Bobby Flay Reveals Which Chef 'Has Been Asking to Compete For Years' on One of His Shows originally appeared on Parade. In a recent Instagram Q&A, spilled all kinds of behind-the-scenes tea about currently airing culinary competition show BBQ Brawl, including who is clamoring to be a mentor on the show. Over the years, BBQ Brawl has had many chefs as coaches/mentors on the show — Flay, Michael Symon, Eddie Jackson, Jet Tila, Sunny Anderson, Michael Voltaggio, , , and the late Anne Burrell. The judges since season two have been Chef Rodney Scott and Chef Brooke Williamson, plus TV personality Carson Kressley. But it turns out Williamson has been dying to compete on the asked by a fan, "Who else would you like to be a competitor coach?", Flay replied, "[Chef Brooke Williamson] has been asking to compete for years. Should we give her a chance??" Perhaps season 7 should be boyfriend vs. girlfriend since Flay and Williamson went public with their relationship earlier this year. The other secrets Flay spilled about BBQ Brawl include: Q: "How do you feel about your chances [this season]?"A: "My team is really talented this season. I think we will be tough to beat, but there are a handful of competitors on the other two teams that are very capable of winning. Should go down to the wire." Q: "What's the best way to get a crispy skin on non-battered chicken when grilling?"A: "Very low grill, skin side down and be patient. It could take close to 20 minutes slowly letting the fat render away. Then flip it over to finish cooking the meat."Q: "Have you ever used jackfruit as a meat substitute?"A: "Honestly, I haven't. It's really not my approach to cooking. I don't like meat 'substitutes.' If I want a vegetable- or starch-forward dish without meat, I make it about that vegetable as the focus." Q: "What has been the best part of being on this season of BBQ Brawl?"A: "I always love cooking with people I haven't cooked with before. I learn something every episode. Also, I love the playful trash talk with Maneet and Antonia. They're both really fun." Q: "Is that a real town or is it a set?"A: "It's an outdoor set outside of Austin, TX. They also do weddings and big events. It's called @starhillranch." Q: "Would you ever have a BBQ Brawl with regular home chefs?"A: "I believe BBQ Brawl is so popular because the people competing are so talented. The technique takeaway for the viewer is what brings people back to watch."Q: "What is the most difficult equipment to BBQ on?"A: "Smokers. There are so many variables. It takes a very experienced cook to nail it." Q: "Hamburger and hot dog buns should be lightly grilled, yay or nay?"A: "I always like a little toast on my buns. Love that contrast of texture." Q: "What's a good BBQ-themed name for a cat?"A: "Smokey….obviously." Bobby Flay Gushes Over New Girlfriend Brooke Williamson
Food Network star Bobby Flay opened up about his new girlfriend, Brooke Williamson. On his Instagram story on May 15, 2025, Flay was asked by a fan, 'If you had to compete as a team, who would you choose as your teammate?' He responded, according to People, 'I'll take @chefbrookew. I know our food would get an upgrade in terms of presentation. She makes delicious food, but it's always pretty too (like her).' Williamson shared the post to her own page. The story is no longer visible on either page. On May 2, Williamson shared a video on her Instagram page that shows her at the Kentucky Derby with Flay. According to Us Weekly, Flay has been married three times. Williamson is also divorced, the magazine reported. Willamson is the Top Chef Season 14 winner, according to Us Weekly, and she stars with Flay in his show Bobby's Triple Threat. A new season of the latter show is coming on July 9, according to Food Network. "Only the most-elite chefs will enter Bobby's secret kitchen to face off against acclaimed chef-titans Brooke Williamson, Michael Voltaggio and Tiffany Derry in a triple threat throwdown," the page says. "Brooke is a seasonal chef born and raised in California. Her food is always fresh and evolving, and her signature California-inspired cuisine has earned her worldwide acclaim," the channel's bio for Williamson says. "At the age of only 22, she was the youngest female chef ever to cook at the James Beard House, and her one-two punch flavor and finesse has her feared at every culinary arena she enters," it adds.

Bobby Flay Says Girlfriend Brooke Williamson Is a Good Match
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay didn't hold back when asked about his new girlfriend Brooke Williamson. Based on Flay's most recent comments, the romance is going very strong. Both Flay and Williamson are starring on the show BBQ Brawl. They started out as professional friends before the relationship turned romantic. 'Well, first of all, I've been friends with Brooke forever,' he told People on June 4. 'I mean, she and I have been friends for a long time and so we shot this show before we started actually officially dating. So it has always kind of been the same for me.' Both Flay and Williamson are divorced with kids, and that has bonded them, he told People, saying, 'I love working with Brooke. We have a lot in common. We're very lucky. We're both chefs. We both have kids. We're both parents.' They've starred in other shows together but have only let the public know about their relationship since March. 'We are both in the restaurant business,' he told People. 'We have tons to talk about in terms of the things that we love to do besides just go and have dinner every once in a while. So it's been really great. And one of the things I really like about being in a relationship with Brooke is that she's great to bounce things off of. Like we ask each other's opinion about things that we're doing food wise or restaurant wise or business wise, all the time. So it's really nice to have kind of a best friend that you're dating that can also be helpful answering the questions that you have.' Flay has gushed about Williamson before.
