Liverpool line up £70m COLOSSUS to replace Ibrahima Konate
Liverpool looking at Guehi and Branthwaite The imminent loss of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen in a £30m deal already leaves the club light on numbers - necessitating a new signing sooner rather than later. Advertisement While Marc Guehi has been the player most strongly linked, there is another defender closer to home who fits the bill. The Reds reportedly have their eye on centre-backs aged 24 or under - and given they are losing Quansah - one with homegrown status would help. That's why Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite is so intriguing. Moving from the Bramley Moore Dock Stadium to Anfield wouldn't be without its controversy - but surely a sizeable bid from the Reds would tempt their city neighbours into selling. Everton plot Branthwaite talks A new report in Caught Offside now claims that Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham AND Liverpool have all got their eye on Branthwaite - who is valued at around the £70m mark. Advertisement As such, the Toffees are planning contract talks with their star defender - who is currently tied to the club until 2027. But should no new deal be agreed for the 23-year-old, then Liverpool would be in a good position to pounce. 'No concrete talks have taken place,' the report continues. 'But the admiration for Branthwaite is there, so it could be one to watch.' © IMAGO Could Liverpool use Doak to sign Branthwaite? David Moyes' side are reported to admire Ben Doak and by adding the Scotland winger to any potential deal, Liverpool could significantly reduce the upfront costs. With Quansah being sold, Konate seemingly heading out the door and Van Dijk contracted until 2027 - Liverpool will soon need to conduct a serious transfer overhaul at centre-back. Maybe Guehi and fellow England international Branthwaite will be the ones leading the club into the new era.

Three Premier League clubs set for major blow with transfer target poised to sign bumper five-year deal
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is poised to sign a new five-year contract with the club. In a statement of intent for David Moyes 's second tenure at the club, Everton have moved to secure the England international to a new deal at the manager's behest. Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea had all shown varying levels of interest in Branthwaite, who turned 23 on Friday, but Everton have been insistent he was not for sale this window as Moyes looks to build on his strong finish to last season. Moyes wants to bring in around six new faces so wants to maintain a degree of continuity in a defence that has been the bedrock of recent Premier League survival battles. Moyes also has captain James Tarkowski recovering from hamstring surgery so Branthwaite's presence and commitment to a contract with much improved terms holds greater significance. Jake O'Brien has filled in in Tarkowski's absence, but Moyes would still like cover in that position as he also strives to bring in Fulham's Kenny Tete as a free agent at right back. Fulham have made a counter offer to keep the Dutchman yet Moyes hopes he will be persuaded by the prospect of being part of a new dawn at Everton as they move to their new stadium on the Mersey waterfront. Branthwaite remains ambitious to play Champions League football with England Thomas Tuchel impressing upon him the importance of making a step up in World Cup year. He now hopes what promises to be a reshaped Everton can start challenging at the top end of the Premier League table.

Jarrad Branthwaite set to sign new five-year deal at Everton
Jarrad Branthwaite is set to sign a new five-year contract after Everton successfully warded off interest in the centre back. Branthwaite had two years remaining on his existing deal, with Everton holding an option to extend for a further 12 months, but the 23-year-old will be rewarded for his progress in recent seasons with a longer deal and pay rise. Manchester United had two bids rejected for the defender 12 months ago and Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have been monitoring a player who was capped by England prior to Euro 2024. Persuading Branthwaite to put pen to paper on a new deal has been a difficult process which began under former director of football Kevin Thelwell and has been taken on by new chief executive, Angus Kinnear, and the head of player trading, Nick Hammond. Kinnear had made clear that the Everton owner, The Friedkin Group, would not countenance the sale of the player in the transfer window as the club move into their new Hill Dickinson Stadium and plot a course for stability after the turbulence of previous owner Farhad Moshiri's reign. It comes with club captain Seamus Coleman, 36, agreeing a new one-year deal to extend his association with Everton to a 17th season. The Ireland right back was hampered by injury last season, making only six appearances, but his presence at the club in upholding standards continues to be viewed as vital by the manager, David Moyes. 'This could be a period of real change at the club and I want somebody who can help deliver the messages of what it means to be an Everton footballer,' Moyes said. 'He's had to deal with some really difficult injuries, too, but he has done that and still been able to help inspire inside the dressing room at the same time.' Kenny Tete, who is out of contract with Fulham at the end of the month, has been offered a deal by Everton. Everton have offered Idrissa Gueye, 35, a new contract and there is optimism that will be resolved also. Left-footed Branthwaite started and ended last season with injuries which affected his hopes of progressing with the senior England set-up. Thomas Tuchel preferred players such as Dan Burn and Trevoh Chalobah. Branthwaite would have gone to the European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia this month, but a hamstring injury ended his campaign prematurely. He is expected to be fit for when Everton return to pre-season training, with the focus now on further reinforcements. Everton have been in talks with Villarreal over Thierno Barry and those are likely to accelerate after the striker's participation with France at the European U21 Championship has ended. Barry has a £34.2million release clause, but Everton hope to negotiate that down.

