KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed receiving a report regarding a 32-second video circulating on TikTok that uses AI-generated images of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. The video, found on the account @DATUKZULKARNAIN77, is suspected to be part of a fraudulent scheme. Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa stated that the clip falsely portrays Sultan Ibrahim announcing financial aid for Malaysians in distress. The video directs viewers to contact an individual named 'Datuk Zulkarnain,' raising immediate red flags. 'The content is fabricated and likely created using AI technology,' Rusdi clarified in an official statement. Authorities are actively investigating the case under Section 419 of the Penal Code (cheating by impersonation) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (misuse of network facilities). The public is urged to remain vigilant against such scams, especially those involving manipulated media. Police warn public over AI-generated fake video of King offering financial aid

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have warned the public against falling for a fake video circulating on social media that features a manipulated image of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, purportedly announcing financial aid for Malaysians. In a statement today, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the 32-second video, uploaded to the TikTok account @datukzulkarnain77, falsely depicts the King delivering a speech urging individuals in financial distress to contact a person identified as Datuk Zulkarnain. "The video is fake and is believed to have been produced using artificial intelligence (AI) technology," he said. Rusdi said a police report had been lodged, and an investigation was ongoing under Section 419 of the Penal Code for impersonation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities. He reminded the public not to be duped by the content and to avoid contacting the individual named in the video. "This is an attempt to deceive the public. We advise everyone to be cautious and not to share or act on misleading content involving the Royal Institution," he said. Police also urged social media users to report suspicious content and to verify the authenticity of any video involving national figures or offers of financial assistance.

New patrol car base boosts KL police efficiency and public safety

KUALA LUMPUR: Police patrol vehicles remain a vital force within the Kuala Lumpur police contingent, serving as the frontliners in maintaining the capital's security. Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Director, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, who launched the Sentul police patrol car base at Jinjang today, said the unit has contributed to numerous successful arrests involving drug cases, criminal activities, and immigration offences. It has also strengthened police presence through patrols, crime prevention efforts, and emergency response. "When we talk about patrols, we immediately think of the patrol cars and the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB). Patrols must operate 24 hours a day. "The patrol car unit has achieved numerous successes during my tenure as the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief. They are the 'frontliners' in ensuring Kuala Lumpur remains safe and peaceful," he told reporters. Also present were Kuala Lumpur Police Management Department Chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Suffian Sulaiman; Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari; and Kepong member of Parliament Lim Lip Eng. Rusdi added that the establishment of this new base marks a strategic move to boost MPV operational efficiency and enhance public confidence and the sense of safety. According to him, statistics from last year show that 1,127 reports were lodged, with 1,155 individuals arrested by the patrol car and URB units under Sentul district police headquarters. "This marks an increase compared to the previous year, which recorded 913 reports and 934 arrests," he said. He said the development of the base, located at a former seized-items storage area adjacent to the Jinjang Centralised Lockup, was made possible through contributions, including RM250,000 from Lim and RM15,000 from Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, among other donors. "The placement of the MPV base in this area was proposed by the Sentul District Police Chief and his deputy before receiving approval," he said. Meanwhile, Lim expressed hope that all frontline police officers in the capital, including patrol personnel, would be equipped with body cameras and dashboard cameras in their patrol vehicles. "I will raise this with the Home Ministry so that priority can be given to equipping Kuala Lumpur police with these devices. "This is important because Kuala Lumpur has a high population and many business centres, which in turn results in a higher likelihood of crime," he said.
