2025 Jacksonville Jaguars' roster preview: WR Chandler Brayboy

With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Jacksonville Jaguars' 91-man roster. Going alphabetically, up is UDFA wide receiver Chandler Brayboy. Chandler Brayboy's profile Height: 6-1 Weight: 199 Age: 23 NFL experience: Rookie College: Elon No. 15 2024 Snap Count totals in college Offense: 563 Special teams: 49 2024 PFF grades Offense: 75.7 Special teams: 62.5 2024 Season Review This past season was a career year for Brayboy, who had 90 targets, totaled 979 yards, and scored eight touchdowns. Among eligible wideouts at the FCS level, Brayboy was one of the best at picking up YAC, ranking 12th in that category, averaging 7.4 yards after the catch, per PFF. Advertisement Brayboy played six seasons at Elon and was a regular contributor on offense over the last four. He has experience lining up both outside and in the slot. Along with his contributions on offense, Brayboy was a kick returner as well. This included averaging almost 36 yards per return this past year with two touchdowns. Looking ahead to the 2025 season We know at the receiver position for the Jaguars that the first four roster spots are accounted for between Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington. Depending on whether the Jaguars roster five or six receivers, that leaves one to two spots up for grabs. Advertisement With this being a fairly inexperienced position group beyond the top four on the depth chart, that creates opportunities for undrafted rookies, like Brayboy, to make a mark. In doing that, special teams contributions will be a key part of that equation since that is likely where the bulk of the playing time will come from for the fifth and sixth wideouts on the depth chart. With that said, given what we know right now, the practice squad is the likely ceiling for Brayboy in Year 1. For starters, he's making the jump from the FCS level to the NFL, and landing on the 53-man roster includes surpassing an experienced player like Trenton Irwin, along with Josh Cephus, who is a returning player and has caught some attention during offseason programs. Jacksonville Jaguars' 2025 UDFA profile: Elon WR Chandler Brayboy

In addition to their nine draft picks, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed 22 undrafted rookies as well, following the 2025 NFL draft. Just as we did with each of the nine selections, let's take a closer look at each of the Jaguars' UDFAs. Up next is wide receiver Chandler Brayboy from Elon. Chandler Brayboy profile Height: 6-002 Weight: 205 40 time: 4.47 College profile What to know about the Jaguars' UDFA signing Brayboy spent six seasons at Elon, and over the last four, he's been a big part of the passing game. He finished his career catching 62% of his 262 targets and averaged an impressive 16.3 yards per catch with 19 touchdowns. Advertisement Throughout his career, Brayboy has ample experience playing both out wide and in the slot. This includes spending most of his snaps outside in 2021 and 2022 before primarily lining up in the slot the last two seasons. The 2024 season specifically was a career year for Brayboy, who had 90 targets, totaled 979 yards, and scored eight touchdowns. Among eligible wideouts at the FCS level, Brayboy was one of the best at picking up YAC, ranking 12th in that category, averaging 7.4 yards after the catch, per PFF. Along with his contributions on offense, Brayboy was a kick returner as well. This included averaging almost 36 yards per return this past year with two touchdowns. Chandler Brayboy's scouting report Lance Zierlein: "Brayboy's athletic traits warrant a peek at the tape. He has good top-end speed and really impresses with his ability to separate from coverage. However, his ball skills fall well below NFL standards with spotty ball-tracking and inconsistent hands. He's fearless and fast in a straight line, though. His potential as a kick returner will need to be his entry point toward getting a chance in the NFL." Dolphins bring in FCS star with eye-popping numbers. And more on Jalen Ramsey fallout

The Dolphins, who have been flying in a bunch of prospects for last-minute predraft visits, hosted one of the nation's best under-the-radar FCS receivers this week. Elon receiver Chandler Brayboy visited team headquarters, according to a source. Brayboy, 6-0, is a multipurpose weapon who had 979 receiving yards last season (on 59 receptions with eight touchdowns), 121 rushing yards (on just eight carries) and two kickoff returns for a touchdown. The 6-1 Brayboy, who grew up in Pembroke, North Carolina, clocked a 4.47 in the 40 yard dash. Brayboy, who was named a second-team FCS All American in December, averaged 35.3 yards on his 16 kickoff returns, which was second in FCS. He finished sixth in FCS in all-purpose yards (151.4 per game), No. 13 in receiving yards per game (89.0) and No. 30 in receiving touchdowns (eight). Teams can bring in 30 non-local players for predraft visits, and Brayboy counts as one of them. Here are some of Miami's other 30 visits. Ramsey financial fallout Among the unfortunate upshots of a likely trade involving Jalen Ramsey, who is looking to be dealt: Miami will take a significant cap hit if he's traded before June 1. Ramsey's hit on Miami's 2025 books will jump from $16.6 million to $25.2 million if he's traded for a draft pick or picks in this month's draft. If he's traded after June 1 for a player or a 2026 draft pick, his Dolphins 2025 Dolphins dead money cap hit would drop to $6.7 million. If the Dolphins trade him before June 1, Miami would have only $7 million in space, barely enough to sign a draft class and practice squad. And this is staggering: If the Dolphins trade Ramsey, 16.6% of their 2025 cap would be allocated toward dead money hits for cornerbacks no longer on the team. Beyond the potential $25.2 million dead money hit on Ramsey, the Dolphins also have a $15.7 million dead money hit on Xavien Howard in 2025 and a $5.4 million hit on Kendall Fuller. The Dolphins have another $9 million in 2025 dead money cap hits on four others who are no longer on the team — Raheem Mostert, Durham Smythe, Shaquil Barrett and Odell Beckham, per

Did Pompano man shoot girlfriend and try to hide her body in a canal? Jury is deciding

Jury deliberations got underway Tuesday afternoon in the case of a Pompano Beach man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the face and trying to dispose of her body by dumping her car into a canal. Ja'Kolbi Jacsaint, 20, faces a possible sentence of life in prison if he is found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jazzmine Brayboy, 22, whose body was found in her partially submerged 2014 Chevrolet in a canal near Northwest 10th Avenue and Northwest Eighth Street on Feb. 16, 2022. Neither prosecutor Taylor Collins nor defense attorney Patrick Curry mentioned the fate of the 5-month-old girl who was rescued from Brayboy's vehicle by a good Samaritan who also tried to rescue Brayboy. The baby, now 3, survived and was not a factor in the trial, which focused on whether Jacsaint was the shooter. Collins told jurors that the evidence presented at the trial, which started last Wednesday, was conclusive and pointed to Jacsaint as the killer. Jacsaint, she said, was with the victim earlier in the evening, his DNA was on part of the weapon believed to have been used in the crime, and lied about his whereabouts when police initially questioned him. Curry said the evidence against his client failed to establish his guilt. Prosecutors could not establish that he was the one holding the gun when it was fired, nor could they establish that he was with the victim when she died. But Collins responded that Jacsaint disposed of pieces of the gun and that he put his cellphone into airplane mode to conceal his location while he was with Brayboy. That, Collins said, was evidence of premeditation. A first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence when the perpetrator is an adult, but Jacsaint was 17 at the time, so Broward Circuit Judge Frank Ledee would have the option of a lesser sentence if the jury finds Jacsaint guilty. Jurors began deliberating at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Rafael Olmeda can be reached at rolmeda@ or 954-356-4457. Follow him on This is a developing story, so check back for updates.
