British Safety Council unveils Impact Report for 2024, celebrating milestones and driving future change
British Safety Council has released its 2025 Impact Report, showcasing 2024 as a year of transformative work, community partnerships, and measurable progress. The report captures key accomplishments from the past year, as well as powerful stories from those directly impacted by British Safety Council's efforts. From training over 12,000 learners to funding SMEs, influencing policy and shaping wellbeing, British Safety Council drove measurable and human-centred outcomes focused on thriving workplaces for all workers. 'This report is a reflection of what we can achieve when we come together with purpose,' said Mike Robinson, CEO of British Safety Council. RTA Wins 2025 International Safety Award for Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been awarded the 2025 International Safety Award by the British Safety Council, recognising its outstanding performance in managing health and safety across its worksites. The award, received at the 'Distinction' level, reflects RTA's strong commitment to protecting its workforce and promoting a safe, healthy, and secure working environment. The British Safety Council's International Safety Award honours organisations worldwide that have demonstrated excellence in preventing workplace injuries, managing occupational health risks, and promoting overall employee well-being. In this year's edition, 874 organisations from 45 countries applied for the award, with RTA standing out for its integrated health and safety management systems. RTA's award-winning submission showcased a series of initiatives aimed at improving occupational safety and supporting employee well-being. These efforts are aligned with the RTA Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which prioritises safety and security across mobility systems, asset protection, institutional resilience, and staff well-being. The achievement highlights RTA's status as a global leader in workplace safety and underscores the authority's proactive approach in embedding health and safety considerations into every decision, project, and policy. The distinction also reflects the strong culture of well-being and mental health support fostered across RTA's operations. Celebrating its 67th year, the International Safety Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions in the field of occupational health and safety. Dubai Duty Free receives Two British Safety Council International Safety Awards honoured with distinction for the third time
Dubai Duty Free received two awards, the 'International Safety Awards for Distinction' and 'Best in Sector Award – Retail' at the British Safety Council Gala Night held at the Royal Garden Hotel in, London., UK earlier in June. Organised by the British Safety Council, the International Safety Awards recognise organisation's commitment to excellent standards of health, safety and wellbeing management at a specific site or business unit. This is the third time that the airport retailer has been awarded the highest rating of 'Distinction', with the first two being in 2022 and 2024. Dubai Duty Free was recognised for demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining a high standard of health and safety management systems. Commenting on the recognition, Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Ramesh Cidambi said, 'We are delighted to receive these two awards from the British Safety Council. To be awarded with the highest rating of 'Distinction' for the third time is a testament to our continuous effort in ensuring employee safety within the company.' Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council presented the award to. Dr. Bernard Creed, Senior Vice President - Finance, who attended the event in London and accepted the award on behalf of Dubai Duty Free. Dubai Duty Free has been awarded the International Safety Awards since 2017 which includes receiving the award with Merit twice in 2019 and 2023. A total of 874 applications from organisations across the world were received for the International Safety Awards 2025; with 90% of applicants successfully achieving a Distinction, Merit or Pass grade. These winners include organisations of all sizes, types and sectors, and businesses in the UK, Africa, Asia, China, Europe, India, the Middle East, Turkey and the Republic of Ireland. Dubai Duty Free operates as Integrated Management System in accordance with ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 45001:2018. The operation also performs regular audits on HSE System and HSE Operational Procedures as well as monitoring and implementing measures to ensure the health and well-being of its employees.
