‘Finding Nemo': Only thing US rapper knows about Australia

Saweetie admits her only reference for what to expect on her first tour to Australia is what she saw on the Disney film Finding Nemo, and can't wait to set her sights on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. While she most likely won't have time to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef looking for the famous fish trio, Marlin, Dory and Nemo, she is keeping her mind open about what to expect Down Under — apart from excited fans of course. 'Well, based on Finding Nemo...I really want to see, what's that arch you guys have over there?' she asked over a phone call from LA. I replied: 'The Sydney Harbour Bridge.' 'Yes, I'm excited to see that. But honestly, I know this sounds childish, but my only recollection of anything that's Australia comes from Finding Nemo. So I'm gonna be using that movie as a reference when I go out there. 'But besides that, you know Sydney, Melbourne are some of my top streaming cities. So I'm just so excited to meet the girls and the boys down there who've been supporting me for all these years, and finally being able to see them in person.' The 32-year-old US rapper, real name Diamonte Harper, will travel to the other side of the globe this week, kicking off her tour in Perth on Wednesday night at Metros in Northbridge. She will also bring her signature style, viral hits and superstar energy to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for shows during the first week of August. Fans can expect fierce choreography, colourful fashion and a stacked setlist featuring hit songs, including a sneak peek at her new EP Hella Pressure, which drops mid-tour on August 1. Saweetie said her Aussie tour will be 'colourful, funky and playful', three adjectives which currently mirror her personality and music. 'I feel like that's where I'm at in my life. Not only do I want to work, but I want to have fun while I'm doing it, and I feel like this new era of music allows me to do so,' she said. Hella Pressure is the Rich Type singer's fifth EP, and according to her father, best represents her and evokes memories of her early music. 'I'm very happy about it,' she said. 'It's inspired by my name Diamante, because, you know, diamonds are made under pressure, and I'm basically just, like, popping my sh*t.' Saweetie in Tokyo before arriving in Australia. Credit: Supplied She hasn't released music since last year, so the hype from fans for new material is real, with some already knowing the lyrics to her new song Boffum, before it was released. 'We played this like 20 times at the strip club (before the release), and the whole crowd was singing it, which lets me know it's one of them ones, the fact that they were singing along, it's not even out yet, it was crazy,' she said. Saweetie raps about emotions throughout her almost 10-year career, which sparked from a passion for poetry. 'Once I realised that, like music was just poetry over the beat, that's what made me want to get into it. So I'm happy that I've had all this success, and I'm looking forward to having much more, especially with these new singles,' she said. K-pop group Twice collaborate with her on the track Superstars: 'Oh my gosh, their voice sounds so beautiful.' 'It's so fun. And this reminds me of this, just like a pure, colourful day, and nothing could go wrong. It sounds like one of those songs that she just put on and immediately makes everything lighter and brighter.' Returning to the live music scene with a headline tour, Saweetie said it simply felt 'sensational'. The tour marks a milestone for the rap queen, whose icy-girl anthems – like Tap In, Best Friend featuring Doja Cat and the song that started it all, Icy Grl – have earned her more than five billion career streams.

I'm so excited for the ICY Gang to hear it, and I can't wait to finally share the project I've been working on.' Last week, Saweetie teased 'Boffum' in an Instagram video where she wore a white bikini along with huge fur boots and a matching fur hat as she rapped and danced along to the boisterous beat. The track marks Saweetie's first official solo release of 2025. Earlier this year, the musician was featured on an array of different artists' songs, including Mexican singer Santa Fle Klan's 'Loco.' Though Hella Pressure will be Saweetie's fifth EP, she has yet to release her long-awaited debut LP Pretty Bitch Music. In a cover story for Allure, the rapper revealed why she had yet to drop her first full-length album: 'To me, music is sacred. It's coming from your spirit. You can't just go finish an album in a week. That's why it's taking me so long. That's why I haven't dropped an album yet.' Saweetie Previews New EP ‘Hella Pressure' With Single ‘Boffum'

