Bou Saab urges constructive dialogue, questions government commitment to liberation clause
From the floor of Parliament, Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab noted that the current general policy debate marked a rare moment of institutional dialogue in years, warning that 'the deep divisions in the country will lead nowhere.' Bou Saab further questioned the government's commitment to a key clause in the Taif Accord, asking: 'The government has pledged, according to the National Reconciliation Document adopted in Taif, to take all necessary measures to liberate all occupied territories from Israeli control. How exactly has the government fulfilled this commitment?' On judicial reform, Bou Saab called for the swift adoption of a draft law currently under review by the Administration and Justice Committee, saying, 'Reforming the judiciary is the cornerstone of restoring the state.' Addressing Education Minister Rima Karami he added: 'God help you — we've had an exceptional year. I urge you to take that into account when overseeing the correction of official exam results.'

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri chaired a meeting of the Parliament Bureau, attended by his deputy, MP Elias Bou Saab, the Secretaries of the Parliament Council, Hadi Abou Al- Hessen and Alain Aoun, the Commissioners, MPs Michel Moussa, Karim Kabbara, and Hagop Pakradounian, and the Parliament's Secretary-General, Adnan Daher. After the meeting, MP Bou Saab said that there is a general assembly- general legislative session on Monday. After the meeting, Bou Saab said that a general legislative session will be held upcoming Monday. In response to a question about the discussion of the parliamentary elections law, Bou Saab said that Speaker Berri stressed the need to study all proposed electoral laws. On the other hand, Speaker Berri received in Ain el-Tineh, Presidential Advisor for Reconstruction Affairs Ali Hamieh, with whom he discussed the general situation and the reconstruction dossier. Moreover, Berri offered his deepest condolences to Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, John X Yazigi, over the victims of the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted the Mar Elias Church in the Douweileh neighborhood of Damascus last night. Berri also extended his deepest condolences to the sons of the Orthodox Church in Syria and Lebanon, as well as the families of the fallen victims of the Mar Elias Church bomb attack, and wished the wounded speedy recovery.

Bou Saab, UK Ambassador discuss reforms, urge ceasefire compliance
Deputy Parliament Speaker Elias Bou Saab met with British Ambassador Hamish Cowell with whom he discussed reform laws passed or under review in Parliament. Cowell said Lebanon has a real chance to restore international trust, and that reforms would support this effort. Bou Saab noted Speaker Nabih Berri has called for an extraordinary session to expedite key legislation, stressing the need for the government to submit the financial gap law so Parliament can pass it alongside the banking restructuring law. He also requested UK support, alongside France and the US, to pressure Israel to respect the ceasefire. Bou Saab also met Information Ministry staff.

Elias Bou Saab during ministerial statement discussion: Calls for cooperation and political dialogue
During the parliamentary session to discuss the ministerial statement, Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Elias Bou Saab emphasized the need for cooperation between the current government and the Parliament, urging both to demonstrate to the Lebanese people that change is possible through dialogue and away from a mentality of winners and losers. Bou Saab highlighted the state's responsibility not to neglect any region of Lebanon, stressing that if the state fails to act, alternative forces might take over and fulfill necessary duties towards citizens. He also raised concerns over Israel's intentions, stating that Lebanon has adhered to agreements while Israel has not, and its ambitions remain persistent. "We urge the state to declare how it plans to address Israel's ambitions," Bou Saab added. Furthermore, Bou Saab reiterated his appeal to the President of the Republic to invite all parties to engage in genuine dialogue. He stressed the need for the current government to identify corrupt individuals and the scope of corruption cases. He reiterated the importance of pursuing significant changes in investigations related to corruption. Bou Saab highlighted the positive discussions about depositors' funds but stressed that these discussions are insufficient. He called for accountability, demanding a thorough investigation into the mismanagement and disappearance of funds. Bou Saab also called for a review of financial engineering practices and a crackdown on thefts, urging the government to take firm action on these critical issues. He stated that the government would receive confidence but emphasized the importance of maintaining direct monthly communication for accountability.
