Rs 5000000000: India's most expensive wedding had 15 choppers for guests, saree for Rs 17 crore, jewellery for Rs 90 crore; no connection with Mukesh Ambani
New Delhi: When former Karnataka minister Janardhan Reddy married his daughter, a lot of money was spent on it. No one has been able to forget this wedding till date. So much money was spent on this wedding that it is beyond the reach of a common man. The price of the saree worn by the bride at the time of the wedding was Rs 17 crore while the price of the jewellery is said to be around Rs 90 crore. Reddy spent a total of Rs 500 crore for his daughter Brahmani's marriage nine years ago. That wedding was no less than a dream and attracted the attention of not only the state but the entire country and the world. 15 helicopters for guests The bride's saree cost Rs 17 crore. It was a Kanjeevaram saree with pure gold thread work. The jewellery worn by the bride was worth Rs 90 crore. Such a wedding had never happened in the country before. Brahmani's wedding took place on 6 November 2016 for which 2000 cabs and 15 helicopters were hired for commuting the guests. Reddy family had booked around 1500 rooms in all five- and three-star hotels of Bangalore. Around 3000 security personnel were deployed at the venue. All the members of the Reddy family dressed up like kings and wore gold and diamond jewellery worth crores of rupees. The wedding ceremony lasted for five days. Special arrangements for guests A royal thali was prepared for every guest in which 16 types of sweets were served. Not only this, about 40 royal bullock carts were deployed to bring and take the guests from the entry gate to the wedding hall whose decoration was very beautiful. Eight priests were called from Tirumala temple for this wedding. Brahmani's wedding was no less than a royal wedding. From clothes to wedding venue, decoration, groom and bride's pavilion, food items, even the arrangements made for the stay of the guests, were such that people were left awestruck. Makeup worth Rs 30 lakhs The beautician who did the bride's makeup was specially called from Mumbai who was given 6 lakh rupees. Apart from the bride, more than 50 famous makeup artists of Bangalore were hired for other guests as well. More than 30 lakhs were spent on them.

World Turtle Day: UP's success story in conservation
1 2 Lucknow: In a remarkable push towards wildlife preservation, the Yogi govt has taken unprecedented measures to conserve turtle species across Uttar Pradesh. As the world celebrates World Turtle Day on May 23 to raise awareness about the protection and biological significance of turtles, UP stands out with its proactive efforts. Turtles are considered one of the oldest and longest-living creatures on earth and play a vital role in maintaining aquatic ecosystems. Often referred to as the "cleaners of water bodies", these creatures help control pollution in rivers, ponds and lakes. Turtles rescued from illegal trafficking in other states are being relocated and protected in UP. Several conservation centres have been established, including those in Kukrail, Sarnath and Chambal, along with a dedicated Turtle Sanctuary near Prayagraj. These centres serve as safe habitats and breeding grounds for various turtle species. Under the Namami Gange projects, work has also started to identify and protect turtles and their natural habitats. A turtle sanctuary has been set up near Prayagraj. Arvind Yadav, DFO, Prayagraj, said the sanctuary was established in 2020. It covers a 30-kilometre area and stretches across three districts — starting from Kothari Meja in Prayagraj, passing through Mirzapur and Bhadohi, and reaching up to Uparwar. Out of 30 species of turtles found in India, 15 are found in UP, including Brahmani, Pacheda, Kori Pacheda, Kalitoh, Kala Kacchua, Haldi Baath Kacchua, Saal Kacchua Tilakdhari, Dhor Kacchua, Bhootkatha Kacchua, Pahadi Trikutki Kacchua, Sundari Kacchua, Morpankhi Kacchua, Katahwa Litherhwa, Syontar Fighter, Parvati Kacchua, and others. Species like Katahwa, Morpankhi, Saal, and Sundari play an essential role in keeping water bodies clean and ecologically balanced amidst growing pollution concerns. Anuradha Vemuri, principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife), UP, said efforts are also being made to stop their trade.

From stunning decorations to an extravagant feast, everything about it left people amazed. This was the wedding of Brahmani Reddy, daughter of Indian billionaire G. Janardhana Reddy. Her South Indian wedding looked straight out of a dream and captured the attention of the entire country. It was even broadcast live and continues to be remembered for how grand it was. But before we dive into the details of the wedding, let's take a quick look at the man behind it, G. Janardhana Reddy. Known as the 'mining baron,' he made his fortune in the mining business and also founded a finance company called Ennoble India Savings and Investment Company Limited. A wedding worth Rs. 550 crore Brahmani tied the knot with Rajiv Reddy, the son of Hyderabad-based businessman Vikram Deva Reddy. The guest list included high-profile politicians and around 50,000 attendees. G. Janardhana Reddy spent approximately Rs. 550 crores on his daughter's wedding. Celebrities like Tamannaah Bhatia, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Mani, Prabhu Deva, comedian Brahmanandam, and Kannada superstar Yash performed during the celebrations, adding glamour to the already extravagant affair. To accommodate VIP guests, over 2,000 luxury cabs and 15 helicopters were arranged to transport them from hotels to the venue. The wedding was held at the iconic Bengaluru Palace. The entire 36-acre palace grounds were transformed to look like the historic city of Hampi. And if the wedding wasn't lavish enough, the invitation card itself made headlines as it reportedly cost around Rs. 5 crores. What made it unique was an embedded LCD screen that played a special song featuring the Reddy family, giving invitees a glimpse into the celebration that awaited. Brahmini Reddy's wedding dress and jewelery Brahmani Reddy's outfits and jewellery were equally the epitome of luxury and elegance. For her pre-wedding sangeet function, Brahmani wore a stunning gold lehenga designed by the well-known fashion designer Neeta Lulla. The outfit featured beautiful floral patterns inspired by the Vrindavan Gardens and was rich in intricate embroidery. However, it was her wedding outfit that truly left everyone amazed. Brahmani wore a traditional red Kanjeevaram half-saree, crafted with real 22-carat gold threads. The saree was heavily embellished and reportedly cost a jaw-dropping Rs. 17 crores. To complement her royal attire, Brahmani was adorned with diamond jewellery that sparkled from head to toe. Her bridal jewellery included a diamond-studded headpiece connected to a dazzling maang teeka, a large diamond waistband (kamarbandh), armlets (bajubandh), an ornate choker, layered diamond necklaces, matching earrings, and bangles. All together, her diamond jewellery was estimated to be worth around Rs. 90 crores. Anant Ambani's wedding Though the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani, to Radhika Merchant is widely considered the most expensive wedding in India with estimated to cost around USD 600 million, there is no official records to support the claim.
