Celtic offer caveat about star they want to keep as hardline transfer rules in place for £6m superstar from Pozarevac
The champions are getting down to work as they aim to trigger a monumental signing summer Insistent Celtic do not want to sell Johnny Kenny after Bolton Wanderers had a £500,000 bid turfed out for the Republic of Ireland international. Sky Sports claim the Premiership champions may consider loan offers later in the window after the 22-year-old established himself as a key role player in the closing weeks of last season. Kenny is being tracked by Bolton and a clutch of other clubs and faces a fresh fight for game time with Fulham B star Callum Osmand heading to Glasgow imminently and the Welshman is expected to land in Brendan Rodgers ' first-team squad and compete for game time. Kenny earned acclaim for his loan spells at Shamrock Rovers and Rodgers was effusive in his praise after he scored his first goal for Celtic the in the 5-1 pasting against Aberdeen in May. Meanwhile. the pursuit of Veljko Milosavljevic is expected to reach a conclusion in the coming weeks after multiple reports in Serbia stated Celtic had a £5.1million offer turned down for the 18-year-old. Sources insist it will take £6million to land the Red Star standout and that two unnamed Premier League clubs have watched the player extensively in the past few months. If Milosavljevic is potentially inbound then Gustaf Lagerbielke is for the off. Despite uncertainty elsewhere, the Swede is still a Celtic player after his loan at Twente and Braga are keen to land him on a permanent deal. Benjamin Nygren is closing in on his official unveiling after he arrived in Scotland to officially announce his four-year contract from Danes Nordsjælland. Scottish Premiership hero rushed to hospital after car crash as club reveal he'll miss his own testimonial match
HIBS have announced that club hero Darren McGregor has been involved in a car accident. They've revealed McGregor, 39, has undergone surgery in hospital and will now cruelly miss his OWN testimonial match. 2 2 McGregor joined Hibs in 2015 after spells at Cowdenbeath, St Mirren and Rangers. He spent eight years with the Hibees as a player, making just shy of 200 appearances. McGregor was part of the Hibs side that won the Scottish Cup in 2016 and the Championship title the following year. He has remained with the Easter Road outfit since his playing career ended in 2023 and is now the head coach of the under-18s side. To mark 10 years at the club, Hibs gave McGregor a testimonial match. It'll take place next month, with Bolton Wanderers heading to Easter Road on July 19. But McGregor cruelly won't be able to feature in the match. Hibs have revealed he was involved in a vehicle collision on Friday evening. He has now undergone surgery at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and is recovering. While he won't be able to play, McGregor will still be in attendance at the match. Hibs say he will meet fans at the stadium and the hospitality suites on the day. He'll be doing this before, after and during the match. Speaking at the time of the testimonial being announced, the committee chairman Graeme Cadger said: 'We would like to thank Hibernian FC for their cooperation, Bolton Wanderers FC for agreeing to provide the opposition, and to David Gray for allowing Darren to play part of the match. 'We believe this will be a great occasion to celebrate the career of a Hibernian FC great, and we hope to see as many supporters there as possible to give Daz a moment to remember.' Hibs, meanwhile, look set to sign Josh Mulligan from Dundee. The 22-year old, who can play at right-back and midfield, had looked close to signing for Rangers previously. The Dee were understood to be desperate to keep him on but it looks like he's heading for Easter Road instead.

And the Scottish Cup-winning central defender will NOT be able to feature in his testimonial against Bolton Wanderers next month – but WILL be at Easter Road for the game. Hibs confirmed on the official club website that under-18s coach McGregor had been 'involved in a vehicle collision on Friday evening.' The club statement continued: 'He is now recovering after undergoing surgery at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad McGregor, who lives in the capital, has just led his youth squad to the Club Academy Scotland Elite League title. And he's preparing to lead the group, rebranded as under-19s, into the European Youth League later this season. The aspiring coach, not long back from a Pro Licence week on the Continent, was rewarded with a testimonial for his long service to Hibs. That included, of course, his part in the 2016 Scottish Cup win over Rangers – ending the club's 114-year wait to lift the famous trophy. Bolton Wanderers testimonial next month for star defender Confirming that McGregor will still be at Easter Road to thank fans for their support as Hibs host Bolton on Saturday, July 19, the club statement said: 'Everyone associated with the football club and Darren McGregor's testimonial wishes him a speedy recovery. Whilst 'Daz' can't feature in the match, he will still be able to attend with the game commemorating his fantastic career. 'McGregor will meet supporters inside Easter Road Stadium, and in the hospitality suites, alongside walking out onto the pitch for an interview to thanks Hibs fans for their support. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Darren McGregor's Testimonial Committee will also be hosting various hospitality packages for the match versus Bolton Wanderers. As he can't play, 'Daz' will be walking around the hospitality suites and speaking to supporters both before the match, at half-time, and at full-time.' Tickets for the game against Bolton are still on sale, with tickets priced at just £12 for adults. More information can be found here. UEFA Youth League challenge McGregor has admitted, meanwhile, that some of the star players from last season's league win may not be around for the European adventure, with the club putting long-term development over short-term glory, saying: 'There's a big argument to be had about the loans and getting the lads out and getting them developed, or to have them experience these European games. That will be an interesting discussion when it comes, because you want to go into a European game with your strongest team. 'But at the same time, we need to weigh up whether it's best for the lads, the 2007 group especially, to go out on loan. I believe the first European game might be September or October. By that time, you'd be looking to get lads loaned out. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Ultimately, that probably won't be my decision. I'd like to have a strong team to play in Europe, but if it means that lads are getting developed and the powers that be see fit that there's a better chance of development at a different club out on loan, then that's fine. The other lads just need to step up. 'I'm hoping we can go into the games with a strong team, because that was me just coming in to the development side, last time, the 2004 group that got into Europe under Gareth Evans. I was in the background while Gareth and Stevie Kean took the team, but I thought it was an incredible experience. 'We got Molde home and away, we got Nantes home and away, and then we got Dortmund in front of 8,000 fans at Easter Road. The experience of that, for me, is incredible, because a lot of these lads now, some of them have fallen out the game. That will be the pinnacle of their career. 'I'm confident in our 2007 group and 2008 group - and some of the 2009s as well. I'm confident they can go toe to toe with most teams in Europe and give them a battle. I'm looking forward to it.'
