Advertisement READ MORE IN BOXING Hearn told SunSport: "When we looked at the Pacquiao fight it was coming up to two years ago now, first time, there was no world title on the line. "It was a big name. We got a lot of criticism about that but I don't think Pacquiao should be fighting for a world title but good luck to him if he comes through. "I don't think he will. But you know, once Conor Benn drops down to 147, he'll be looking for world titles." Benn was due to fight Chris Eubank Jr in October 2022 but he was withdrawn after testing positive for Clomifene - known to boost testosterone. Klitschko did it, he came back very successfully. "I can show you ten guys in that rankings, who shouldn't even be ranked so don't be bitching about it! "Manny Pacquiao, at 75 per cent could beat most of the the top 20. So people are always gonna criticise." 3 Sean Gibbons with Manny Pacquiao Credit: X Advertisement

Tyson Fury Eyes Ring Return, Targets Anthony Joshua And Oleksandr Usyk
Tyson Fury may return to boxing, eyeing fights with Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk. He aims to reclaim titles and avenge losses, especially against Usyk. Decision expected soon. Irish Boxing legend Tyson 'Gypsy King' Fury is potentially eyeing a return to the ring, after his wife, Paris, consented to the decision. He already has a couple of names in his mind that he wants to fight in order to add to his legacy. Anthony Joshua, his British compatriot, emerged as a potential candidate that he would want to share the square with. 'He might be f***ing 60 by the time I decide I want him – or it might be next week. I am looking forward to contemplating the idea of returning. I am taking it all onboard and I will make a decision in the forthcoming few months. The all-British fight with Joshua will be big and if we both go to our grave – without having fought each other – it would be a travesty for British boxing," he added. However, Joshua could be sidelined, should Fury get a shot at the reigning heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk. 'But I feel like, what I really want is revenge. But I only want to fight Oleksandr Usyk at Wembley, in front of 100,000 people, and lift all the belts. That would be my dream," he said. Fury and Usyk have already met twice in Saudi Arabia. In their first bout, with their undefeated records on the line – a shot to become the first 'four-belt' lineal, undisputed heavyweight champion – Fury found himself on the wrong end of the judges' scorecards as he lost a split decision to Usyk. It was later revealed that his wife lost their baby in the follow up to the fight. 'The hardest thing for me around that first Usyk fight was that I could not be there, for the person who has been there the most for me in my life, when she needed me the most. That was the toughest thing." he said. An immediate re-match was booked as Fury prepared himself to shatter the aura around the now undisputed and still-undefeated Usyk. Fury, albeit locked in, faced an ever-evolving and elusive Usyk, who outclassed him for the majority of the fight which led to a unanimous decision victory for the Ukrainian. This ultimately led to Fury announcing his retirement via social media. This, however, isn't his first time. Fury's license was suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control in October 2016, as his mental health deteriorated and he spiraled into a pit of despair and drugs after winning the world title(s) off Usyk's compatriot – Wladimir Klitschko. He wouldn't stay down for long, as he would make his comeback to the ring in 2018 – setting up the now-famous trilogy with the American power-puncher, Deontay Wilder. Fights – which were microcosm of his heart and grit (and chin) in the face of adversity. Will Fury make a searing return like before? Where he breaks his losing streak and goes on a title run? Or will the fight with Joshua, or Usyk trilogy definitively mark the end of a storied career? We'll see.

