Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal-backed LAT Aerospace buys Bombardier jet? All you need to know

Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal has issued a clarification after a report on Wednesday said LAT Aerospace, a company backed by him, has bought a Bombardier Global jet. 'For those who want facts more than clickbaity headlines – LAT is a startup, and has not bought any private jet. LAT is about making planes for regional aviation, and is not in the business of buying plane,' Goyal said in a post on X. 'And, I don't own one personally either. Will be nice to have one though,' he further clarified. As per the report by Moneycontrol quoting multiple sources, Bombardier Global series aircraft was scheduled to start operations from July 16. The jet has been seen parked in the Delhi airport's VIP bay since June 2025. The exact model of the aircraft could not be ascertained by the report. The registration of the aircraft, as well as the purpose of its flight today were also not known. As per the report, Indamer MJets Airport Services and Bird Execujet Airport Services are responsible for the ground handling and engineering of the Bombardier Global jet. Earlier in June, LAT Aerospace co-founder Surobhi Das confirmed that Deepinder Goyal is eyeing the regional air travel segment with the aircraft startup. "While building Zomato and flying across India, Deepinder and I kept circling back to the same question: Why is regional air travel still so broken - expensive, infrequent and mostly out of reach unless you live in a metro? India has 450 airstrips - but only 150 see commercial flights. That means nearly two-thirds of our aviation potential is being wasted. Meanwhile, millions in Tier 2 and 3 cities spend hours - sometimes days - traveling by road or rail," Das said in a LinkedIn post. Goyal's bet on the aviation venture could redefine regional air travel in India which is at a nascent stage, as uncertainty remains over regulatory clearance, technological capability and public adoption. The reported development on LAT Aerospace comes days after Deepinder Goyal bought a nearly 11,000 sq ft apartment in DLF's ultra luxury project in Gurugram for ₹ 52.3 crore. According to Zapkey, the Zomato co-founder bought this apartment in 'DLF Camellias' project from DLF Ltd in August 2022. The registration of the house was done in March this year.

Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal-Backed LAT Aviation Acquires Bombardier Private Jet

LAT Aerospace, backed by Zomato's Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal, has acquired a Bombardier Global series private jet LAT Aerospace, backed by Zomato's Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal, has acquired a Bombardier Global series private jet, sources familiar with the development told Moneycontrol. The aircraft has been stationed at Delhi Airport's VIP bay since June 2025 and is reportedly scheduled to operate today, July 16. According to Moneycontrol, ground handling and engineering services for the aircraft are being provided by Indamer MJets Airport Services and Bird Execujet Airport Services. However, the publication noted that details such as the aircraft's exact model, registration number, and the purpose of today's flight remain unverified. The private jet acquisition comes shortly after Goyal reportedly registered a Rs 52.3 crore luxury apartment in DLF's The Camellias in Gurugram. As of June 2025, Goyal holds 36.95 crore shares (3.83% stake) in Zomato, with a market value of around Rs 9,847 crore, according to Moneycontrol. Forbes estimates his net worth at $1.6 billion. While the exact model is not confirmed, a Bombardier Global 8000, equipped with Ka-band Wi-Fi, carries a list price of $78 million. A Global 6500 costs around $56 million new, while pre-owned variants typically range between $30–$45 million, depending on age and condition. Private jet purchases attract a 28% IGST for personal use. However, for commercial operators, the tax rate is only 5%, making the NSOP model financially more viable. According to Moneycontrol, India had 114 active NSOP holders as of June 2024. LAT Aerospace and Goyal's Aviation Bet Goyal launched LAT Aerospace in June 2025, as revealed in a LinkedIn post by co-founder Surobhi Das. The startup aims to revolutionise regional air travel in India—an area long plagued by high costs, low connectivity, and underutilised infrastructure. 'While building Zomato and flying across India, Deepinder and I kept circling back to the same question: Why is regional air travel still so broken, expensive, infrequent, and mostly out of reach unless you live in a metro?" Das wrote. LAT Aerospace has reportedly raised $50 million in funding, with Goyal contributing $20 million. The company is currently hiring aerospace engineers, systems designers, and aviation enthusiasts to develop its regional aviation platform. Diverse Ventures and India's Private Jet Ecosystem Beyond Zomato, Blinkit, and LAT Aerospace, Goyal also launched Continue, a wellness and mental health venture, under Upslope Advisors Pvt Ltd. India's private aviation sector has seen strong momentum in recent years, driven by favorable tax reforms and infrastructure investments. Initiatives like GIFT City's aircraft leasing program, customs duty relief (2.5–3%), and GST reductions have further fueled interest in private jet ownership. As per Moneycontrol, India currently has the largest private jet fleet in South Asia and ranks third in the Asia-Pacific region, with over 151 registered business jets. To support this growth, airports across India have launched or revamped General Aviation (GA) terminals. Notable examples include: Delhi IGI Airport, which launched India's first GA terminal in 2020. Mumbai Airport, which revamped its luxury GA terminal in 2022. Kochi Airport, where PM Modi inaugurated a 40,000 sq ft business jet terminal in December 2022. Hyderabad Airport, which unveiled a new GA terminal in September 2024. The global business jet market, valued at over $24 billion in 2020, is projected to reach $37 billion by 2028, according to Statista. In India, rising demand is being driven by a growing ultra-high-net-worth individual (UHNI) population, expected to surge 50% by 2028. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. New Paint Facility at Bombardier's London Biggin Hill Service Centre Progressing to Plan as Structure Takes Shape

