Water bottle caps recycled into resting benches in Tadoba

Nagpur: Next time you rest during a safari in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), you might be sitting on a bench made entirely from used water bottle caps. As part of a collaboration between a packaged drinking water company and the Maharashtra Forest Department, ten benches made from 100% recycled plastic have been installed across Tadoba's tourist rest points. This initiative is part of company's corporate social responsibility programme 'Bottles for Change', which promotes plastic waste segregation and recycling. According to a statement released by the company, these benches — referred to as 'Bench of Dreams' — have been donated along with plastic collection bins and awareness boards across the reserve. The campaign aims to spread awareness about responsible plastic disposal. The company's, director, (sustainability and communications), K Ganesh, said, "We are committed to driving behavioural change by empowering citizens through awareness programmes. Our partnership with Tadoba is a crucial step towards creating a circular economy and supporting plastic waste management in the reserve." Tadoba's Deputy Conservator of Forests (Core) Anand Reddy said, "Wildlife conservation plays a vital role in achieving the sustainable development goals. This initiative supports both ecological balance and sustainability."
