Beyonce teases surprise move away from country music for next album – with name a nod to ‘flamboyant' music legend

SHE dabbled in dance with chart-topping record Renaissance, then country with Cowboy Carter, and now it seems Beyonce is about to become a fully-fledged rock star. The Texas Hold 'Em singer has been dropping hints that her next album will be called Betty Black — and she is already teasing a corresponding tour before her current one has even finished. 9 Beyonce had a nod to American singer and model Betty Davis ahead of the release of her new album Credit: Instagram/@beyonce 9 Beyonce is planning to release her new album next year and has another tour in the works Credit: Redferns Her 32-date Cowboy Carter trek finishes a week today in Las Vegas, but the website now redirects to her own beyonce .com site. It is believed that the title is a bid to reclaim the 1977 song Black Betty by Ram Jam, which has its roots in African-American music and has become controversial in recent years due to its connection with a whip used on enslaved people in prisons. It is likely to also be a nod to late American singer and model Betty Davis, who was publicly scorned for her sexually liberating lyrics and funk-rock sound, which led to her being boycotted by radio and TV stations. Betty has been described as 'wildly flamboyant', with the 'gritty emotional realism of Tina Turner, the futurist fashion sense of David Bowie and the trend–setting flair of Miles Davis,' the latter of whom she was briefly married to. On a remix of her Renaissance song Break My Soul, Beyonce sang 'Betty Davis, we love you', and on her Cowboy Carter track Bodyguard, she sang 'Davis in my bones'. Bey went on to dress up as her for Halloween last year and, in a video for her GQ cover story to promote her whisky brand SirDavis, the Betty Davis song They Say I'm Different was used. In another teaser about the Betty Black title, during her Cowboy Carter tour show, a newspaper appears on a screen behind her which has the headline: 'Betty Black tour sold out.' Most read in Bizarre And fans reckon they have worked out that her next album will be released on May 29, 2026, given she has picked Friday the 29th to release her last two records, and that is the next time the 29th falls on a Friday. Blue Ivy looks IDENTICAL to mom Beyonce as she arrives in Paris with dad Jay-Z The project will wrap up a trilogy of albums, which she announced when Renaissance came out in 2022. In a message on her website at the time, she said: 'This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. 'Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognised for far too long. This is a celebration for you.' Bey has been vocal about her love for rock'n'rollers like Betty and Tina Turner — who has inspired several outfits on her latest tour. So I'm excited to see what she's cooked up, even if we do have a ten-month wait on our hands. It Girl Sabrina 9 Sabrina Carpenter flew to Tuscany where she treated her pals to a luxury getaway Credit: Supplied SABRINA CARPENTER celebrated the biggest shows of her career by jetting off to a £6,500-a-night villa in Italy to unwind. She has had a stratospheric 18 months with a world tour and hit album Short n' Sweet, which spent a whopping 46 weeks in the Top Five. On top of that, she has somehow found the time to record an entirely new album, Man's Best Friend, which will be released on August 29. On Hits Radio Breakfast yesterday, the American musician, below, explained: 'When we first wrote it, I actually hated it. 'I hated it when it was just us on a guitar, like, we didn't really do anything to it. 'We were still writing it and I was like, 'It just doesn't sound like a record I'd put out.' 'And then I sang it and I was like, 'OK, let's see where this goes.' "And we started putting stuff into the file and it sounded insane when we started adding the choir and everyone on top of it, and I was like, 'Holy shoot. This is amazing.'' 'She had the bar staff make cocktails from her Papa Salt gin and had them served to everyone who wanted one. 'It was a lovely gesture and she was in great spirits – very relaxed and friendly.' That's a sure-fire way to win people over. And an easy way to plug her booze brand. Beyoncé Debuts a Golden Horse Prop on ‘Cowboy Carter' Tour

As Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour continues hitting stadiums across the U.S. this summer, the 35-time Grammy winner is still surprising fans with newness. During her first of four sold-out shows in Atlanta on July 10, Bey performed her western-inspired ballad, '16 Carriages,' on a golden mechanical horse that floated over the crowd so she could get up close and personal with fans. Once members of the BeyHive caught clips of her performance on social media, they pointed out that it was a new addition to her instantly iconic stadium tour. 'The horse was chewing on the car wires bc it wanted to be let out!!! I get it!' one fan jokingly wrote, while another added, 'One thing this lady will never do is stay out the damn sky.' Others even likened the metallic horse to the one featured on the singer's Renaissance album cover, who is jokingly referred to as 'Reneigh' across the fan base. 'IS THIS RENEIGH? WHAT IS HER NAME, Y'ALL!?' someone commented under Beyoncé's Instagram post. In case you somehow missed Bey's concert videos on your social feeds, the show originally featured a floating vintage car during the segment. The 'Break My Soul' hitmaker swapped the original prop for a mechanical horse after the vehicle had tipped over during her hometown show in Houston on June 29. She instructed the stadium's technicians to cut the music as she repeatedly said 'Stop' during the performance. According to fan-captured footage, she was then safely lowered from the air after the frightening mishap. Her team issued a statement on the matter the same night, writing, 'Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered, and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.' Because of the accident, Beyoncé cut '16 Carriages' from the setlist during her shows in Washington, D.C. Her performance in Atlanta marks the first time the track was performed since #CowboyCarGate in Houston. Hopefully, her horse safely glides her across future stadiums without fault.