MONTREAL, July 08, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bombardier announced today that the development of a new 51,000 sq. ft. paint facility at the London Biggin Hill Service Centre is progressing in earnest with several key processes completed, including ground stabilization and foundation work on the hangar. The hangar steel framework continues to progress and the cladding works have also commenced. Bromley and Biggin Hill Member of Parliament, Peter Fortune, visited the London Biggin Hill Service Centre on July 4, which provided him with a closer look at the exceptional aerospace expertise at the service centre and the development of its most recent expansion. Bombardier's new two-bay paint facility is expected to employ more than 50 skilled paint technicians and will be the perfect complement to the close to 250,000 sq. ft. service facility, which is fully equipped to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications and avionics installations for Bombardier Global , Challenger and Learjet aircraft. With a targeted completion date in the second half of 2026, the new paint facility will add to the centre's comprehensive service options, ensuring Bombardier's customers have a top-tier option for all their paint needs. 'The addition of the new paint facility at the London Biggin Hill Airport adds a sought-after service element to the already comprehensive offerings for our customers, ensuring they have a complete maintenance experience to help keep their aircraft in the air,' said Sander Podgoric, General Manager of the London Biggin Hill Service Centre. 'The London Biggin Hill Service Centre brings hundreds of high-paying jobs to Bromley and Biggin Hill County. We are delighted to showcase this important facility to Bromley and Biggin Hill Member of Parliament, Peter Fortune, building on our shared vision of producing high-paying jobs in the region.' 'It was incredible to see behind-the-scenes at Bombardier's state of the art engineering facility. It is a great benefit for the borough to have a multinational company like Bombardier set their European flagship service facility here,' said Peter Fortune, Bromley and Biggin Hill Member of Parliament. 'It is exciting to see their commitment to developing in Bromley with the construction of their new paint facility, creating more local jobs and opportunities, and speaks volumes for the fantastic job that London Biggin Hill Airport does attracting inward investment to the region.' Inaugurated in 2017 and expanded in 2022 to nearly 250,000 sq. ft., the Bombardier Biggin Hill service centre serves as an important economic driver at the London Biggin Hill Airport and the London Borough of Bromley. It is a shining example of how Bombardier continues to enhance the accessibility of its OEM expertise for customers worldwide, redefining its position as a leader in service and support capabilities. The addition of the new paint facility isn't the only new development at the service centre.. In 2024, Bombardier and F/LIST announced the opening of a contemporary 700-sq. ft. material lounge to provide customers with access to the largest, most comprehensive portfolio of interior materials housed at one of its international service centres. Bombardier also announced last year the addition of more than 3,000 solar panels on the roof of the service centre and a new line maintenance station at the nearby Farnborough Airport providing light scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as well as Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support.
