Bay Area native Breannah Yeh's leap from tech analyst to slackline star

Breannah Yeh is not your typical content creator. Her videos show her dangling above a canyon hundreds of feet in the air or balancing on a slackline stretched over San Francisco Bay waters. The big picture: This is "Made in the Bay," a series spotlighting content creators with ties to the Bay Area. Zoom in: Yeh, a professional slackliner, was born in Oakland and moved to San Ramon with her family when she was 11. She discovered slacklining two years later while at an El Cerrito rock climbing gym. It differs from tightrope walking in that it involves a flat piece of webbing instead of rigid wire. After starting her career as a growth analyst at a mobile gaming company, Yeh pivoted when her slacklining videos took off and now has millions of followers across TikTok and YouTube. The following answers have been lightly edited. What was the moment you realized your content was starting to blow up? When I started posting videos of me slacklining on the beach in Santa Monica. How did you decide to start focusing on content full time? During COVID I had a slackline video that went viral ... and that next week, I quit my job to pursue content full time! Was terrified, but had to take a chance on myself. What's one part of content creation that you love but people might not realize takes a lot of effort? I get really sucked into the editing process. I'm extremely particular about each clip I choose, because I want people to feel how I feel when I'm telling my stories! How has living in the Bay Area impacted you/your work? I grew up in the Bay and my first slacklining videos I've ever recorded were there at 13! ... Even though I travel quite a bit, I like coming back to the Bay to my roots and creating content there. If you took someone on a one-day tour, where would you go? I would take them to the Oakland Redwood Trees and show them Kirby Cove in San Francisco and then finish it off with sunset in Pacifica!
