WATCH: Giants' Abdul Carter in action at 2025 training camp
New York Giants football is back. Officially. Big Blue opened their 2025 training camp on Wednesday, and we're already getting our first glimpse at rookie first-round pick Abdul Carter in action. Check it out: The Giants selected Carter with the third overall pick, and he's expected to emerge as the team's best pass rusher on a defense that already includes Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence. Carter and fellow first-round pick, Jaxson Dart, will be the primary focus of New York Giants fans who attend training camp practices. And while it may take some time before Dart cracks the starting lineup, it'll be all gas and no brakes for Carter from Week 1. MORE NEW YORK GIANTS COVERAGE

Experts reveal New York Giants' biggest strength for 2025 NFL season
The New York Giants should be a fun team to watch in 2025. Russell Wilson is in at quarterback, and even if he fails, the always entertaining Jameis Winston, and the hope that comes along with first-round rookie Jaxson Dart are behind him on the depth chart. That's fun. Wide receiver Malik Nabers is on the launching pad to NFL superstardom. Whenever an offense has a superstar pass-catcher? Yeah, fun. But the most exciting position group on this roster is on the defensive side of the ball. Specifically, the defensive front. According to ESPN's latest ranking of every NFL team's roster ahead of the 2025 season, Big Blue's pass rushers were tabbed as the team's biggest strength. "The Giants still have many major roster concerns, but they might have the league's best defensive front," ESPN's Mike Clay wrote. "It starts at edge rusher with arguably the league's most intimidating trio. Brian Burns is seventh in the NFL with 54.5 sacks since entering the league in 2019, Kayvon Thibodeaux ranks 21st with 17.0 over the past two seasons, and, as if that's not enough, New York spent the third pick of April's draft on Abdul Carter. The Giants' D-line also features one of the league's top defensive tackles in Dexter Lawrence II (second-team All-Pro in 2022 and 2023)." Carter is the must-see player on the New York Giants' defense in 2025, and that's saying a lot. The Giants already boast a fearsome pass-rush duo in Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, but neither has the natural ability that Carter possesses. At their best, Carter, Burns, and Thibodeaux all have game-wrecking upside. And when you add defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the mix? Yeah, the Giants' defense will keep them in a lot more games than industry experts are predicting right now. MORE NEW YORK GIANTS COVERAGE

9 New York Giants most likely to be involved in a training camp fight
The New York Giants will officially report for training camp on Tuesday, with their first full practice scheduled to get underway on Wednesday. From there, it's full steam ahead to cutdown down and the 2025 regular season. In addition to their usual camp practices, the Giants will also hold two joint sessions with the New York Jets in mid-August ahead of their preseason clash. One practice will be held in East Rutherford and the other in Florham Park. For the Giants, these will be the dog days of summer. And per usual, you can expect tempers to flare. Training camp is often the home to some fights, especially during joint practices, and 2025 promises to be no different. Here's a look at nine Giants players likely to be involved in a training camp fight (in no particular order). Dexter Lawrence Dexter Lawrence is a menace in the middle of the defense, and if he's taking a full slate of reps at camp, it's only a matter of time before his physical dominance and relentless trash talk get under someone's skin. Throw in 90-100 degree temperatures, and it's the perfect mixture for an altercation. The only remaining question is, who would dare want to throw down with Sexy Dexy? Cam Skattebo Assuming Cam Skattebo makes his return to the field as a full participant in camp, there's little doubt that the rookie's physical running style will rub some the wrong way. He also isn't one to shy away from an altercation, especially considering he has a chip on his shoulder and a desire to prove he belongs. James Hudson If we were to provide some betting odds, James Hudson would likely be among the favorites (even in this nine-player group) to engage in a training camp fight. Hudson already got into it with linebacker Brian Burns, who we'll discuss in a moment, during organized team activities (OTAs), and then back in 2023 with the Cleveland Browns, he threw hands with defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo. Kayvon Thibodeaux Speaking of that fight at OTAs, Kayvon Thibodeaux was front and center. He exchanged blows with offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor, who had his helmet ripped off, and is no stranger to trash talk. Thibs and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant engaged in a prolonged war of words this offseason, and when you throw in soaring temperatures, you can bet things will get tense. Brian Burns And now we circle back around to Brian Burns, who ran in from the sidelines to tackle Hudson in the aforementioned fight during OTAs. He was also on the field during several heated moments in 2024 when the Giants and Detroit Lions held joint practices -- ones that involved then-Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Greg Van Roten Offensive linemen are often center stage when fights break out, and on some levels, Greg Van Roten is no different. His physicality frustrated several Lions during their joint practices a year ago, and it was the cheap shot he took that really set things off. The veteran guard may not be out there looking to cause chaos, but he's not going to dial things back, either. Van Roten is a potential catalyst. Malik Nabers It's highly unlikely that Malik Nabers will get into it with one of his own teammates, especially given his importance to the offense. However, when the Giants and New York Jets meet for joint practices, all bets are off. Nabers engaged with Lions cornerback Kerby Joseph last season, setting off a string of massive brawls that resulted in both organizations enduring heavy fines. Theo Johnson/Abdul Carter This is strictly an in-house situation that encompasses two players, filling one spot. Theo Johnson and Abdul Carter are intense athletes who have a history dating back to their days at Penn State. Although the pair has a mutual respect for one another, both admit there is some "unfinished business" that needs to be settled. Nothing will start maliciously, but there is at least some small chance things escelate between these two. Jermaine Eluemunor Jermaine Eluemunor isn't backing down from anyone. He may seem like a gentle giant on social media, but as we mentioned earlier, he doesn't shy away from on-field scraps. He engaged with Thibodeaux during OTAs and regularly plays through the whistle. If he's shutting down an edge rusher consistently in hot weather, things are going to get testy.

