Here's the first trailer for Jeremy Allen White's Bruce Springsteen biopic
In the process of dealing with his newfound fame following the success of Born To Run , Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River , Springsteen recorded the new songs with a simple four-track recorder alone in the bedroom of a house he was renting in New Jersey, originally not intending to turn it into an album. It was met with critical acclaim and paved the way for his next release, the era-defining Born in the USA . Springsteen himself is actively involved in the project, with the film being an adaptation of Warren Zanes's 2023 book about the period, Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's 'Nebraska'. Courtesy of Disney Joining Jeremy as The Boss? Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong as Springsteen's long-time confidant and manager, Jon Landau; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Stephen Graham as Bruce's father, Doug; Gaby Hoffmann as his mother, Adele; Odessa Young as his love interest, Faye; Marc Maron as record producer Chuck Plotkin; and David Krumholtz as Columbia executive Al Teller, all under the expert direction of Crazy Heart 's Scott Cooper. Courtesy of Disney And, startlingly, the release date isn't that far off either: 24 October 2025, when the film will hit the big screen and have us all listening to Springsteen on repeat yet again. Bruce Springsteen explains why he felt 'capable of handling' fame at the height of his career
Bruce Springsteen felt "capable of handling" fame when he was at the height of his career. The 75-year-old rock legend first enjoyed success with his Born To Run record in the mid-1970s and then had a major resurgence with Born in the U.S.A. a decade later, and admitted that while he had "no particular interest" in staying at that level of fame, it was a "cool thing" at the time. He told The Sunday Times: "Well, I was 35. I had previous experience [of fame] at 25, so I was capable of handling the moment. Ninety per cent I enjoyed the ride, 10 per cent of it was stressful, and my take on it now is that it was a cool thing to be at the height of the cultural conversation in the pop world for a while. I just didn't have any particular interest in staying there. That's a fool's game." The Dancing in the Dark hitmaker also fronts the E Street Band but now lives in New Jersey with his wife and co-star Patti Scialfa - with whom he has Evan, 34, Jessica, 33, as well as 31-year-old Samuel - and inisisted that the kind of work he does now is more "important than the money" about more about "writing great" music. He said: "Of course, and I was lucky enough to have Elvis, the Beatles and Bob Dylan, to follow in their footsteps — or not follow in their footsteps. From there I learnt how important it was not to lose focus on who I am or the work I'm doing. It's more important than the money, although it's great to get paid well. It's more important than the fame, although that can be fun too, and a nuisance on occasion. I simply wanted to write great songs, play great shows and have a conversation with a great audience. It is what I've dedicated my life to doing.'

Is Jeremy Allen White Singing In Bruce Springsteen Biopic?
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The first trailer for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White dropped yesterday, and featured a clip of White singing the Springsteen classic Born To Run. Fans though, had the same question after watching the clip: is that actually White singing? This is what we know. Newsweek has contacted a representative for White for comment via email. The Context Deliver Me From Nowhere follows Springsteen as he records his sixth studio album, Nebraska. The film is written and directed by Scott Cooper based on Warren Zanes' 2023 biography Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska. More Jakubaszek/for FX Networks The film also stars Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, Springsteen's manager and record producer, Stephen Graham as Douglas Springsteen, Bruce's father and Odessa Young as Faye, Bruce's love interest in the film. What To Know White does in fact sing in the film, telling E! News in May "I sing in the film." Speaking to GQ in August of last year, White said "There's just so much footage. It's really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice." White has even been praised for his singing in the film by the Boss himself, with Springsteen telling Jim Rotolo in a Sirius XM interview "He sings very well." Springsteen is the latest star to get the biopic treatment. Timothée Chalamet starred as Bob Dylan in 2024's A Complete Unknown. Chalamet did his own signing, with no lip-synching, and trained for five years for the role. He worked with a vocal coach, guitar coach, harmonica coach and dialect coach to master Dylan's voice. The production recorded between 35 and 40 Dylan songs, all of which were performed live on set. In Baz Luhrmann's 2022 biopic Elvis, Austin Butler took on the role of the King of rock 'n' roll. Butler also sings in the movie, with his voice being exclusively used in scenes which depict Elvis in his younger years. Later in the film, Butler's vocals were mixed with Elvis' for the Las Vegas era of his career. For Bohemian Rhapsody, the 2018 biopic about the life of Queen singer Freddie Mercury, Rami Malek, who portrayed Mercury sang, but the voice heard in the film is a studio-crafted blend of Mercury, Malek and Canadian musician Marc Martel. This mixed vocal though, isn't on the film's soundtrack which is instead solely comprised Queen's original recordings. What People Are Saying Jeremy Allen White, speaking to GQ in an August interview last year: "I'm really lucky that there's sort of a team of folks now in place to help young actors portray rock stars. I've got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing." @ohhhhhherewegoo on X in response to the film's trailer, in a post viewed over 447,000 times: "can't believe this is jeremy allen white's voice." @senseofurgee, in a post on X viewed 84,900 times: "i'm 99% sure jeremy did all the singing himself, he had a vocal coach and learned how to play the guitar for this role specifically. i don't think he'd go through all that trouble just to use ai to help him out. bruce himself couldn't tell the difference." What's Next The film is set to be released on October 24, 2025.

