Stephen Bunting conqueror stuns the world in legendary New York arena now he craves the Mecca of Darts
Qualifier wants to go from one iconic stage in New York to another in London American hero Jason Brandon shattered Stephen Bunting and is chasing down a dream date at the Ally Pally. The 50-year-old produced the biggest performance of his career to batter The Bullet in the US Darts Masters at Madison Square Gardens in front of a joyous New York crowd. Brandon won 6-4 over Bunting with the Tennessee slinger earning redemption for his loss to Rob Cross on the stage two years ago. But, as well as success in the States, he also has eyes on another iconic venue in London and a place alongside the likes of defending champion Luke Littler in this year's expanded Paddy Power World Championship. PDC expansions of the event have opened more doors for the likes of Brandon with five places available to US-based stars for Ally Pally. Brandon also has a shot of making the Lakeside World Championship, but has no hesitation in nominating which English Capital venue he'd like to be heading at Christmas as he said: 'It's bad to say, but I 100 per cent have to pick Ally Pally. It's just that's since I started and I found out about all this stuff, that's been a dream of mine to play. Obviously, Lakeside is awesome and I would love to get back there and have another chance. But if I was to qualify for Ally Pally, I would absolutely have to take that spot. 'We have all kinds of opportunities now and with the additional spots since they've expanded the PDC, those other spots now that's available to get, there's other avenues, not just open for one or two positions. We've got like five spots we can get now. That's awesome. I hope it gets more from there. I hope it expands even further, but we'll see how it goes. 'I'm hoping I don't mess myself up out of any of the spots. I tried to do that a few years ago, tried to play both and try to keep my options open to play CDC and WDF. Hopefully I have a shot at PDC and I messed myself up out of both of them. Right now I'm still in a good spot for Lakeside. I still can make the CDC stuff and we'll see how it goes.' Brandon is thrilled to have the New York opportunity and said: 'I've got to admit, I really wasn't expecting to make it back this year. I only had the one chance left in the qualifier and I played the best starts I played all day. I was fortunate enough to get through the qualifier to make it back up here. 'It's unreal that darts is the way is coming up here now in the US. To be able to play at such an iconic stage, it's amazing. It's great. It's awesome.' He displayed his talents with the Bunting success which has earned a last-eight crack at Damon Heta and said: 'That's my biggest win. I'm struggling to find the words. My goal was to come up here and get a little bit of redemption for two years ago. I don't know how I held it together but I was able to focus. I'm feeling way better about my darts now than I was coming into the event. I'm ready for Saturday.'

Man behind viral video of fight at Ibiza pool 'was protecting friend from bully'
A holidaymaker at the centre of a poolside fight which saw footballer Kian Harratt throwing chairs at brawlers has revealed it all started with 'aggressive splashing'. Viral footage shows a group suddenly launching into a fight, including the Oldham Athletic striker who was seen throwing a chair at a middle-aged woman at the Marco Polo Hotel in San Antonio. He insists he only joined in after his friend was punched by a '6 ft 6 bully', but that man Brandon Watkins has denied these claims. Instead, he said he was 'provoked' by Kian's group who were 'looking for a fight'. Brandon told MailOnline: 'The fight happened on day five of our holiday. We'd been around that pool every day and getting on with everybody and making friends with people. 'These guys turned up and started throwing balls about. Several people were saying they're going to be trouble even before it kicked off. 'At one point one of his mates got in the pool next to me and just started aggressively splashing me. One of them said what are you looking at? 'Next thing I knew Kian picked up a chair and threw it.' Brandon said Kian's group appeared intoxicated, but after the brawl fellow holidaymakers bought them drinks to say thank you for dealing with the group. They also stayed with the woman who had broken her toe in the fight, while Kian and his group were kicked out of the hotel. A close friend of the woman injured in the fight also backed up Brandon's version, saying: 'It was carnage, I've never seen anything like it in my life. My friend was injured. They were all just shouting and swearing at each other. 'She's an absolute angel and such a good person which is why she got involved – she saw people were arguing and she just went over to stop it. 