BP Sees Higher Oil Production, Trading Helping to Offset Lower Energy Prices
BP said it anticipates higher oil production and trading revenue in the second quarter, helping to offset falling fuel prices. The energy giant predicted upstream oil production will be higher than in the first quarter. BP and other energy firms have noted oil and gas prices have declined in Q2.U.S.-listed shares of BP (BP) rose Friday after the energy giant predicted increased oil production and trading revenue in the current quarter, helping to offset lower fuel prices. The London-based firm estimated that second-quarter upstream oil production will be better than in the first quarter because of higher output and operations, especially in the U.S. In Q1, upstream oil production was 2.24 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, and BP said at the time it anticipated about the same in Q2. As with other rivals, including ExxonMobil (XOM) and Shell (SHEL), BP pointed out that its performance would be impacted by falling prices. It noted that in Q2 the price of Brent crude averaged $67.88 per barrel, down from $75.73 per barrel in Q1, and U.S. gas Henry Hub first of month index averaged $3.44 million British Thermal Units (mmBtu), versus $3.65 mmBtu in the first quarter. In today's update, the company added that the oil trading result "is expected to be strong." The company is scheduled to release its financial report Aug. 5. Including today's 2% gains, BP's U.S.-listed shares are up about 9% year-to-date. Read the original article on Investopedia

How the Meaco air conditioner can transform your summer
How the Meaco air conditioner can transform your summer Some may question whether air conditioners are worth the energy usage, the cost and the noise that comes with it. But so far during this heat and last year's hot, albeit short, heatwave this could be a lifesaver The Meaco air conditioners have been saving my sleep (Image: MEACO ) The weather's been really something. Scorching hot some days, and even when the sun's not shining, the air remains thick and balmy. In the last few weeks, Brits have seen temperatures soar to a sizzling 33°C in some areas. With that in mind, people have been scrambling to find the best way to cool down, with many reaching for fans and any form of lightweight clothing. However, respite from the heat might be best solved with a portable air conditioner, which has been credited for "transforming" experiences with the hot weather - and it could do the same for others. While some may be initially dubious about the energy consumption, cost, and potential noise associated with such a unit; during this current heatwave and last year's brief but intense hot spell, this could be proven invaluable. Technology Affiliates writer, Christopher Harper said that he invested in the MeacoCool MC Series Pro 10000 CH BTU Portable Air Conditioner, which set him back around £400 at Costco. Despite the hefty price tag, it has more than justified its cost by keeping both Chris and his partner comfortably cool, particularly while working from home, reports the Mirror. When it comes to selecting the right air conditioner, most households would be well-served by this 7000BTU model priced at £329.99. However, for those needing to cool a larger space, Chris recommended opting for the same 10000 BTU unit, available for £429. Air conditioning units are sized by "BTU" which is an acronym for British Thermal Units. BTU measures the heat quantity needed to increase the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. Love dreamy Welsh homes? Sign up to our newsletter here In choosing an air conditioner, it's vital that the BTU rating matches the size of the space you wish to cool. For Chris, a 10000 BTU unit was effective in lowering the temperature upstairs, particularly in the bedroom, ensuring comfortable sleep. It's essential first to calculate the square footage of the space you're cooling using a BTU calculator online, and then select an air conditioner with the corresponding BTU rating. Selecting a slightly higher BTU than necessary, would allow for the option of cooling bigger areas like the living room, which is something potential buyers should consider as well. The Dry Mode on the air conditioner, also acts both as a cooler and dehumidifier by extracting moisture from the air, significantly reducing mugginess before bedtime. Note that using this feature requires attaching a hose and container to dispose of the collected moisture. Additionally, there's the Cool Mode that promptly blasts cold air, substantially diminishing indoor warmth in about half an hour. For those scouting for alternatives, AppliancesDirect offers a 12000 BTU unit from electriQ for £349, or there's a Costway 12000BTU variant listed at £299.95. However, it's not all plain sailing with air conditioners of this sort. Despite their energy efficiency, they do consume a significant amount of electricity. Article continues below Portable air conditioners are also quite loud. While you may acclimatise to the noise - it may take some time because it is very loud. There's also the task of handling a large hose outside the window - which can be tricky and irritating. But considering the relief it provides during scorching periods like these, it may be the right price to pay to tolerate the additional cost and noise - just to avoid feeling like you're dissolving like an ice lolly.