Ranking all the best bits you missed from Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter London tour dates

Beyoncé is in town, people! Queen Bey is currently halfway through her London leg of the Cowboy Carter Tour, and those who managed to secure tickets have witnessed music royalty in real-time. For those who didn't - or won't - be making it to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we've resorted to catching the best bits through our phone screens. So, as Beyoncé takes it easy for a couple of days before taking back to the stage on 10th June, we thought now might be the perfect time to look back on the epic performances so far. Because honestly, there have been some pretty iconic moments. For all the Beyoncé sleuths out there, you'll likely have checked out the setlist way ahead of time. Of course, the tour is in support of her Grammy-winning album, Cowboy Carter, meaning the show revolves mostly around this era. However, that doesn't mean that plenty of her other hit songs are out of the question. Despite this, many were gutted when her 2022 Renaissance hit 'Break My Soul' was nowhere to be seen on lists... Until now. Thankfully, on 7th June, she performed it as a surprise song. And as you can hear from the crowd's screams, it was the correct artistic decision to make. During the opening London show, Beyoncé also performed her Renaissance track, 'Energy.' With that, she prompted fans to reenact the Renaissance World Tour staple, the "mute challenge." To recap, this is where fans go silent when she sings the lyrics "look around everybody on mute." In 2022, it made its way onto social media and became a viral TikTok sensation. "We got Donatella Versace in the house," Beyoncé told the crowd towards the end of the show on night two. Which is perhaps the reason fans were treated to some new looks. Continuing with her cowboy couture theme, she donned cowboy hats, boots and plenty of fringe. During 'Alliigator Tears,' she served a fresh fit consisting of a white top, white skirt, thigh-high boots and fringe gloves. Later, she donned a Versace ensemble complete with a ruffled dress with matching boots and gloves. It's the UK. Rain doesn't spare anyone, even Sasha Fierce. On night one, the heavens opened, but rather than fuming at the weather, fans seemed to embrace it. Many even called it iconic. One person said that the downpour during 'Bodyguard' was a vibe, while others said that the rain made Honey Balenciaga's section of the show "all the more iconic." It didn't seem to bother Queen Bey, either, as she told the crowd: "We won't let the rain stop us." Unfortunately, even during a Beyoncé show, things can't always be guaranteed to go 100% smoothly. It's how you deal with unprecedented mishaps that separates amateurs from pros. On the first night, while performing 'I'm That Girl,' Bey encountered a wardrobe malfunction during a choreographed moment. Her gold chaps literally fell down around her ankles, but rather than freaking out, she continued. Her expression didn't change, nor did she try and fix the problem. Rather, one of her dancers subtly slipped them back up, fastened them, and carried on with the performance. It wasn't until after the chaps were firmly back up that Beyoncé hilariously acknowledged the slick moment: she just laughed as if to say, "s**t happens." And finally, how could we leave out the sweetest moment of all? Beyoncé literally hyped up her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, who has been a major part of the Cowboy Carter Tour, as she left the stage. Just look at how proud she is of her! Mother-daughter goals right there. There's a reason she's called Queen Bey.

Beyoncé brings back another 'Renaissance' favorite, debuts new looks for Night 2 in London

Beyoncé brings back another 'Renaissance' favorite, debuts new looks for Night 2 in London Beyoncé Knowles-Carter's "Cowboy Carter" tour landed in London for a second night, and the concert proved to be another high-octane spectacle with fashion at the forefront and an especially lively crowd. The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her June 7 show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium around 7:46 p.m. local time. The show marked her second of six shows at the stadium on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. She is set to hit the stage again June 10, 12, 14 and 16, before heading to Paris for three nights. "We're' gonna have us a good time. Are y'all ready?" Beyoncé said as she opened the show. Shortly after, she told fans, "I can tell this is going to be a show tonight." And it certainly was an electrifying, high-energy night from start to finish. During the "Ya Ya" and "Why Don't You Love Me" mash-up performance, Beyoncé even took a moment to take in the energy from the roaring crowd. During the number she paused as fans loudly sang her ad-libs. This moment was indicative of the rest of the night as Beyoncé debuted new songs and many new fashion looks. Beyoncé adds 'Break My Soul,' brings back 'Mute challenge' During Beyoncé's London opener June 5, fans were surprised when she performed her 2022 hit song "Energy." Of course, that also meant Beyoncé prompted fans to do the Renaissance World Tour hallmark: the "mute challenge." Well, the energy continued during her second London concert when she performed the song again and the entire stadium went silent for the challenge. A new addition awaited, however, as she brought back another Renaissance song and fan favorite — her hit 2022 single "Break My Soul." One fan wrote, "London won again! We got Break My Soul!" Beyoncé serves looks, looks and more looks on London stage Of course, Beyoncé's tour has been a huge showcase of fashion and creativity. Each night, Beyoncé continues to blend high fashion and cowboy couture, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as they anticipate a new look. Saturday night's show was a huge fashion moment with Beyoncé serving several new looks. She continued to bring Western-glam to the stage with more sparkly chaps, cowboy hats, boots and fringe. During her "Alliigator Tears" performance, Beyoncé showed off a new look featuring fringe gloves, a white top, a white skirt and thigh-high boots. The looks kept coming throughout the show, and fans were left talking about her head-turning outfits, including her Versace look. At first, the Versace ensemble appeared to be a ruffled dress with matching gloves and boots. However, as Beyoncé continued to perform, the look morphed into the same top with black shorts. And Donatella Versace was there to witness it all. During the show, she sang Beyoncé's praises as she rocked her custom looks. Toward the end of the show Beyoncé have her a shout-out. "We got Donatella Versace in the house," Beyoncé exclaimed as she wrapped the night. As fans know, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26.
