Here's everything we know so far about Boys II Planet. What Is Boys II Planet? Boys II Planet is a global K-pop survival show created by Mnet, designed to discover and debut a new boy group. As a follow-up to Boys Planet and Girls Planet 999 , the show builds on the space-themed aesthetic, introducing a 'multiverse' concept. Originally planned as Planet B , it will feature two simultaneous programs— Boys II Planet K (Korean) and Boys II Planet C (Chinese)—but with a twist: instead of debuting two separate groups, the narratives will converge to form a single global boy group. This innovative format aims to showcase raw talent from around the world, regardless of nationality, and create a group with universal appeal. Fans will play a crucial role in voting for their favorite contestants, shaping the final lineup. Premiere Dates and Broadcast Details Boys II Planet is confirmed to premiere in the summer of 2025, with the following schedule: Boys II Planet K : July 17, 2025 Boys II Planet C: July 18, 2025 The show will air on Mnet in South Korea and be simulcast on platforms like iQIYI, AbemaTV, and Mnet Japan. Global fans can stream episodes on Viki, Viu, and Mnet's YouTube channel (Mnet K-Pop) in select regions. The two programs will follow the same format, produced in Korean and Chinese, respectively, ensuring accessibility for a broad audience. Contestants and Applications Boys II Planet features 154 contestants—80 in Planet K and 74 in Planet C —after six participants withdrew. The contestant profiles were unveiled on June 12, 2025, showcasing a diverse mix of trainees from South Korea, China, and other countries. Notable participants include: Members of debuted groups like BLITZERS, BOY STORY, DKB, DRIPPIN, MCND, The Wind, VERIVERY, WEi, and WHIB. Former survival show contestants from programs like MAKE MATE 1 , Starlight Boys , Project 7 , LOUD , and Universe League . Confirmed trainees such as KRYSTIAN, XUAN HAO, CHEN RENYOU, DANG HONGHAI, SEOWON, CAI JINXIN, and LEE JUNSEO. DKB's Heechan and Harry-June, The Wind's Thanatorn, WHIB's Leejeong, Jayder, and Wonjun, and VERIVERY's Dongheon, Gyehyeon, and Kangmin. Trainees from agencies like Yuehua Entertainment (four participants) and WithUs Entertainment (two participants). Applications opened on November 22, 2024, for boys born before January 1, 2012, regardless of nationality. The application period was extended to March 23, 2025, for Planet K and March 2, 2025, for Planet C . Additional auditions were held in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam in February 2025 to recruit local talent. Fans can vote for contestants via the Mnet Plus app, with a two-day blind pick opened on June 9, 2025. Mentors and Masters Boys II Planet boasts a stellar lineup of mentors, including: Vocal Masters : Lim Han Byul, Hyolyn (former SISTAR member), Lee Seok-hoon. Dance Masters : Baek Gu Young, Choi Young Jun. Special Idol Masters: Sung Hanbin and Zhang Hao from ZEROBASEONE, who debuted through Boys Planet . SEOUL: Popular South Korean reality survival show Boys Planet is back with a second season, Boys II Planet, and it features the nephew of Taiwanese legendary singer Teresa Teng. Deng Jiajun, 22, is contestant number 148, and one of nine Taiwanese participating in the show. Jiajun, the son of the late Teng's brother Jim, is 1.8 metres tall and used to work in a luxury boutique. HK01 reported recently that the late singer's elder brother Frank, who is the chairman of the Deng Lijun Foundation, said: "Jiajun joined the competition for fun and because it's his interest. "We're thankful for the attention he's received." Teng died at the age of 42 in 1994 while Jiajun's father died in Shanghai in 2008 aged 55. The show will first kick off with its 154 contestants divided into two groups, Boys II Planet K, which is made up of trainees from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and other countries, and Boys II Planet C for Chinese contestants. Both groups will be combined later on in the competition, with the top trainees debuting as an idol group. Boys II Planet K will air on July 17, and Boys II Planet C will premiere on July 18.