'I bought an air conditioner and it's saving me from the heatwave'
After researching air conditioners for ages, I'm glad I opted to buy a portable one last year It's another hot one for Brits this week with temperatures reaching highs of 33C in some areas. This means people will be grabbing fans, thinner clothes and anyway possible to keep cool in this stuffy and humid weather. However, this year, I don't need to worry about any of that within my home - and it's because of a portable air conditioner I bought last year. If it sounds like I'm bragging, it isn't because I want to; it's more that it has completely changed my life when the hot weather comes - and it might do the same for others. I was also extremely sceptical at first - as you probably are reading this - worrying about energy usage, the cost and the noise that comes with it. But so far during this heat and last year's hot, albeit short, heatwave it has been a lifesaver - and I can not recommend it more to anyone else. I bought this MeacoCool MC Series Pro 10000 CH BTU Portable Air Conditioner for around £400 at Costco and despite it being an expensive purchase, it has more than pulled its weight in terms of keeping me and my partner cool in the home, especially when we work from home. When it comes to choosing the right air conditioner, most homes will do fine with this 7000BTU unit for £329.99 - but for those who have a larger room or space to cool, I recommend going for the same 10000 BTU unit I bought here for £429. Air conditioning capacity is commonly measured by "BTU" which stands for British Thermal Units. BTU is defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. The size of the room you want to cool depends on the amount of BTU power your air conditioner should have. I went with a 10000 BTU machine to cool the upstairs of my home - mostly my bedroom - so I could sleep peacefully at night. The first thing you should do is measure the square footage of your room by using a BTU calculator like this one, then go for air conditioners with that BTU. I personally went up slightly in case I wanted to cool larger rooms within my home, like the living room - which I suggest shoppers do too. For the past week, I've had the unit run on Dry Mode which is a cooling dehumidifier which takes the moisture out of the room and cools it - making it feel less muggy and humid. It's a brilliant feature to have before you go to bed - but you do need to attach a hose and bucket so it can get rid of the moisture in the home. Then there is the Cool Mode that does what it says. It shoots super cold air across the hall and within half an hour, it makes the heat so much more manageable - and less like I'm cooking in a microwave oven. It's one of the best purchases I have made - and I would do it again. Alternative wise, AppliancesDirect has this 12000BTU unit from electriQ for £329 or this £284.95 12000BTU one from Costway. However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows with air conditioners like these. Despite these units being energy efficient, they do eat a lot of juice when it comes to electricity - but when I'm hot, I don't mind my bill spiking a bit to feel more comfortable. Portable air conditioners are also noisy. Don't underestimate me when I say how noisy it is. My partner and I regularly fall asleep with it on for an hour or so. We've managed to get used to the noise - but it took us a while because it is VERY noisy. There's also the need of handing of large house outside the window - which can be fiddly and annoying. But for the comfort it brings during hot times like this, I am more than happy to accept the extra cost and noise - just to not feel like I'm melting like an ice cream.

What is 'Ton' in air conditioners and how it manages cooling capacity viz. 1, 1.5, and 2 tons?
New Delhi: The summer season is at its peak and it is almost impossible to stay without using an air conditioner. We have been these cooling gadgets for many years for our convenience during hot and humid climate. It is for a given that when we purchase an AC, we select the one based on our requirements and mostly select from 1 ton, 1.5 ton, and 2 tons. You might have come across these figures many times, but did you ever think what it denotes? Many people may consider it as weight, but it is not weight. So, what exactly is it and why is it important for buyers to know about it? Let's find out. Ton in air conditioners refers not to the weight of the AC unit, but to its cooling capacity. It means that ton measures how much heat can be removed from a place in one hour. Understanding 'Ton' in an AC: 1 Ton cooling = 12,000 British Thermal Units (BTU) per hour. It means that 1 Ton AC removes 12,000 BTU/hour. 1.5 Ton AC removes 18,000 BTU/hour. 2 Ton AC removes 24,000 BTU/hour. This concept is related to the amount of heat required to melt one ton (2,000 pounds) of ice in 24 hours. Selecting the right capacity of tonnage when choosing an AC is essential for energy efficiency, cooling performance, and cost saving. Here's why it matters The tonnage should match the room size. 0.8-1-ton AC for small rooms (100-150 square feet). 1.5-ton AC for medium-sized rooms (150-250 square feet), and 2 tons or more for large rooms (250+ square feet). If the AC is too small, it will struggle with cooling and increase the electricity bill. If it is too large, it will cool quickly but will not control humidity. A properly sized AC consumes less electricity, resulting in lower bills. High-star rated ACs (such as 5-star models) take less power in the same tonnage, leading to savings over time. Models with slightly higher tonnage are required in hot and humid areas. In less used areas, lower tonnage may be sufficient. Overall, 'ton' in AC refers to cooling capacity, not weight. Choosing the right tonnage model based on room size, climate, and energy efficiency ensures better cooling and cost-effectiveness. Customers must select the right tonnage. If required, they can consult the engineers who will guide them and help them in buying the correct ton AC that is too big or too small.