Deliver Me from Nowhere trailer: Jeremy Allen White sings Springsteen's biggest hits, divides fans
Jeremy Allen White might not be the first person you'd picture playing The Boss but the new trailer for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, might just change your mind. Best known for his Emmy-winning role in The Bear, White transforms into the rock legend as the movie revisits the period following Springsteen's 1980 pop breakthrough Hungry Heart. In the trailer, he's seen strumming the guitar, playing harmonica, and singing both Nebraska's title track and the anthemic Born To Run. To nail the role, White didn't cut corners. 'There's just so much footage,' he told GQ last year. 'It's really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice. It's been really fun preparing.' Springsteen himself was a regular on set and has given his stamp of approval. 'He's got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognise and he's just done a great job, so I've had a lot of fun,' said the star. He even praised White as 'a terrific actor' who sings 'very well.' The film, directed by Scott Cooper and based on Warren Zanes' book, digs into the deeply personal phase of Springsteen's life during the early '80s — a time of creative tension, introspection, and emotional reckoning. Much of Nebraska was recorded alone by Springsteen in his Colts Neck, New Jersey home, capturing a rawness rarely seen in mainstream music at the time. White, now 33, is close in age to Springsteen when he made the album. Initial reactions are mixed. 'Nebraska is one of my all time favorite albums. Absolutely cannot wait for this!' wrote one Reddit user. Another chimed in, 'Came here to say the same thing. Got chills hearing the opening of Nebraska in this clip. Can't believe they went with that. Everyone knows Bruce from Born to Run and Born in the USA, but I think Nebraska and The Ghost of Tom Joad are his finest work.' Still, not everyone is convinced. 'Jeremy Allen White just doesn't look like Bruce at least 50% of the time,' one fan noted. 'But then some shots (like the ones at 0:27 and 0:28) look really close.' Another wrote, 'He seems to really nail the physicality while playing guitar, eerily so… but yeah, cautiously… well I don't know if I'm optimistic. This is a very Dewey Cox trailer.' There's also buzz about the source material. One fan of the book remarked, 'The author, Warren Zanes, focuses on the period between the end of The River Tour and the release of Born in the USA. This was a critical, existential period for Springsteen. If the movie indeed focuses on the making of Nebraska, it will not be your run of the mill birth-to-death musical biopic.' Others, however, weren't feeling the trailer's vibe. 'Any interest I might have had completely diminished as I saw Scott Cooper's name,' said one. 'Man has had an uncanny ability, in my experience, to completely fumble every single one of his films.' Another added, 'I think it's silly to release biopics about people who are still alive.' And then there's the skepticism many seem to share: 'This looks corny af. Feels almost like a parody trailer. Also not vibing with Jeremy as Springsteen here. Maybe it's just the trailer and the movie will be good.' This biopic is already striking a chord, and it hasn't even hit theaters yet.

See Jeremy Allen White Perform Bruce Springsteen's 'Born To Run' in First 'Deliver Me From Nowhere' Trailer
Jeremy Allen White is stepping into Bruce Springsteen's shoes for his next big screen role. On Wednesday, June 18, 205h Century Studios released the trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, a biopic that stars White, 34, as Springsteen while he records his sixth album "Nebraska." The trailer meets Springsteen recording music in a home with his guitar tech (Paul Walter Hauser) as his manager Jon Landau (Jeremy Strong) persuades Columbia Records executives to let him release the stripped-back album. The movie appears to explore Springsteen's relationship with his childhood; the trailer also shows footage of The Bear star during an energetic performance of Springsteen's 1975 classic "Born To Run. The movie "chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen's 1982 'Nebraska' album when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past," reads an official synopsis. "Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen's New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works—a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe," the synopsis adds. White and Strong appeared together at CinemaCon in April to tease the movie, with White stating that making the movie "was incredible, challenging and a dream come true." "I feel really lucky. We all had Bruce's blessing," White told an audience at the time. "The film tells the story of a very pivotal moment, Bruce struggling to reconcile the pressures of success versus his past." The movie is written and directed by Scott Cooper and based on author Warren Zanes' book of the same name. Beyond White, Strong and Hauser, the movie's cast also features Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron and David Krumholtz. Springsteen himself visited the set of the biopic multiple times in fall 2024 and early 2025; he and White were snapped sharing a hug on set, and the legendary rock musician also posed on set with Matthew Anthony Pellicano, who plays Springsteen as a child in the upcoming movie.