£70m England star makes transfer decision amid Chelsea and Man Utd interest
Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite has responded to the transfer interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham. Following a breakthrough season in 2023/24, Branthwaite has been a target for several top Premier League sides. United attempted to sign the centre-back last summer but saw two bids, the latter worth £50million, rejected as Everton held firm to their £70m valuation. The Red Devils have kept tabs on the 23-year-old, while Spurs and Chelsea entered the transfer race in the last few months after Branthwaite's strong end to the season under David Moyes. It was recently reported that the one-cap England international would only consider leaving Merseyside for a Champions League club, handing the advantage to the London sides. Any deal would be expensive as he still has two years left on his current contract, with the option for a further year. Branthwaite has also been considering a move after being snubbed by Thomas Tuchel in his first two England squads, as a transfer could boost his chances of playing at the 2026 World Cup. However, Sky Sports now claim that Branthwaite is now committing to Everton for the upcoming season and is close to finalising a new contract with the Toffees. More Trending News 22 hours ago By Chris Davie It is said that while the interest from rival clubs was 'serious', the defender could put pen to paper as early as next week with just 'some final elements to be agreed'. While a blow for Chelsea, their interest may well have cooled after they recently signed centre-back Mamadou Sarr from affiliate club Strasbourg, with Enzo Maresca now focusing on improving his attack. The Blues are desperate for a left-winger and have already agreed personal terms with Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens. United meanwhile have also prioritised attacking transfers, signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves and they appear to be closing in on Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford too. Everton respond as Liverpool include Jarrad Branthwaite on two-man wishlist
Liverpool are the latest club to be credited with an interest in Jarrad Branthwaite but Everton have made a move to try and lock the England defender down with a new deal Everton have opened talks with Jarrad Branthwaite over a potential contract extension amid fresh transfer interest in the defender, whose suitors now include Liverpool. Branthwaite, 22, has established himself as one of the Premier League 's top young defenders and was the subject of a £50million bid from Manchester United last summer. And after another stellar season for the Toffees, Branthwaite is once again attracting interest. It emerged earlier this week that Tottenham have set their sights on the former Carlisle United man as they seek to refresh their squad under Thomas Frank. And they are not alone in courting Branthwaite with Liverpool - Everton's bitter rivals - also among the talented defender's suitors. Everton, though, have no interest in cashing in on Branthwaite this summer and have already started to speak with the player's representatives in a bid to lock him down with a new contract. The Echo report that retaining Branthwaite's services for the 25-26 campaign is a priority for Everton, who finished last season with a flourish following the return of David Moyes. The Scot is determined to 'build his defence' around Branthwaite, who still has two years left to run on his current deal. But interest from elsewhere in the Premier League could complicate matters for Everton. While Liverpool are admirers of Branthwaite, it seems they are poised to step up their interest Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace defender who was also courted heavily by top clubs last summer. Join the debate! Where do you think Branthwaite will be playing next season? Let us know here The 24-year-old England star was the subject of two failed transfer bids from Newcastle 12 months ago but is now in the final year of his deal, meaning Palace's bargaining power is not as strong as it once was. Guehi has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Jarell Quansah, who is in talks over a move to Bayer Leverkusen. A deal - which would be separate to the agreement which will see Florian Wirtz become a Liverpool player this weekend - could happen with the Bundesliga outfit ready to pay around £34m. The Reds are also closing in on a deal for Milos Kerkez, who would join from Bournemouth, while they are also said to be on the lookout for a new striker with Darwin Nunez expected to move on in the transfer window.
