80s TV hunk, 76, looks unrecognizable as he flogs loaves at the supermarket after quitting fame to make bread

HE was an 80s TV heartthrob much-loved by the tens of millions of viewers who regularly tuned in to watch Dallas. Now 76, the one-time sex symbol has reinvented himself with a very different career, launched alongside his girlfriend Linda Purl. 4 4 Patrick Duffy, most famous for playing Dallas's Bobby Ewing over 320 episodes, is the proud CEO of Duffy's Dough and has taken to supermarkets to sell his loaves. A new video on Instagram shows him and Linda celebrating the brand's arrival in Kroger stores. The couple wrote, "From our garage to this. Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting us along this journey, and to @krogerco for helping us reach so many more of you! "We are so pleased to be able to support food scarcity with 100% of our profits one loaf at a time." The company also provides DIY dehydrated sourdough starter kits for those who want to make bread at home. Patrick became reacquainted with old pal Linda during the coronavirus pandemic, speaking to one another via Zoom. For their first in-person meeting once restrictions had lifted, Patrick drove 20 hours to see her, determined to see if the spark they shared remotely existed in the flesh. It was Patrick's first and only relationship since the death of his wife Carolyn, with whom he had two sons Padraic and Conor, in 2017. Patrick said he truly believes his late wife would be happy he's found himself in a new relationship and enjoying spending time with Linda. Speaking to People last year, he opened up about finding love after a heartbreaking loss. Rarely-seen 90s star, now 48, hasn't aged a day as she reunites with hit sitcom co-stars in Hollywood He said, 'So when [happiness is] offered, think about it, do whatever you do, but don't let it pass you up if it's the right thing. 'I never thought for a minute this would happen again. I never thought I'd feel this way again." Linda is also well known in her own right after playing Fonzie's girlfriend Ashley in Happy Days - a hugely successful sitcom which ran from 1974 to 1984. Outside of the Dallas franchise, which he returned to in 2012 for three seasons of the TNT revival, Duffy is recognized for his roles in You Again, Step by Step, and The Bold and the Beautiful. Aware he always wanted to act, he previously said: 'From high school on I wanted to act, that was all I wanted to do. I wasn't employed for years but I have been very fortunate and successful.' 4 4

Dallas star Patrick Duffy travels around Ireland in new doc tracing his roots

Patrick (76), who famously played Bobby Ewing in 'Dallas' and starred in 'The Man from Atlantis', has just finished filming a documentary in Ireland with his actress partner Linda Purl Patrick with Larry Hagman as JR Ewing and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen in Dallas President Michael D. Higgins, his wife Sabina and Patrick Duffy at the St Patrick's Day parade in Dublin in 2023 TV legend Patrick Duffy reveals he's looking into getting an Irish passport because of the current political climate in America. Patrick (76), who famously played Bobby Ewing in 'Dallas' and starred in 'The Man from Atlantis', has just finished filming a documentary in Ireland with his actress partner Linda Purl. 'We came here to trace our roots, and a pub was the easiest way, because that's generally where the conversation starts,' Patrick tells the Sunday World. 'It's where you are best known in your community and everybody talks about your parents and your grandparents and pub culture.' The actor grew up in Montana where his parents, Patrick Mor Terence and Marie Duffy (nee Dawson), owned a pub in Boulder. The couple were tragically murdered there in 1988 during an armed robbery, with their two killers getting parole in 2007 and 2015. Patrick's paternal grandfather was from Kilmovee in Co Mayo. 'We are really tracing the pub culture through Ireland, and we will end up in Kilmovee in Mayo,' he explains. 'I have roots primarily in Mayo. 'I first came here in the mid-80s. We went to the Aran Islands and around the rest of Ireland a bit, we were looking at locations for a film. This is my sixth trip to Ireland.' The actor, who became a household name in the '70s and '80s, confirms he is looking into getting an Irish passport. 'I am entitled to it, my grandfather emigrated,' he points out. 'It's worth looking into, especially now with the political climate the way it is, it's worth looking into absolutely.' The couple spoke to us while filming a segment of the documentary at O'Loughlin's pub in Dun Laoghaire, where Patrick pulled and downed pints of Guinness. Linda (69) is best known for playing Ashley Pfister, Fonzie's girlfriend, on the '70s sitcom 'Happy Days' and also starred as Pam Beesly's mother, Helene, in the American version of 'The Office' and as Ben Matlock's daughter Charlene Matlock in the first series on 'Matlock'. 'We were up in Galway, we were up in Lettermullen in Connemara, and we are so lucky to be working with Brian Redden who is now part of the family. Brian is one of the best producer-directors, which is absolutely wonderful. 'My folks are Scots Irish and so they would have come over in the early 17th century and settled up in Ulster, that's where my kin is. This trip is about finding Duffy roots, and so we are having this lovely adventure on the way to Mayo 'We were here three years ago, and ages ago I shot a miniseries here, The Manions of America, for American television, Pierce Brosnan was also in it.' The couple live in Encino in Los Angeles and have been together since 2020. Linda has been married and divorced four times and has one child. Patrick has been married once, his wife Carlyn, whom he married in 1974, died in 2017 and they had two sons. The actor says one of them is carrying on the family tradition. 'My son Padraic, he's the eldest, he works in a bar, it's called Broadwater Plunge in Hollywood,' he adds. When shown a picture of his Dallas co-stars Larry Hagman (JR) and Linda Grey (Sue Ellen) during a trip to Ireland, he speaks fondly about them. 'I know they came here a lot,' he smiles. When asked if they'd like a holiday home here, Linda laughs: 'One step at a time!' Patrick adds: 'We travel a lot, and our holidays are spent thankfully at home.' He reflects about his favourite moments on recent journey here. 'Just meeting the people, and especially the pub culture,' he says, with Linda adding 'and the music'. Producer/director Brian reveals the one-hour documentary has been commissioned by RTÉ and will be shown around Christmas. 'We were trying to go to as many Duffy's pubs as possible as his folks had a Duffy's pub in Montana,' he tells us. 'So we visited a few of them — there's one in Malahide, there's one in Killimor in Galway. There's one in Donegal, Annagary. 'We went to the Hi B in Cork, O'Loughlin's in Dun Laoghaire, went to Jim Of The Mills in Tipperary. 'We were out in the Aran Island, Joe Watty's on Inishmor on the Aran Islands as well. We went to Moate, TR Dallas's pub in Moate, and TR Dallas got to sing his hit Who Shot JR. TR was delighted to meet him and sing the song. 'We got to meet lots of distant cousins and relatives in Kilmovee on Wednesday, which was the last pub we did, Duffy's Four Ways, and where Patrick's grandfather was from. We spent about two weeks doing it.' Brian explains that the idea for the documentary came from the couple. 'Patrick and Linda were back here a couple of years ago searching for the family roots, they had gone down to Mayo, Kilmovee,' he says. 'When they were over here the idea hatched to come back and document the trip and document Ireland, what Ireland means to him. I came on board later on. 'He has a history of pubs in his family. His son runs a pub in Hollywood, and his grandfather had one and his dad had one, and he grew up in a pub in Montana, so we thought that was an interesting prism to look at the changing face of Ireland. 'It's an hour long special, we are just calling it Duffy's Pub, because we are kind of using it as a home for Ireland.' He says the reaction to the couple has been 'incredible' wherever they've gone. 'There's flags and buntings everywhere, tea and scones and brown bread and black pudding. 'I've eaten more scones on this trip that I never want to see a scone again,' he says. President Michael D. Dallas star Patrick Duffy, 76, was a big hunk in the 1970s... see what he looks like now

