Orlando or Gainesville? Decision on where the Jaguars will play in 2027 won't come until October
The decision on where the Jacksonville Jaguars will play for the 2027 season will now be made in October, the team said. The team will play in either Orlando or Gainesville for one season while construction on the Stadium of the Future is finished up at EverBank Stadium. The Jaguars released a statement to Action News Jax on Thursday saying the proposals are 'still under review.' Advertisement Orange County Commissioners voted Tuesday, April 22, to give $11 million to bring Jaguars' home games in Orlando in 2027. Jaguars President Mark Lamping appeared on the Brent & Austen Show on the Action Sports Jax 24/7 network on the day of the NFL Draft, Thursday, April 24. Lamping said that it's important to the team to have a partnership with whoever owns the stadium where the Jags will play that season. He said that partnership already exists with the University of Florida. He said that Orlando leaders making the decision to commit the funding was the last step in being able to consider Orlando's proposal fully, removing any contingencies. He said then that if the team couldn't make it in time for the May NFL owners' meetings, then it would be ready for the October meetings. Having the decision made at the October meeting, Lamping said, 'would be a little serendipity. It was at that same meeting a year ago that the NFL owners approved the stadium.' UNF's first football game: Jacksonville Sharks become Ospreys for a night
The Jacksonville Sharks are becoming the UNF Ospreys for a night. The Indoor Football League team will share the Ospreys moniker on Saturday night as they host Massachusetts, and it will be celebrated as UNF's first football game ever. The University of North Florida doesn't have a football team, so the school and the Sharks partnered up for this promotion. Action Sports Jax is at the first day of The Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Gary Player commemorated another Masters Tournament with an honorary tee shot at 7:25 a.m. on Thursday, and with that, 2025's first major championship in golf was underway. The playing conditions for the opening round are as spectacular as the Augusta National Golf Club grounds. The 95-player event will feature 21 first-timers and five amateur golfers, but the headliners are the story. Rory McIlroy is trying again to complete the career grand slam. He could join an exclusive list of just five golfers ever to do it. Gene Sarazen is the only player to complete the grand slam at the Masters, and he did that 90 years ago. Advertisement Scottie Scheffler is the world No. 1 and has won two of the last three Masters. Billy Horschel is a Jacksonville resident and is coming off two top ten finishes last year in the majors. Jacksonville Sharks and Action Sports Jax 24/7 Network unveil 2025 partnership
The Jacksonville Sharks and Cox Media Group are excited to announce the first-ever local official streaming network partnership to kickoff the 15th season of Sharks football in Jacksonville. The partnership will feature all home games airing live on the Action Sports Jax 24/7 Network and the weekly airing of Shark Bites on the network. Shark Bites is the Sharks' weekly coaches show originating from Island Wing and it will be seen on the Action Sports Jax 24/7 Network platforms on Fridays and Saturdays for football fans. The first home game airing on Jacksonville's only 24/7 sports network will be on April 6 when the Sharks host the Vegas Knight Hawks at 6:05 pm.