Saweetie Saweetie might be an 'Icy Grl,' but the Oakland-bred rapper is ready to turn up the heat for the summer. The hit-making artist is back with a new single, 'Boffum,' and announced her forthcoming EP Hella Pressure upon the song's release. To create the song, Saweetie teamed up with J. White, or J. White Did It, the Grammy-winning producer behind Cardi B's 'Bodak Yellow' and other rap hits. 'Lady or a pimp? 'Boffum' / You want the steak or the shrimp? 'Boffum' / Rapper, athlete, 'boffum' / Don't you ask me? Just give me 'boffum'' she raps on the track. 'How many on me, like four of 'em? / I keep a secret, no tea, I don't know nothin' / Take a shot, peel off in a 4Runner / All my haters f**ked up, need a GoFundMe.' Speaking to Billboard about her upcoming music, Saweetie explained that her next project will showcase who she is as an artist today and how she's evolved over the time in the spotlight. 'I feel like it will really encompass who I've grown into over these past couple of years. Lots of stories to tell,' she said. Over the better part of a decade, Saweetie has found her footing during a time when women began occupying more space in the hip-hop scene than ever before. It took a while, but she's since learned not to be so hard on herself. 'Earlier on in my career, I [was] like, 'I have to be perfect,'' she told Teen Vogue. 'I've realized you just have to show up and give it your best. As long as I do that, that's when I feel great about my shows… Right before I step out [on stage], I pray, and I remind myself to just have a show that's inspirational and fun, and not to strive for perfection.' Now, with more time and experience under her belt, Saweetie is prepared to handle everything her career entails. 'I feel like I finally know myself," she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. 'I felt like I was constantly in this weird transition phase, especially with recording, like, 'What am I even talking about?'' Hella Pressure is out Aug. 1.

Why have only one when you can get 'Boffum?' Saweetie returned on Friday (July 18) to heat up the summer with her bouncy single 'Boffum.' Saweetie has laid relatively low on the music front in 2025, as 'Boffum' serves as her first solo release of the year. However, things are about to change for Diamonté. While her much-delayed Pretty Bitch Music debut album remains elusive, Saweetie announced plans for her HELLA PRESSURE EP, which is slated to arrive on Aug. 1 via Warner Records and comes in the midst of her upcoming four-date Australia tour run. 'I feel like it will really encompass who I've grown into over these past couple of years. Lots of stories to tell,' she told Billboard in February about her upcoming music. Outside of her own music, Saweetie became a brand ambassador for Paris Hilton's NYX Professional Makeup line. The 32-year-old was also part of the NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show in February, which saw her perform alongside E-40, Too Short and En Vogue for DJ Cassidy's Pass the Mic Live Bay Area celebration. Hailey Bieber Is Calling Out ‘F—ing Losers' as Justin Bieber Announces Surprise Album

Hailey Bieber is standing on business when it comes to Justin Bieber, especially as he gears up to drop his new album, seemingly titled Swag. The pop star revealed Thursday (July 10) that he's finally releasing new music after a four-year drought, unveiling electronic billboards in multiple cities across the globe with the word 'Swag' and a 20-song track list. Holding 11-month-old son Jack Blues in her arms, the Rhode founder appears alongside her husband in some of the billboards, which Justin shared in posts on his Instagram. The model's quip references a recent viral moment in which Justin — seemingly confronting intrusive paparazzi — irritably asks, 'It's not clocking to you that I'm standing on business, is it?' The phrase quickly became a widespread meme, which Hailey is now using to support her partner while seemingly brushing off haters. And while it isn't clear which 'f—ing losers' she was addressing, the couple has been no stranger to trolls picking apart their relationship. Hailey opened up about shutting out online hate in her recent Vogue cover story, in which Justin also said, 'I've done a lot of dumb things in my life, but the smartest thing I've ever done was marry Hailey.' Bieber's seventh album has been a long time coming, with Justin last releasing an album in 2021. That year's Justice spent two weeks atop the Billboard 200, becoming one of eight career No. 1s the Grammy winner has on the chart. Since he last released music, Justin has become a father, welcoming Jack with Hailey last August. Remaining careful not to reveal the baby's face, the two stars have shared many photos of their son over the past year, with Justin most recently posting a snap of himself and his mini-me in the studio. Justin hasn't officially confirmed when Swag will drop, but one report from The Hollywood Reporter indicates that it will arrive at midnight Friday (July 11) — just hours after the Biebs first revealed its existence. The report also said that Gunna and Sexyy Red will appear as features on the album.
