Ritz says we could see higher rain and storm chances later this afternoon and evening. Heavy downpours and lightning are possible with these storms. We could see on-and-off showers and storms on Saturday, with more chances on Sunday. 'Most of the heaviest rain will fall during the first half of the day,' said Ritz. 'Rain and storms will become more scattered late afternoon and evening.' Strong to severe storms are also possible next week. Storm Center 7 will update this story. We will see warm temperatures today before chances for rain increase this weekend. Ritz says temperatures could reach the upper 80s. We will also see more clouds than sun. Part of the region is under an Air Quality Alert today. This means ozone levels may approach or exceed unhealthy standards, according to Ritz. To reduce ozone levels, you can do the following: Carpool Refuel your vehicle Do not idle your vehicle Mow your lawn during the evening hours and avoid using gas-powered lawn equipment. Ritz says it could be a wet Father's Day weekend. Scattered showers and storms are possible late Friday afternoon into early evening. Ritz says any storms should remain below severe limits. Afternoon showers and storms will be scattered later today, almost isolated, according to Ritz. 'An isolated severe storm with damaging winds or with small hail is possible; the best chance will be southeast of Dayton,' she said. Ritz added that these showers and storms should move faster than we saw over the weekend. 'Any heavy rain could cause flash flooding concerns due to excessive amounts from previous storms,' she stated. Storm Center 7 is tracking the chance for poor air quality across the area this weekend due to wildfire smoke from Canada. We will continue to update this story. Visibility could be less than a half mile at times this morning due to dense fog across the Northern Miami Valley. Ritz says more showers and a few storms are possible today, but it will not be an all-day rain event. 'An isolated severe storm with spotty damaging winds is possible, but most storms will likely stay below severe limits,' she said. 'Heavy rain and lightning are the main threats with any storms. Anything over 101 is considered 'unhealthy for sensitive groups' such as older adults, children, and those with respiratory and cardiac diseases, according to the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) and the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA). Ritz says the low-level ozone and smoke will worsen the air quality for that group. It means people with respiratory issues could notice symptoms throughout the day. MVPC suggests taking these measures to help reduce ozone: Carpool, bike, walk, or take the bus Get gas after 8 p.m. Do not idle your vehicle because the exhaust contributes to air pollution Mow your lawn in the evening and avoid using gas-powered lawn equipment We will update this developing story.
