Spoon, snap, repeat: top Instagrammable desserts in Dubai

Dubai doesn't do basic and that includes dessert. These desserts are here to slay your stories, ice cream too pretty to eat (but trust us, you'll want to), cakes with main character energy, and sweets so extra they deserve their own spotlight. Taste? Impeccable. Pics? Mandatory. Because let's be honest it's all about the 'gram. Matilda Cake at Parkers Parkers brings the most iconic movie dessert to life with their viral Matilda Cake, a giant, fudgy slice straight out of the film. It's rich, gooey, and absolutely drowning in glossy chocolate ganache. One bite and you're Bruce Bogtrotter living the dream, but let's be honest, it's the ganache pour that steals the show. Slow-mo it, zoom in, add dramatic music, this one's made for your feed and not just your story. Insta tip: Capture a boomerang as you lift the holder, that first reveal moment when the hot ganache starts to drip is pure gold. Time it right and let the chocolate flow steal the spotlight. Supermarket launches 24-layer ‘Matilda' chocolate cake inspired by Bruce Bogtrotter

One of the biggest food trends of late has been the Dubai chocolate bar, which pays homage to the traditional Knafeh dessert. But we've spotted another craze within the foodie scene: childhood nostalgia. Case in point: Tesco is now selling a new 'Matilda' chocolate cake inspired by the classic Nineties movie. Yes, that scene of Bruce Bogtrotter devouring a gigantic cake at the cruel bidding of Miss Trunchbull. It's a scene that has lived rent-free in many of our minds ever since – and now, you've got a chance to recreate it for yourself. The sweet treat comes from Lancashire-based family-owned Studio Bakery. With 12 layers of chocolate sponge and 12 layers of chocolate ganache, it nods to the 24-layered cake in the movie. Though still a chunky slab, it's smaller in size and serves 10 people. It's gone viral on TikTok with some praising its taste but others criticising its high price. You'll have to see for yourself whether it's worth the splurge. Here's everything you need to know about the cake stocked at Tesco. The chocolate cake is the brainchild of a Lancashire family-run bakery Studio Bakery, which is much-loved for its innovative takes on sweet goods. It's been so popular that it's sold out on the bakery's website, so you'll want to act fast if you want to try it. The 12 layers of sponge are made using dark chocolate and are sandwiched between layers of chocolate ganache – and it sounds like the afternoon sweet treat. It serves 10, but we're not to judge if you indulge like Bruce Bogtrotter.

'Matilda cake' launches in Tesco but chocolate fans hesitate over price

A 24-layer sweet treat inspired by Bruce Bogtrotter's cake in the classic children's book and film, Matilda, was launched in Tesco recently, but many fans cannot get past the price Chocolate fans are buzzing after spotting a delicious chocolate cake that resembles the iconic cake from book and film Matilda. We all remember when Bruce Bogtrotter was caught stealing a slice of scary head teacher Miss Trunchbull's chocolate cake - and, as punishment, was forced to chomp through an entire 18-inch cake. The sweet treat has become well-known and many people have tried to recreate their own versions at home. But if you are not a great baker, or simply don't have the time or equipment, brands and bakeries have also recreated their own versions of the famous cake. Leeds-based bakery Baked released a 24-inch layered cake named Bertha in London's Fortnum Mason earlier this year. ‌ And now, Tesco has brought out a 'Matilda cake' that you can pick up in stores nationwide. However, some people are concerned about how much it costs. ‌ Created by Lancashire's Studio Bakery, it is a 24-layer chocolate treat featuring 'scrumptious all-butter sponge made with dark chocolate, layered and covered in luscious chocolate ganache,' according to Tesco's website. It is also said be "fantastic" when served hot, if you warm it up in the microwave for 30-40 seconds. Studio Bakery said: "Our chocolate Matilda cake is a 24-layer love letter to chocolate in all its fudgy, gooey glory. Every slice is hand-cut, hand-finished, and properly decadent, making it perfect for parties, birthdays, or a solo moment of glory with a spoon and zero regrets." The product is said to served 10 people, but many chocolate lovers cannot get past its £16 price tag. It comes after @johns_snackreviews on Instagram shared a post and said: "NEW Matilda Cake by the Studio Bakery! Out now at Tesco for £16!" "16 quid for cake! No ta," commented one. "£16. Is it worth that price?" added another. One other said: "Omg need, but £16?" ‌ Meanwhile, after @newsfoodspotteruk shared a video of the cake online, one commented: "Bruce Bogtrotter is on his way to Tesco." One other insisted it looks "unreal". The product is available online or in Tesco stores. Tesco has been contacted for a comment. In other food news, for everyone who's ever been disappointed by soggy sweet potato fries, a food influencer known as Pinch of Mint has got you covered with a special trick to ensure they come out irresistibly crispy. Plus, Jaffa Cake fans have issued a complaint after spotting a difference in taste of the iconic McVities treats. Will you be rushing to pick up a box of the viral cake? Comment below.

Hit bakery selling viral 24-layer chocolate cake announces 'game changer' that's got people in a frenzy

A hit bakery which has gone viral for its 24-layer chocolate cake which costs £20 a slice has made a 'huge' announcement about its future - describing it as their 'biggest change' yet. Get Baked opened its first brick and mortar store in Manchester's Stevenson Square earlier this year, leading to huge queues as people camped out to get a slice of their viral cakes and bakes. Starting life in Leeds in 2011, the bakery - led by Rich Myers - has become a baking sensation for its Bertha cake (inspired by the infamous Bruce Bogtrotter cake in Matilda), as well as its cookies, pies, and cakes. READ MORE: 'I went for a cheap €1 beer at a Benidorm bar - despite being warned against it' READ MORE: 'I visited the bakery on the edge of Chinatown that's so good I went twice' Now, just two months after opening up in the Northern Quarter, Rich and the team has announced their Get Baked is set to expand on its offerings thanks to a popular Yorkshire deli shop - and fans have been unable to contain their excitement. It has been revealed that all Get Baked stores will soon begin serving sandwiches and deli goods from Silver's Delicattessan. Located in Bramley, Leeds, the sandwich shop first opened in November 2023 by owner Chris Riley-Smith and has found similar fame to the bakery with its homemade breakfast sandwiches and crammed hoagies. With combinations including salt beef brisket with pickles, swiss cheese and mustard, as well as a popular chicken and bacon sandwich featuring overnight-roasted chicken and homemade aioli, the shop has also been nominated at the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Awards. Posting about the partnership, Get Baked wrote on Instagram: 'Silver's is joining the GET BAKED family. This marks the biggest change to both brands since their conception - one which will provide endless joy for all involved, both staff and customers alike. 'Silver's will become the in-store sandwich and deli offerings at all GET BAKED locations, including future openings. I cannot do what Silver's does, better than Silver's can, and I don't want to even try. 'Yesterday, their Hot Honey Chicken sandwich nearly ended my life - joy to that degree can be dangerous, and I very nearly perished because of it. This is going to be a lot of fun, and it's going to make a lot of people incredibly happy, which, ultimately, is why we do it.' As expected, the news went down an immediate fan with fans of both stores. One person boldly proclaimed: 'This is the Yorkshire equivalent of a royal wedding.' Another said: 'This is good Manchester news.' Join our Manc Life WhatsApp group HERE Another person wrote: 'This is a game changer.' One other said: 'Huge!!! Congrats.' Another praised the two for joining forces by posting: 'When businesses know other businesses' worth and use to further each other, it can only be hugely applauded.' It has not yet been announced when the partnership will come into force, with Get Baked simply telling fans to 'stay tuned' and to 'please ensure that you prepare yourselves accordingly' in the meantime.
