Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia join Hasan Minhaj in Netflix Bollywood dance comedy
Netflix has officially announced the cast for its upcoming Bollywood-themed comedy Best of the Best, adding rising stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia alongside Hasan Minhaj, who also co-wrote the film. Directed by Lena Khan (Flora & Ulysses), the movie is produced by Minhaj and Prashanth Venkataramanujam under their 186K Films banner, alongside Jonathan Eirich for Rideback. Best of the Best follows two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, as they dive into the competitive world of college Bollywood dance teams. What begins as a bonding experience soon turns intense, as the road to the national championship proves to be both cutthroat and comedic. The film highlights the South Asian college dance circuit — a vibrant, high-energy space where teams across the country come together to compete and celebrate culture. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, best known for her role as Devi in Netflix's Never Have I Ever, joins the project after recent roles in Freakier Friday and voice work in Turning Red. Priyanka Kedia, a newcomer gaining traction with her role in Everything To Me, adds to the diverse cast. Minhaj, who gained acclaim with Patriot Act and Homecoming King, also stars in the film. He's currently gearing up for his upcoming appearance in Tron: Ares and a comedy tour with Ronny Chieng. The film continues Netflix's expansion into culturally rich, character-driven comedy, particularly highlighting South Asian experiences through dance and friendship.

Living and entertainment spaces Dhawan's living room doubles as a trophy wall gallery and social hub. The batsman's signature 'cricket wall' has MS Dhoni's gloves and Virat Kohli's signed bat sharing the spotlight. His Man of the Match and other trophies join his game souvenirs in the display, with a huge candid photo of Dhawan mid-game in the centre. The large bed, natural light, and quiet vibe suggest this is where the energy takes a backseat. A corridor, seen above, has a minimalist vibe with white walls and a mesh panel on one side. When fashion entrepreneur Sharada Narayanan stood on stage with her counterparts from across the world, waiting with sheer anticipation and racing hearts for the announcement of Mrs Classique Globe Choice of the People, she took a moment to process that her name had been called out. 'I was in a complete shock. I don't think I reacted the way everybody usually does – the awe, the crying or hands thrown up in the air,' she recalls. While winning the title with 50 other contestants competing for it might have been a surprise for Narayanan, her mentor, Veena Jain, the winner of Mrs India Globe Classique 2017, had complete confidence. 'When we started from Bengaluru, I had a feeling that we were going to make it this year. It may have been a surprise for Sharada, but for me, I was very confident that she was going to come out with the title – her confidence and elegance made me believe so. I'm especially proud because this is the first time an Indian delegate has won such an honour,' says Jain. Achieving the highly coveted Swarovski crystal-studded crown was no easy feat with Narayanan's schedule being jam-packed with rehearsals and galas from the moment she arrived at Palm Springs on June 16 to the moment she was crowned on June 21. 'Once we went there, it was a complete grind – it's like a boot camp. We get up early in the morning and go on late into the night on some days. You go through one regiment after the other, but there were a lot of fun times in between practice and exercise too, when we got to bond with women from different countries and cultures,' says Narayanan, explaining the preparations that went into the three final rounds – national costume, swimsuit, and evening gown – as well as the Bollywood-themed welcome party, charity galas, and preliminary rounds that preceded them.
