KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating fake TikTok accounts impersonating Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, suspected of using AI technology to deceive the public. The fraudulent accounts promoted financial aid schemes, prompting an official probe. Acting Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. He urged the public to verify any suspicious financial offers on social media before engaging. The Home Minister's Office issued a statement warning the public about the fake accounts and confirmed reports have been lodged with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and TikTok. Three fraudulent accounts—Saifuddin_Nasution0, Saifuddin_Nasution1, and Saifuddin_Nasution12—have already been removed by the platform. 'PDRM warns that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the law,' said Fadil in a statement. KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police are currently investigating the disappearance of a teenager from the United Kingdom (UK) who arrived in Malaysia on June 7. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department acting director Deputy Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said that the teenager, identified as David Renz Galletes Balisong, entered Malaysia through the KL International Airport (KLIA) and is believed to be still in the country. DCP Fadil added that the case has been classified as a missing person case, and the teenager's photo has been shared to facilitate public assistance in providing information. He advised the public not to make any speculations or statements that could jeopardise the investigation. "Members of the public with information are urged to channel it to the police by contacting Investigating Officer Inspector Hazuin Jan Abdul Hamid from the KLIA district police headquarters at 017-736 9187," he said. - Bernama

SEPANG: Police have confirmed that a British teenager who recently arrived in Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been reported missing, with investigations now underway to locate the youth. In a statement today, the police said it is actively investigating a report lodged at KLIA's main terminal building regarding the teen's disappearance. "Preliminary investigations confirm that the teenager entered Malaysia through KLIA and is believed to still be in the country. Efforts to gather information that could assist in tracing and resolving the case are ongoing," said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director (intelligence and operations) Datuk Fadil Marsus. He said the case is being handled by the department as a missing persons case, and an image of the teen has been released to facilitate public awareness and assistance. "The public is advised not to speculate or issue statements that could affect the investigation process," he said. Those with any information regarding the teenager's whereabouts are urged to contact the KLIA district police headquarters' investigating officer, Inspector Hazuin Jan Abdul Hamid, at 017-736 9187. Police have yet to disclose the circumstances leading up to the teen's disappearance, but have assured that every effort is being made to locate the individual swiftly.

The 34-year-old suspect was fatally shot during a similar shootout with police at 7.50 pm in Bandar Puteri Jaya, according to acting director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Datuk Fadil Marsus. 'This was a special operation led by Bukit Aman CID in collaboration with several state contingents and all branches of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). 'Today, we encountered an individual believed to be part of a gang involved in a series of armed robberies across several states. Attempts were made to arrest him, but he resisted and a shootout ensued, leading to his death,' he told reporters at the scene. A pistol and several other items were recovered from the suspect, who had more than 30 prior criminal records. Fadil said police believe the suspect was also a key member of a criminal group, comprising over a dozen members, responsible for a string of armed robberies, gangsterism and drug trafficking dating back to 2022, which caused losses estimated at nearly RM6 million. 'Our investigations indicate this suspect was also involved in three recent armed robberies in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Perak,' he added. Fadil emphasised that the police would continue to act aggressively to apprehend individuals involved in violent crimes, especially those involving firearms. SUNGAI PETANI: Police have arrested the wife of a man who was shot dead during a shootout in Bandar Puteri Jaya here yesterday. Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said the woman, in her 20s, was arrested at the couple's rented home located near the scene of the incident. He said police also seized a pistol during a search of the premises. "The woman has been remanded for seven days starting today, until July 12, to assist with further investigations," Hanyan said at a press conference at the Kuala Muda district police headquarters today. Earlier today, it was reported that a 34-year-old man with a past record of more than 30 criminal-related offences, was shot dead during a shootout with police at 7.50pm yesterday. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus said the man was believed to be connected to two other suspects who were shot dead in a separate shootout in Jitra, Kedah, earlier the same day. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
