Probably the luckiest man alive for some, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, the lone survivor of the June 12 Air India crash that killed 241 others on board and several others who were on ground, is reportedly struggling to cope up with the trauma of the harrowing day. Lone survivor of the AI-171 flight crash, Vishwas Ramesh Kumar, mourns the death of his brother Ajay Ramesh(ANI Grab ) Vishwas Kumar Ramesh was the only one out of the 242 passengers of the ill-fated London-Ahmedabad flight who walked out of the crash alive, shocking the world. He is now taking a psychiatrist's help to find a way of coping with the traumatic experience, his cousin said, according to news agency PTI. The London-bound Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner went down just seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad airport on June 12. Vishwas, seated in 11A near the emergency exit, was the only passenger who survived, with was his own brother, Ajay, being among the 241 others onboard who died. Another 19 people were killed on the ground. Vishwas Kumar Ramesh devastated The aftermath has left Vishwas emotionally devastated. Vishwas's cousin said he wakes up in the middle of the night and finds it difficult to fall back asleep. "Many people, including our relatives living abroad, call us to inquire about Vishwas's well-being. But he does not talk to anyone. He is yet to overcome the mental trauma of the crash and the death of his brother," PTI quoted his cousin Sunny as saying. "He still wakes up in the middle of the night and finds it difficult to fall asleep again. We took him to a psychiatrist two days ago to find remedy. He has not made any plans yet to return to London because his treatment has just begun," Sunny added. Vishwas was discharged from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on June 17 - the same day his family received Ajay's body after a DNA match. The brothers had been returning to London after visiting their family in Diu, part of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. In a video widely shared on social media, Vishwas was seen carrying his brother's mortal remains on his shoulders to the cremation ground in Diu on June 18. This was just one of the many videos of Vishwas post the crash that stunned the world. Some videos from the crash day showed Vishwas walking out of the tragedy site. In another viral video taken just after the crash, Vishwas is seen walking toward an ambulance, away from the debris. Surviving that moment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Vishwas at the hospital a day after the crash and enquired about his condition. In an interview to Doordarshan after the Air India crash, Vishwas recounted the terrifying seconds before impact. "Luckily, the portion of the plane where I was seated fell on the ground floor of the [medical college] hostel premises after the plane crash-landed. When I saw that the door was broken, I told myself that I can try and get out. Eventually, I came out," he had told reporters.

The Gatwick-bound AI171 Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner plunged into the hostel complex of BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar within minutes of its takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport. Of the 242 persons onboard the plane, only one individual survived. In addition, 29 people on the ground were also killed by the terrifying plane crash. 70 tola gold, ₹70,000 cash: Man hands over recoveries from Ahmedabad plane crash site to govt

Rajesh Patel, a businessman and one of the first responders to the tragic Air India AI171 plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, claimed that he found around 70 'tola'of gold and around ₹ 70,000 in cash from the debris while lending a hand in the rescue efforts. One tola is roughly 11 grams. The Air India AI171 flight crashed into a medical college hostel complex in Meghani Nagar area on June 12, killing a total of 270 persons.(AFP) Patel said that he handed over the discovered gold and cash to the government authorities. The deadly crash of the Air India Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner into the hostel complex of BJ Medical College claimed the lives of all but one passenger. Additionally, 29 persons, who were present on the ground in the Meghani Nagar area were also killed. Patel told news agency ANI that the crash took place around 300 metres away from his house, and as soon as they saw the plane turning into a ball of flames, they rushed to the site. "Nothing was visible when we reached the crash site. Our eyes were burning due to the fuel and fire pouring all around us, and there was no place to go inside due to the smoke... After the fire was extinguished, we approached the crash and saw that the bodies of people were lying everywhere," he said. Therefore, after the fire was doused, Patel, along with other first responders, helped collect the dead bodies using old sarees, dupattas, and wheat rags. "After all the bodies were recovered, we thought since we could not save anyone, we should at least take care of their belongings," said Patel. Passports, gold, Gita, and cash In those belongings, Patel said they found, British passports, Indian passports, burnt mobile phones, laptops, and iPads. "We found a passenger's mobile still on, whose screen was broken, and the phone was not working. We found a lot of jewellery. We found 70-80 tolas of gold. We gave that to the officer there. Our effort was that at least the last remains of the deceased could be given to their families," Patel told ANI. Additionally, they also found idols of Lord Krishna and a Bhagavad Gita. He said that all of this stuff was collected from the crash site and handed over to a government officer. We gave all this to the government officer," Patel added. Since the bodies of the Air India crash victims were charred beyond recognition, authorities began carrying out DNA testing to match their identification. As of Sunday night, DNA samples of 251 victims had been identified, and mortal remains of 245 victims had been handed over to their respective families. His funeral was held with full state honours in Rajkot on June 16.

