Stopped arrives and adds to the outfit's incredibly impressive run of top-performing titles. The Music Never Stopped appears on just one Billboard chart this week, following its first complete tracking frame of availability. The set opens at No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart, launching with just under 3,900 pure purchases, according to Luminate. No. 19 is actually fairly low for the Grateful Dead when it comes to a debut position on the Top Album Sales chart. The band typically starts new collections inside the top 10, and daily frequently, very close to the summit. While it does miss the loftiest space on the list, it's worth noting that The Music Never Stopped is the group's fourth new arrival on the list of the top-selling albums in the U.S. in 2025 alone. The band has stalled in the runner-up spot with half of those collections, as both Dave's Picks, Volume 53: Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH - 10/2/76 and Dave's Picks, Volume 54: Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MD - 3/26/73 missed out on becoming another leader for the group by just one space back in April. Another live set, Beacon Theatre - New York, NY - June 14, 1976, rose as high as No. 27 this spring. Four new bestsellers in only six months is a major accomplishment for any act — even the Grateful Dead, which ranks as one of the most successful names in the history of the Top Album Sales chart. The beloved troupe has collected 131 titles on the tally throughout the years, with dozens of them cracking the top 10. Typically, those efforts also land on the Billboard 200 and some of the company's rock rankings, but this time around, the Grateful Dead is restricted to just this one roster.