New York Giants' Brian Burns praises Tomon Fox, calls him underrated
When the New York Giants decided to bring back outside linebacker Tomon Fox this offseason on a one-year, exclusive rights free agent deal, it wasn't seen as major news. But Giants fans know that Fox, who has been with the team since being signed as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina in 2022, is a key part of the club's defensive depth and a key special-teams performer. Advertisement Fox played in 11 games last year and is not likely to see much of the field on defense this year with the addition of prized rookie Abdul Carter, but that shouldn't diminish Fox in anyone's eyes. He is still highly thought of by coaches and teammates alike. Veteran linebacker Brian Burns recently called out Fox by name, calling him underrated during an interview with the Giants Huddle Podcast. "This year, I'm planning on having waves and waves of rushers," Burns told host John Schmeelk. "Not only is it me and K.T. (Kayvon Thibodeaux), but now we have Abdul (Carter), Chauncey (Golston), we have a guy that goes under the radar a lot. His name is Tomon Fox. These are really guys that can get at the quarterback. I'm really excited." Fox has always been a favorite of the coaches as he is always ready to step in where needed. When he does step in, Fox usually makes his presence known. When the Giants initially signed Fox back in 2022, he drew praise from another Tar Heel legend who played a little linebacker here with the Giants: Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor. Advertisement "I know he's hardcore, and not being drafted will make him work harder. He is a solid player from what I've seen," Taylor said at the time. Fox has not disappointed since. He's been stuck in a numbers game, but that won't deter him. The Giants know they will be getting an A-level effort when they need one from him. NFL personnel evaluator: Have to account for New York Giants' Brian Burns on every snap
New York Giants star pass-rusher Brian Burns made a solid impact during his first season with the team, but he's still got more to prove as he enters his prime. The former first-round pick, who was acquired by the Giants last offseason, recorded 8.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, and 61 total pressures, per Pro Football Focus. It was a solid overall first impression for Giants fans. With that said, Burns was left off the annual positional rankings from ESPN. Instead, he was placed in the "Honorable Mention" category. Though he ultimately failed to make the list, one NFL executive sang the praises of the 27-year-old. "He's still got premier ability, someone you have to account for on every snap. If this was a skill-set conversation only, he'd be top five. He's got everything you want from that standpoint. But he just hasn't had the consistent production," said one NFL personnel evaluator via ESPN. The Giants will be leaning heavily on the star pass-rusher to produce in 2025, especially after they signed him to a $141 million deal last offseason. With Burns set to reprise his role as the leader of the pass rush, the Giants are also hoping the return of Dexter Lawrence and Kayvon Thibodeaux, along with the arrival of Abdul Carter, will give them a feared pass rush. Though he hasn't provided elite production, Burns has the skill set to explode in any given season. With more help along the defensive line, it wouldn't be a surprise if he turned in a career season in 2025.