Controversial Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn rematch rules announced
It was recently confirmed that the British boxing stars will go head-to-head for a second time in September - and the rules for the sequel have been revealed The eye-opening weight rules for Chris Eubank Jr 's rematch with Conor Benn has been revealed after their fight was made official. Eubank Jr and Benn will go head-to-head for a second time on September 20 - with the Ring Magazine confirming the news on Sunday evening. Their next fight will be part of the Riyadh Season event and will be promoted by Sela, Boxxer and Matchroom. Both men clashed back in April at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In what was an epic back-and-forth encounter, Eubank Jr would eventually get his hand raised on points. According to the Ring Magazine, the rules will be the same as the first time around. There will be a middleweight limit of 160 pounds with a ten pound rehydration clause on the morning of the fight. This means Benn will be fighting at a higher weight again and Eubank Jr may struggle make the official limit of 160lbs. Ahead of the showdown, 'Next Gen' failed to make weight as he weighed in first at 160.2lb, before tipping the scales at 160.05lb at his second attempt. That brought him a fine of £375,000, which went to Benn. However, on the morning of the fight, he came in under 170lbs and avoided another hefty fine. Just two months on from his win, Eubank Jr was ordered to appear in front of the British Boxing Board of Control to explain his use of a sauna to cut weight for his clash with Benn. Eubank Jr is alleged to have used a sauna for his failed attempt to make the middleweight limit. Footage emerged online of the Brit using the sauna and looked visibly distraught throughout the gruelling weight cut. The 35-year-old will appear before the BBBofC at the start of July and the governing body - who have banned the use of a sauna to make weight - will decide whether any disciplinary action is required. Following the win, Eubank Jr was immediately taken straight to hospital for medical attention having struggled to make weight on the Friday before having to weigh in again on the morning of the fight. An official tweet from BOXXER - the 35-year-old's promoters - read: "On recommendation of the onsite doctor, Chris Eubank Jr has been taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks." After the fight, Eubank Jr had a huge cut above his right eye with his face looking battered and swollen, while Benn suggested his rival had suffered a broken jaw. Benn said: "I wish him well. I know he's gone to the hospital, I have heard he's got a broken jaw do I wish him a speedy recovery." The pair were brought together again hours after their brutal grudge match when they were reunited in hospital. Benn didn't stay in hospital long, while Eubank Jr spent two nights in hospital before finally being discharged after undergoing checks. With the rematch just a few months away, no venue has yet been confirmed and the final decision will be made by Turki Alalshikh and Ring Magazine, Benn's promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed as he cited Tottenham and Wembley as possible venues. He said: "Spurs is contracted - it's a fantastic stadium and it worked extremely well the first time. "Obviously, it was sold out and this fight's even bigger, so you could possibly look at Wembley to increase the capacity, but that will be a decision for His Excellency and Ring Magazine to make the final call."

Sweatsuit Videos Raise Alarms: Was the Fight Doomed from the Start?
Sweatsuit Videos Raise Alarms: Was the Fight Doomed from the Start? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Before their fight, Eubank Jr weighed 0.05lb over the 11st 6lb middleweight limit for their match with Benn and was fined £375,000 due to that discrepancy. Advertisement The 35-year-old shared his vicious weight cut on his social media account with the caption: "Pain is temporary... Glory is forever." He appeared drenched in sweat. Thereafter, he stripped his clothes off and put on a sauna and a sweatshirt, instigating concern from his supporters. Former world champion George Groves now contends that the fight would have been canceled. 'If he fights Canelo next, great, it's up at 168. He hasn't got a worry about cutting to 160. You don't have to put up the videos of him sweating out in the sauna suit, which you're not allowed to do. You can't do that, Eubank! The British Boxing Board of Control should have pulled the fight. They should have canceled that fight as soon as they saw that. It's against the rules, you can't post videos of you losing weight like that and still box. But there was too much money on the line. I guarantee if someone did that on the undercard, they would not be boxing that night,' said George Groves during an interview with Scottish boxer Josh Taylor initially called for Chris Eubank Jr.'s bout with Conor Benn to be annulled after footage of their weight cut surfaced. Advertisement 'I think it should be called off. Eubank looked terrible, and he had a rehydration clause chucked in there on top of that as well. I think this is potentially a very disastrous night for boxing waiting to happen. I desperately hope this is not the case,' posted Taylor on social media. Elsewhere, Chris Eubank (35-3, 25 KOs) and his archrival Conor Benn met in an electrifying showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, with Eubank emerging victorious by unanimous decision. Graham McCormack shows injuries after breaking jaw during fight
Graham McCormack promised he would go to war in Glasgow and that's exactly what the Limerick man did against Darren Johnstone on Saturday night. The 38-year-old suffered a bad cut above his right eye from a clash of heads in the second round of the British Boxing Board of Control Celtic Super Middleweight title fight and had his jaw broken by the Scot in the fourth before being stopped in the fifth. But McCormack, now 10-5-1, went out on his shield and showed incredible toughness at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central against Johnstone, 12 years his junior, who moved to 11-1 with the victory. The G-Train was aiming to follow up his December victory over Craig McCarthy, with defending champion Johnstone coming out all guns blazing from the off. A clash of heads in the second round caused a bad cut just above the right eye of McCormack, who fought on despite the heavy amount of blood that was flowing from it. A shot from Johnstone broke the veteran's jaw in the fourth, during which round a doctor inspected the cut to McCormack and said he was good to continue. Despite the jaw break, McCormack came back out for the fifth, but a right hook from Johnstone knocked the Irishman down in front of his corner and the towel came in with referee Victor Loughlin's count on eight. Posting on social media after the bout, McCormack wrote: "Sorry guys couldn't get going. Bad cut in round 2 from a headbutt. Jaw broke in round 4. Boxing is a tough, tough game. Thanks to each and every person for all the support. I appreciate it all. Went out on my shield this is boxing. Home to my family tomorrow. Thank you all."
