Carlisle United community trust receive gold award for Armed Forces work

Carlisle United's Community Sports Trust have received top recognition from the Ministry of Defence. The CST have been awarded the MoD's Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award. It is the highest accolade for employers supporting the Armed Forces Community, and sees the Community Sports Trust at Brunton Park receive the gold award for the first time, having been awarded bronze in 2018 and then silver last year. The award recognises the CST's work with events such as their weekly sessions for veterans, and their involvement in this summer's Armed Forces Day at Brunton Park. James Tose, the Community Sports Trust's chief executive, said: 'Everyone at Carlisle United Community Sports Trust is delighted to receive the Ministry of Defence Gold Employer Scheme Award in recognition of the services and support we offer veterans in our community. "I am immensely proud that Teresa Mulholland and Ryan Godderidge are getting the reward for their hard work, having created a safe space for our service veterans here at Carlisle United." Teresa Mulholland, the CST's director of governance, safeguarding, EDI and veterans co-ordinator, added: 'This accolade reflects the dedication of our team, partners, and especially the veterans we support. From Bronze in 2018, to Silver in 2024, and now Gold in 2025, it's been an incredible journey. "Our weekly veteran sessions, monthly breakfasts, and collaboration on Armed Forces Day 2025 all demonstrate the strength of our provision. Thank you to the Ministry of Defence for recognising our commitment." The CST hold sessions for veterans on Wednesdays mornings and Thursday evenings, offering exercise and social opportunities, as well as monthly breakfast meetings on Wednesdays. 'These initiatives help to assist veterans in transitioning to civilian life and foster community connections,' the CST say.

The head coach says some of the physical work has been gruelling but his players have tackled it with the right determination and 'resilience.' 'It's been very good. I've enjoyed the first week. I think it's been a good mix of ball work and physical work,' Hughes told the News & Star. 'We've been on the track, and given them periods of really intense physical work which they've come through up to this point really well. Carlisle United confirm signing of winger Junior Luamba

Carlisle United have sealed the signing of Salford City wide man Junior Luamba for an undisclosed fee. Luamba, 22, has penned a two-year deal at Brunton Park. "His pace is a real asset - whether he's pressing high, stretching the opposition, or tracking back in transition, his physical presence and work rate from the front are excellent. "He plays with a positive mindset at both ends of the pitch. He's fearless going forward and equally committed to the defensive side of the game, which is exactly what we ask from our front players. "He's shown us he can operate effectively in a few different roles, which gives us great options tactically.