'Kian spoke to her like she was a piece of shit and Brandon stepped in out of respect and said don't speak to a woman like that. Brandon threw the first punch then all Kian's friends got involved.' After the footage soon went viral, Kian apologised saying he 'felt terrible' – but later accused the injured woman of 'going down a bit easy'. The friend has hit back at his response, saying there is 'no remorse whatsoever'. They said: 'Him and his mates were kicked out of the hotel without apologising, he's only sorry because he has been identified. 'My friend is really embarrassed by the whole thing, it was a horrible experience made worse as people who have seen the video have been trolling her online.' In December, Harratt was fined over £1,153 after he was caught poaching in North Yorkshire. Last year, Harratt was also banned for four months and fined £3,200 after admitting breaking the Football Association's betting rules by placing 484 bets on matches. Harratt, who was born in Pontefract, made his professional debut with Huddersfield Town in December 2019. He scored a dramatic extra-time winner for Oldham in the National League play-off final at Wembley earlier this month. Christine Paddock had been sitting in the living room of her home in Rivers, Man., on Wednesday. She went to open the window to let some air in, and that is when she saw it. 'I opened it, and all I saw was a moose standing there,' she said. 'I kind of snuck onto my porch and onto my deck very quietly and tried to get a few pictures as he was walking to the fields.' The young moose sauntered through her yard and into the nearby field before heading off. Moose in Manitoba Christine Paddock spotted this young male moose sauntering through her yard in Rivers, Man., on June 25, 2025. (Submitted: Christine Paddock) Paddock has lived in her home, located northeast of Brandon, for the past 25 years. 'There are moose around. We don't see them very often, though,' she said, noting she usually just sees their tracks. That's what made this chance encounter so exciting. 'It's just an exciting gift when you get to see wildlife unexpectedly like that,' she said. She shared her photos on Facebook, hoping to encourage other nature lovers. Report on Manitoba Telus outage reveals how many 911 calls weren't able to connect
A new report into a Telus network outage in March reveals how many people were unable to get through to 911. Nearly 60 people were unable to get through to 911 during a Telus network outage in March. In a new report to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) from Telus on June 16, the company said an outage started just after 10 p.m. on March 22 and lasted until March 24 after 1 p.m. Telus said the outage involved facilities that connect Telus to Bell's 911 network, which directs calls to Brandon's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Telus said a technician was sent out shortly after the outage started to investigate what happened. 'The Telus technician who attended to the outage did not follow the accepted protocols between Bell and Telus to alert about an outage affecting 911 circuits and did not follow Telus' standard practices by failing to escalate the issue with the company,' the report reads. Telus said the technician who responded has been disciplined. Telus' 911 team learned about the outage on March 24 around noon and worked with Bell to fix the issue, the report said. During that nearly 40-hour period, Telus said 59 people tried to call 911 around 177 times but were unable to get through. Dean Switzer's family and friends tried to call 911 around 18 times on March 23 when he suffered a heart attack. A family friend who is an RCMP officer was eventually able to get an ambulance to the house, but the 55-year-old died later that night. Telus said equipment failure was the reason for the outage, but the company doesn't know why the equipment failed. 'The failure on the Bell facilities lasted approximately four minutes. However, this failure has the effect of causing failure of the eight Bell network circuits leased by Telus, which comprise both primary and redundant connections and whose function is to deliver 911 traffic from Telus' wireless network to Bell's 911 network destined for the Brandon PSAP.' Following the outage, Telus said it has reviewed what happened and has now put in an alternate route to ensure 911 calls can still connect in the case of another network failure. If this option also fails, Telus said calls will be rerouted to its operator service team. 'This new call routing will provide an added layer of reliability and resiliency to the enhanced 911 call environment. Telus confirms that with these backup processes in place, 911 calls will continue to complete even with an equipment outage of this kind.'