Dallas veteran Patrick Duffy played Bobby Ewing on the hit nighttime soap saga set in Texas from 1978 until 1991. The swarthy actor was one of the biggest hunks on the small screen as he worked opposite Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Victoria Principal. He reprised the role of Bobby in the TNT revival series from 2012 to 2014. Duffy also starred as Frank Lambert in the ABC sitcom Step by Step with blonde bombshell Suzanne Somers in the 1990s. Now the 76-year-old Hollywood staple has been seen again as he appeared at several events in Cincinnati to support his brand Duffy's Dough. On his arm was his girlfriend Linda Purl of Happy Days fame. Duffy and Purl have been dating since July 2020 after they met on a group text and got close on Facetime then Zoom during Covid. He has said sparks began to fly during a group text chat in 2020. Patrick shared last year: 'It's a Covid romance. We didn't sit in the same room for almost four months but we spoke to each other everyday. 'We kept texting and texting became Facetime and for two and a half months plus we zoomed every night for two or three hours. We didn't have that thing after the third dinner, do I kiss? Do I take her to my house? Linda, who played Ashley Pfister in season 10 of Happy Days in the early 1980s, added: 'As we were about to do the end meeting, Patrick says "see you tomorrow love you." Patrick said: 'The next day we zoomed it was like…"hi". I got into my car and drove 23 hours to her door step and we've never been apart.' Linda continued: 'I don't think it would have happened otherwise because in our normal lives pre-pandemic we wouldn't have had three hours to Zoom but we did.' Branding Linda 'the most beautiful thing in the world' Patrick said: 'I wasn't looking for (love) but it found me.' Describing their relationship in an interview back in November 2020, Patrick said he had given up on the idea of dating again following the passing of his wife, ballet dancer Carlyn Rosser, who succumbed to cancer in 2017. The pair were married for over four decades and had two sons: Padraic, 48, and Conor, 42. 'I wasn't looking for it. I didn't feel I needed it … and then fate just went swoosh! and changed the perspective,' he said of their love last year. 'We started texting and then FaceTiming and then Zooming … We did a two-to-three-hour Zoom every single night … You get to know somebody really well when you do that.' The actor loved chatting to Linda during the lockdown, and once restrictions were eased, he wasted no time in rushing to see her. He shared: 'At the end of those two and half months, we were feeling a little different than just casual friendship, so I packed up my car, I drove 20 hours, and I was on her doorstep. 'I asked permission if I could kiss her, and we've been together ever since.' Patrick admitted that his romance with Linda came as a complete surprise. The actor explained that after his wife's death, he never imagined he'd fall in love again. He confessed: 'I never thought for a minute this would happen again. I never thought I'd feel this way again. I'm in an incredibly happy relationship.' Duffy's wife Rosser died in 2017. Linda is mother to son Lucius Cary, 26, who she shares with ex husband Alexander Cary. She has been married four times in total but has no other children. In 2006 Patrick played Stephen Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful. He left the show after five years, but came back in 2022 for two episodes. In his role he played the love interest to his girlfriend Purl. He has also appeared in films like You Again (2010) and Lady of the Manor (2021).
