Cocoa police arrest 13-time convicted felon after fentanyl found during traffic stop
Cocoa police arrested a 13-time convicted felon with more than 20 grams of fentanyl hidden under a child's car seat after a weekend traffic stop.
Corwin 'Sky' Mitchell, 29, who is currently awaiting trial on armed robbery and grand theft of a motor vehicle charges, was in a vehicle that was pulled over just after 1 p.m. July 6 near Prospect Avenue and Avon Place.
Officers, who saw Mitchell making "furtive" movements in the back seat of the car and detected the smell of marijuana, requested a K-9 for a "free air" sniff of the area, according to an arrest report.
Police said when the K-9 alerted the officers of possible narcotics in the vehicle, the fentanyl was found underneath the child's car seat.
