'Would Have Played So Many Tests In...': Starc Hails Hat-Trick Hero Boland
Last Updated: While Mitchell Starc played the starring role, Scott Boland managed to get some of the spotlight with a hat-trick as Australia skittled West Indies for 27 runs. While Mitchell Starc garnered all the attention for his 100th Test match and his 400th wicket in the format, Scott Boland managed to get some of the limelight at the end of the third Test against West Indies in Kingston. Boland's hat-trick rounded up the lower order, dismissing the hosts for a mere 27 runs, marking the second-lowest Test total ever. Starc made history in the third Test against the West Indies in Jamaica by securing a five-wicket haul in just 15 balls, the quickest in Test history. Boland, having donned the baggy green only 14 times, has taken 62 wickets. Starc believes his teammate would have played many more Test matches had he been in a different team. 'He is amazing. Would have played so many Tests in another team. He is never far from the perfect spell. Prepares all the time to play and shows what a wonderful Test bowler he is," said Starc. Boland achieved a hat-trick by removing Justin Greaves, Shamar Joseph, and Jomel Warrican with consecutive deliveries at the start of his second over, becoming the 10th Australian to take a Test hat-trick. With figures of 3-34 and 3-2 at Sabina Park during Australia's Test victory against the West Indies, Boland's Test bowling average now stands at 16.53, the best of any bowler in the last 110 years of Test cricket (minimum 2000 balls bowled). Boland confessed he was nervous on his hat-trick ball and praised Starc for his remarkable achievement. 'I was nervous on that last ball. Amazing feeling. Didn't expect ten wickets to fall in the first session. Starcy to start like that, three wickets in the opening over, unbelievable," he said. 'I just tried to keep the ball in the right areas. Happy to start off well. Unreal, for Starc to get his 400th wicket in his 100th Test is special. He trains hard and looks after his body to achieve those things," said Boland. Popular Gorey beach has reopened to the public
Works commenced to reinstate the boardwalk last week, and was welcomed by Courtown Community Council. They said they are delighted with the reopening of the boardwalk, and it was a 'hugely important access point' for all who want to enjoy the coastline. 'We're grateful to Wexford County Council for making this happen and want to congratulate all those involved in advocating for this work to be completed over the years,' Courtown Community Council said. Councillor Nicky Boland, for the Gorey – Kilmuckridge District described its previous conditions as dangerous and said 'people had to scurry down by the side of it.' Cllr Boland had previously asked for the slipway to be reinstated or removed altogether. 'I'm delighted they came to the decision to actually reinstate it. It was a great decision,' he added. Courtown Community Council added that the reopening could lead to extra footfall in the area. 'We believe this will lead to a significant increase in footfall so we'd also welcome practical measures like additional bins, refreshed road markings, accessible parking spaces and a regular Council and Garda presence to help manage traffic and ensure public safety,' they said. Wicklow Wexford TD Fionntán Ó Súilleabháin who has also been advocating for the beach's reopening praised the Wexford County Council for allowing access to the beach again. "I'd like to compliment Wexford County Council for a very nice job re-opening proper access to our beautiful beach. Hopefully, the beach stays the lovely weather! 'Courtown beach is something that holds such special memories for tens of thousands of people, including a huge amount of Dubliners!," he shared.

Boland legend grows with new high
He only plays one Test at a time but Scott Boland has vaulted into the top 10 on the ICC rankings on the back of his West Indian hat-trick. Boland, who took 3-2 in the final Test in Jamaica after being overlooked for the first two, is now the sixth ranked bowler in the world, ahead of man-of-the series Mitch Starc, who is 10th. The entire first-choice Australian attack all sit comfortably in the top 10, with captain Pat Cummins at three, Josh Hazlewood at four and spin star Nathan Lyon, who was left out for Boland in the West Indies, at number eight. It's a staggering feat for Boland, who has resigned himself to being a horses-for-courses selection, behind Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc despite performing whenever called upon. The 36-year-old Victorian took three wickets in both innings of the final Test, a day-night affair at Sabina Park, taking his career haul to 62 from just 14 games, with regular spells out of the Australian team. His bowling average of 16.53 puts him among the most effective in the game's history. Speaking after his brilliant turn in Jamaica, Boland said he's comfortable knowing his role was to do a job when called upon behind some of the best fast bowlers the game has ever seen. 'I'm playing with three of the best fast bowlers Australia has ever had, so I'm happy to be in behind them,' Boland said. 'It's going to extend all of our careers if we can all stay on the park and keep bowling really well, so I'm happy with that. 'I know I'm not going to play every game, so I can be really specific with my training, and then when I get to a Test match I'm going to play, I'm ready to go.' Confirmation of the brilliance of the Australian bowling attack comes through in the rankings. What a team - Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland with the Frank Worrell Trophy. Supplied Credit: Supplied It's the first time since 1958 a team has had six bowlers ranked in the world's top 10. Lyon dropped a spot after being omitted to allow Boland to play in Jamaica, while Starc remained in 10th spot despite his haul of 6-9 in the second innings in his 100th Test, which took him past 400 career wickets.
