AOC isn't radical enough for the anti-Israel Left. It's a sinister sign of the future
'AOC funds genocide in Gaza', announced a sign posted outside the Bronx campaign office of progressive New York Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In a particularly chilling gesture, the office's windows were splattered with red paint, including a splotch big enough to blot out an image of her face. An anti-Israel group called the 'Boogie Down Liberation Front' took responsibility for Monday night's act of vandalism in a message to a local journalist, stating 'The Bronx is sick and tired of people like AOC … using us as a stepping stone for their own political careers'. It added that their community 'stands with the people of Palestine and we denounce the hypocrisy of AOC who voted to fund Israel's ongoing genocide and starvation campaign in Gaza.' At immediate issue was Ocasio-Cortez's vote last Friday against an amendment to a military spending bill that would have cut millions in aid to Israel for its air defence systems. The amendment, which only six Congressmen supported, was proposed by Ocasio-Cortez's polar political opposite, Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican Congresswoman from Georgia, whose apparent motivation was her belief that Israel no longer requires American taxpayer assistance due to its successful military operations earlier this year. Greene's amendment was also supported by noted anti-Israel Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. Ocasio-Cortez has argued that the amendment would have done 'nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza'. She maintains that she still believes Israel is committing genocide, but that it should not be denied defensive weapons. That was not enough for some increasingly extreme factions on the Left, however, which consider approving any amount of support for Israel to be unacceptable. It should go without saying that nobody should be cheering on the vandalism of any politician's campaign office. Ocasio-Cortez's campaign has also revealed that she has received an increased number of death threats in recent days – a disturbing reminder that political violence is never far from the surface in American politics today. It also says something very concerning about where the American Left is heading that she should become a target of their vitriol. Back in 2018, she had a roaring start on the Left-wing of the Democratic Party. A one-time barmaid who claimed to speak progressive, working class truth to corporate power, regardless of party, she rode the anti-incumbency trend in the midterm elections of Donald Trump's first presidency to become the youngest woman ever to sit in the US Congress. She went on to be one of the very few American politicians so well known that her initials often supersede her name, a distinction usually reserved for presidents of the order of FDR or JFK. In office, AOC emerged as the best known member of the 'Squad', a small group of Left-wing Congresswomen whom many progressives hailed as the future of US politics. Her radical agenda made her a role model for young Democrats who distrust their party's older and more moderate leadership, and a bugbear for flustered Republicans who only made her more popular in constant media attacks. In recent years, however, AOC seems to have lost her progressive lustre, even if her politics haven't really changed. Last year, her stance on Israel caused the Democratic Socialists of America – a national progressive organisation that had backed her since her first standing for office – to withdraw its endorsement, accusing her of 'deep betrayal'. AOC clearly retains substantial popularity among Democrats – at over $15 million, her campaign contributions in 2025 exceed those of all other members of Congress this year as she considers greater ambitions, possibly including a primary challenge to fellow Democrat Chuck Schumer for his New York Senate seat. Some 72 per cent of those funds came from outside her congressional district. But the vandalism at her office – alongside other trends, like the emergence of Zohran Mamdani as the Democrat nominee for mayor of New York City – suggests that the Left is beginning to turn in a far more sinister direction. Ocasio-Cortez's Office Is Vandalized After Vote on Funds for Israel
The Bronx campaign office of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was defaced shortly after midnight on Monday by masked vandals, who blotted out her image with red paint and left a sign saying 'AOC funds genocide in Gaza.' The episode was among the most high profile in a spate of recent acts of vandalism targeting elected officials in New York with pro-Palestinian or anti-Israel messages. It took place just days after a contentious vote on defense funding for Israel roiled the left. A group calling itself the Boogie Down Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the vandalism and accused Ms. Ocasio-Cortez of supporting Israel's war in Gaza, according to Ashoka Jegroo, an independent journalist. The New York Times could not verify the group's involvement or the identity of masked vandals captured in surveillance video. A spokesman for the Police Department said on Tuesday that no arrests had been made and that an investigation into the vandalism was ongoing. Oliver Hidalgo-Wohlleben, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez's campaign manager, said the congresswoman had also seen an uptick in credible death threats in recent days. He said no one had been inside the office when it was vandalized. 'We take it very seriously,' he said. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive who represents parts of Queens and the Bronx, is not the most obvious target for pro-Palestinian protesters. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

‘F**k AOC': Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Bronx headquarters vandalised
US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's headquarters in the Bronx, New York, was vandalised by anti-Israel protesters. AOC's office was attacked after the far-left 'Squad' member voted against cutting US funding for Israel. On Sunday, the headquarters was seen splattered with red paint and adorned with signs accusing Cortez of funding "genocide in Gaza". Cortez's decision to vote against stopping the Jewish state's missile defence funding went against her fellow Squad members' votes. The group Boogie Down Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the attack, according to reporter Ashoka Jegroo.

AOC's Bronx office terrorized by fake blood and horrid accusations by her own supporters in twist
Outspoken New York progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems to have gotten a taste of her own medicine. A disturbing video made its rounds on X Monday morning of the congresswoman's Bronx campaign headquarters being vandalized in red paint with a note attached to the front gate reading 'AOC Funds Genocide in Gaza.' The glass directly covering photograph of the congresswoman's face was entirely obscured by red paint as well. The viral video footage of the incident also shows the NYPD's evidence collection team arriving to remove the sign and investigate the scene. The unhinged action came days after AOC voted against an amendment proposed by MAGA Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to cut funding to Israel 's 'golden dome' air defense systems by $500 million. The amendment to the annual military spending package - known as the National Defense Appropriations Act, or NDAA - was backed by only six members of the House of Representatives. Only GOP firebrand Thomas Massie and AOC's leftist 'Squad' sisters of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib supported MTG's flamboyant amendment. A group called the Boogie Down Liberation Front took responsibility for the attack on AOC's office. In a statement, the group noted that 'the Bronx is sick and tired of people like AOC and Ritchie Torres using us as a stepping stone for their own political careers.' 'The Bronx stands with the people of Palestine and we denounce the hypocrisy of AOC who voted to fund Israel's ongoing genocide and starvation campaign in Gaza. F**K AOC!,' the group added. Ocasio-Cortez issued a statement Saturday which explained her vote against the amendment, noting that it 'does nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza.' 'I have long stated that I do not believe that adding to the death count of innocent victims to this war is constructive to its end,' Ocasio-Cortez added. 'I remain focused on cutting the flow of US munitions that are being used to perpetuate the genocide,' the New York Democrat concluded. Marjorie Taylor Greene's amendment does nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza. Of course I voted against it. What it does do is cut off defensive Iron Dome capacities while allowing the actual bombs killing Palestinians to… — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 19, 2025 The irony of AOC, a vocal progressive who has also advocated for defunding the police, being treated like this by activists of her own political realm was not lost on social media users. X user @nikhil0582 wrote, ' . I have been waiting when the crazy lefties come after her.' Another user who posts under the handle of @NaMesoAtta noted 'These freaks are absolutely allergic to anything resembling actual power. They'd much rather get likes on Instagram doing dumb stuff like this than ask why their own movement has zero political power whatsoever and why that might be.' X user @OriginalBad described the attackers as 'nutjobs who want to do nothing but lose elections.' In 2020, AOC's congressional office reposted a Marie Claire magazine article about the representative's views on defunding the police. That article noted that 'Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is among the proponents of the call to defund the police' and in her view a community that spends less money on policing looks 'like a suburb.' 'Affluent white communities already live in a world where the choose to fund youth, health, housing etc more than they fund police,' Ocasio-Cortex noted at the time.
