AN iconic Scottish musician has died at the age of 69 after drowning in a "freak swimming accident". The Bollock Brothers singer Jock McDonald passed away in Bundoran, Ireland on Saturday. 2 The tragic news was confirmed by the band's drummer Pat Pattyn on social media. He wrote: "It is with great sadness in my heart, I have to bring you this terrible news. "Sadly, our singer Jock McDonald has died in Ireland, apparently a freak swimming accident. "His children asked me to tell you all via this way. His family and all the Bollock Brothers are in shock. We are going to try and give this a place, but that won't be easy. Please don't try to call us today, give us some time, please. Rest in peace, my friend. I will miss you." The Bollock Brothers were formed in 1979 and are best known for their English-language cover of Serge Gainsbourg's French song song Harley David (Son of a B***h) and Alex Harvey's Faith Healer. Tributes have flooded in for punk rock pioneer Jock on social media. One person wrote: "He was a complete one off! "He will be missed, and somewhere up amongst the stars, his spirit flies free, forever dreaming of the next brilliant idea! "My condolences to his family and band mates." Another said: "Thanks for the great moments we shared together, Jock. "I could write a book about all the crazy stories we've been through, the beautiful memories will remain forever. "Let your star shine in the sky like you always shined on stage, shine on you crazy diamond. Rest in peace, my dear friend." A third added: "We will remember you for your kindness, your friendliness, your love for Belgium and Germany, your love of football and your involvement in punk since its very beginnings. Rest in peace and thank you."

Legendary singer Jock McDonald has died in a tragic swimming accident at the age of 69. The B*****k Brothers frontman drowned in Bundoran, Ireland on July 26, 2025, with the band's drummer Pat Pattyn confirming the news on social media. Man pulled from water in Co Donegal dies in hospital

A man who was pulled from the water in Co Donegal has died in hospital, gardai said. Emergency services were called to Bundoran after they were alerted to a man in the water at around 5.20 pm on Saturday. Advertisement RNLI removed the man, aged in his 70s, from the water, and he was taken to Sligo University Hospital in a serious condition but later died. Gardaí do not suspect foul play was involved in the incident.

Person rushed to hospital after falling from cliff in Co Donegal

A person has been rushed to hospital after falling from a cliff in Co Donegal. The alarm was raised shortly after 7am when a member of the public heard calls for help at Cliff Fall at Bundoran's West End. Advertisement They immediately contacted the emergency services for help. Malin Head Coast Guard coordinated the response, tasking Bundoran RNLI, Donegal Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, and the Sligo-based Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 118 to the scene. Bundoran RNLI volunteers were paged at 7.25am and proceeded quickly to the scene. The casualty was located at the base of the cliff, having landed on rocks. Advertisement The RNLI crew at the scene managed to recover the casualty to the beach, where the helicopter had landed to assist. The casualty was then stabilised and airlifted by Rescue 118 before being transferred to Sligo General hospital for further treatment. The condition of the casualty is not known at this stage. Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Daimon Fergus, said 'We are grateful to the member of the public who raised the alarm this morning. "This was a challenging situation, and thanks to the swift response and teamwork between all agencies, the casualty was reached quickly and is now receiving the medical care they need. We wish them a full recovery.' The RNLI reminds anyone visiting the coast to stay well back from cliff edges, take extreme care near the water, and in an emergency, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.

Sea Sessions confirms there will be no festival this year

The popular music festival Sea Sessions has announced there will not be a 2025 edition. After starting back in 2008, Sea Sessions has grown into one of Irelands top music festivals. It is the only festival that brings together the unique lifestyle aspects of music, surf, sports over three days. Advertisement The event usually takes place on Tullen Strand in Bundoran, Co Donegal. A post on Facebook on Thursday said: "Sorry for having been so quiet on here. But we have some news. "Sea Sessions is taking a break in 2025. The crew are working away on exciting plans and hope to be back to you with more information soon. "Thanks for your support, the good wishes and all the messages." The 2024 edition had a lineup that included the likes of Cian Ductor, Johnny Marr, Jazzy, Jake Bugg, Amble, Kingfishr, Jerry Fish and Lea Hart. The event also featured b each volleyball in the sun, knockout soccer and rugby as well as morning yoga and swimrise on the beach. It also featured l iquid therapy which provides a supported environment that enables young people to experience the physical and therapeutic benefits of surf and the ocean, through child led and individual tailored programmes.