A 17-year-old Aryan Asari, the boy who recorded a viral video of the Air India plane crash in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Thursday, said that he thought the aircraft was "going to land", but instead it crashed and went up in flames. Police treated the teen as an eyewitness to the tragedy and recorded his statement on Saturday. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch said he came with his father to give the statement. Air India's AI171 Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner crashed into the hostel complex of BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar within minutes of its takeoff from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The tragedy claimed the lives of 241 aboard the aircraft, leaving just one survivor. Additionally, more than 20 persons present on the ground at the time of the incident also lost their lives. A total of 270 persons were killed in the plane crash. Aryan Asari's video gave the initial perspective of the incident. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said that as the plane was passing from a very close range, he thought of shooting a video to show to his friends. He had gone up to the terrace to witness the low-flying aircraft. "The plane went downwards, and I thought it was going to land as the airport was nearby. But when it went down, flames started coming up, and we saw that it had exploded," Asari said. The teen recalled how "scared" he felt in that moment, and said he showed the video to his sister, and told his father about the same. Earlier, his sister told news agency PTI how Asari expressed his wish not to live in the area anymore as "it is dangerous". Asari on Sunday returned to his native village in Aravalli district to resume his class 12 studies. The teenager arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12, the same day as the plane crash, to purchase textbooks. "I cleared the class 11 exam last month and secured admission in class 12. I came to Ahmedabad on June 12 to purchase textbooks. I reached my father's rented house at around 12:30 pm," Asari said. Aryan Asari's father, a retired Army personnel, had recently taken up a job as a security guard with the Ahmedabad Metro and was living at a rented accommodation in the Meghani Nagar area. The owner of the rented home, Kailashba, also commented on Asari's experience and said, "He had come to Ahmedabad for the first time and within hours of his arrival, he ended up witnessing such a horrific event. The video he captured was initially sent to his father and later went viral". Meanwhile, an official on Sunday said that the identities of 47 victims have been matched through DNA testing, and bodies of 24 have been handed over to their respective families.

The video captured by Aryan provided the initial visuals of the unfortunate accident for both netizens and the media. Recounting the horrifying tragedy to reporters, Aryan stated that the Air India plane crashed within just 24 seconds of him beginning to record. "I felt very scared. My sister was the first one to see the video. I feel very scared because of what I saw," he said, HT reported. According to HT, Aryan's landlady has expressed concern for his well-being, saying that after the incident, he "was unable to speak" and "remained awake for entire night." She added, "He has become quiet, not even eating anything." His sister has also voiced concern for her brother's well-being, saying that he is very scared and struggling to speak properly. Meanwhile, in view of the fatal crash of the Air India flight the Government has ordered Directorate General of Civil Aviation to conduct extended surveillance on the Boeing 787 Series planes. Notably, there are 34 Boeing 787 Series planes in the Indian aircraft fleet and inspections of 8 have already been conducted with immediate urgency. Additionally, the Central government has instructed Air India to facilitate the process of assisting the families of the passengers in whatever way is needed. Air India flight AI171 crashed into a medical college campus in Ahmedabad on Thursday, just a minute after taking off from the airport. Air India has confirmed that 169 Indian nationals, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals were killed in the plane crash. One person survived the accident and is currently under medical observation.
