Broncos roster: JB Brown (No. 50) looking to impress at LB
Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie linebacker JB Brown, No. 50. Before the Broncos: Brown (6-2, 220 pounds) played for Bowling Green University from 2020-22, where he played in 30 games. In that time, Brown recorded 75 combined tackles (48 solo, 27 assisted), six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass deflection, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. Advertisement Brown then transferred to Kansas ahead of the 2023 season. In 25 games, Brown recorded 131 tackles (91 solo, 40 assisted), 16 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, four pass deflections, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. In 2024, Brown had his best statistical year in college with 74 total tackles (52 solo, 22 assisted), 10 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks, earning an honorable mention All-Big 12 nod at linebacker. Broncos tenure: Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos after attending the team's rookie minicamp in May. He is set to make his Bronco debut during preseason this summer. Chances to make the 53-man roster: On the bubble. Brown will be battling it out with fellow undrafted free agent rookie Karene Reid (among others) for a backup role at inside linebacker. Michigan State women's basketball has taken a very positive revolution under new head coach Robyn Fralick. After coming over from Bowling Green, Fralick is entering her third season in East Lansing. Sparking the program from a middle ground it was stuck in, Fralick has made the NCAA Tournament in both years with the program, making the first round in 2024 and following it up with a Round of 32 appearance in 2025. Now, with the upcoming 2025-26 year nearing, the goals are getting bigger for the Spartans. On Wednesday, with the Big Ten Network featuring all things Michigan State, Fralick spoke with the network, talking about the momentum her program is building and ho they plan to use that momentum to continue their success in the upcoming season. Texas A&M has reportedly reached out to Bowling Green transfer guard
Texas A&M has reached out to Graduate transfer from Bowling Green Derrick Butler!Two spots left on the Aggies squad and Butler could add a great spark to the squad. Butlers splits were 13.2 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.0 APG on 34.5% from 3pt land Texas A&M's basketball program is on the rise under new head coach Bucky McMillan, who is just two players away from completing his first roster ahead of the 2025 season. Right now, 11 transfers, one 2025 signee, and international shooting guard Rubén Domínguez make up the roster, but they need two more signees to reach the 15-player threshold. On Wednesday, it was revealed that McMillan has reached out to one of the top uncommitted transfers, graduate guard Derrick Butler from Bowling Green, who averaged 13.2 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, and one assist, while shooting an impressive 41.2% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc. Texas A&M's current guard rotation already includes Pop Isaacs, Jacari Lane, Marcus Hill, and Josh Holloway. Still, the roster needs at least one more veteran who can provide a spark off the bench and provide depth for conference play and the postseason. Butler is more than capable of making his way to College Station at the end of the month, joining the summer conditioning/practice sessions, and competing for minutes ahead of his final collegiate season. Butler's experience and playmaking skill set align perfectly with McMillan's fast-paced system, which is designed around offensive efficiency. This trait has never been an issue during his time with the Falcons. McMillan has time to add his final two players, and this is certainly a solid start with the 2025 season just around the corner. Montgomery assigns former Vols' baseball signee to High-A ahead of playing at Knoxville
The Smokies will open a six-game home series versus Montgomery on Tuesday at Covenant Health Park in Knoxville, Tennessee. First pitch for Tuesday's series opener between Knoxville and the Biscuits is slated for 7 p.m. EDT. Former Tennessee baseball signee Ryan Spikes is not on Montgomery's roster for the series. The Rays assigned him to Bowling Green, a High-A affiliate for Tampa Bay. Spikes started the 2025 minor league season on April 6 with Bowling Green. He played three games with Triple-A Durham from April 24-26. Tampa Bay assigned Spikes to Bowling Green on April 29, and then Montgomery on May 13. He was again designated to Bowling Green for 11 games on June 17. The second baseman returned to Montgomery for three games from July 2-3 before being assigned to Bowling Green on July 5. Spikes was part of the Vols' 2021 baseball signing class, along with Brady House, Chase Burns, Christian Moore, Drew Beam, Blake Burke and Kavares Tears. He committed to Tennessee from Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia and was the Vols' third-highest prospect in 2021, according to Perfect Game. Spikes was selected by Tampa Bay in the third round of the 2021 MLB draft (No. 100 overall).
