Burjeel Holdings, a leading super-specialty healthcare provider in the MENA region, has announced the acquisition of a 100% stake in Riyadh's PhysioTrio Physiotherapy Center through its subsidiary, Burjeel Arabia. This strategic move reinforces Burjeel's commitment to expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia and advancing its capabilities in physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. Established in 2013, PhysioTrio is recognized for its excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and high patient demand. The center will now become part of Burjeel's PhysioTherabia network, the largest and fastest-growing physiotherapy and wellness network in the Kingdom. This integration further strengthens Burjeel's leadership in the Physiotherapy and rehabilitative care segment in Saudi Arabia. PhysioTrio is an advanced center with a strong focus on sports rehabilitation. It holds key partnerships, including contracts with the Ministry of Sport, positioning Burjeel to offer cutting-edge sports rehab services tailored to athletes and active individuals across the region. 'Saudi Arabia represents a key pillar in our long-term growth strategy. The acquisition of PhysioTrio expands our footprint in the Kingdom and aligns with our vision to elevate access to high-quality, specialized physiotherapy and wellness services. Through this integration, we are accelerating our efforts to support the Kingdom's healthcare transformation and the goals of Vision 2030,' said Mr. Safeer Ahamed, Co-CEO of Burjeel Holdings. Renowned for its leadership in sports rehabilitation and wellness, PhysioTherabia will empower the facility to scale its services, streamline operations, and better address the evolving healthcare needs of the local community. Integration into the network will provide access to centralized protocols, AI-driven assessment tools, and standardized training programs, ensuring consistent, high-quality care. 'This expansive network provides a solid foundation to elevate the services of the newly integrated facility, enabling the delivery of advanced rehabilitation programs and strengthening access to high-quality physiotherapy care across the region,' said Abdulmohsen Al Ashry, Regional CEO – KSA at Burjeel Holdings. This expansion builds on Burjeel's recent initiatives in the Kingdom, including the integration of Aspris Healthcare, a mental health platform in Riyadh, through its joint venture Alkalma. The Group is also advancing its presence in day surgery, digital health, and complex care delivery to contribute meaningfully to Saudi Arabia's healthcare ambitions.

Hospital's ‘Smokers Lounge' turns heads on tobacco awareness
A hospital may be the last place you'd expect to find a Smokers Lounge. But on World No Tobacco Day, Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi and Burjeel Day Surgery Center on Al Reem Island challenged that assumption boldly and unexpectedly. The activation stirred online conversation, racking up over 400,000 views, 8,000 likes, 5,100+ shares, and hundreds of comments – generating total engagement of more than 13,000. Part of the 'Unmasking the Flavours' campaign, the initiative aims to spotlight the deceptive appeal of flavored vapes and their long-term health consequences. The campaign's message, 'Flavours fade. Cancer doesn't,' becomes especially powerful after a breath test or health screening. Visitors were drawn to what looked like a luxurious smoking area, complete with stylish interiors and soft lighting. However, smoking was not allowed. Instead, the lounge served as a powerful anti-tobacco experience, offering lung function tests and confronting guests with the harsh realities of tobacco and vape-related harm. What seemed like a space for relaxation quickly turned into a moment of reflection, prompting visitors to think critically about their habits. The concept was developed by Burjeel's in-house marketing team. They set out to challenge conventional awareness efforts by flipping expectations and sparking curiosity. As a world-first concept in a clinical setting, the experience resonated deeply with visitors and created interesting discussions both on the ground and online. 'I walked in thinking it was a place to relax, maybe even a spot for smokers. But once I saw the message and did the lung test, it really hit me. It made me think seriously about quitting. I've never seen a hospital try something like this before,' said one visitor. With its immersive design and thought-provoking approach, the Smokers Lounge has done more than raise awareness. It has started important conversations about smoking and health. The lounges ran for two weeks, launching on May 29 across multiple units in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The campaign was supported by a video, shared across Burjeel's social media platforms.

Burjeel announces acquisition of Medeor 24×7 Hospital in Dubai
Burjeel has acquired the Medeor 24x7 Hospital building located in Dubai in a deal valued at Dh170m ($46.28m) for optimising long-term cost structure. This strategic decision is in line with the group's strategy to improve operational control and minimise fixed lease liabilities. Situated near BurJuman in Bur Dubai, the Medeor 24x7 Hospital operated under a long-term lease earlier with a remaining commitment of Dh343m over the next 15 years. The latest acquisition removes a substantial fixed rental liability. The acquisition grants Burjeel full control over the hospital's operations, ensuring continuity and protecting the brand's equity. It also eliminates the risks associated with potential relocation, providing operational flexibility for future expansions and service diversification. Its prime location and robust patient volumes support Burjeel's growth plans in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. These regions are identified as key areas for increasing presence due to strong demographic demand and service scalability. Burjeel Holdings CEO John Sunil said: "By transitioning from leasehold to ownership in a key market, we reinforce our operational resilience and strengthen our platform for growth. 'Dubai, along with the Northern Emirates, remains a central focus of our expansion strategy, and securing full control of this asset enables us to deepen our presence and better serve these high-demand markets." Medeor 24x7 Hospital, established in 2015, is a multi-specialty family hospital offering services including congenital malformation surgeries of the brain and spine, mother and childcare, cardiology, urology, pulmonology. It is accredited by the Joint Commission International and features a laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists. The move comes after Burjeel has inaugurated four new centres under its Alkalma mental health and well-being platform to broaden access to specialised mental healthcare. Burjeel launches four centres under Alkalma mental health platform
UAE healthcare provider Burjeel has inaugurated four new centres under its Alkalma mental health and well-being platform to broaden access to specialised mental healthcare. This comes via the integration of Aspris Healthcare facilities. These facilities are situated at Dubai's City Walk, Dubai Healthcare City, Abu Dhabi's Al Bateen, and Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District. They offer a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs through one-on-one sessions as well as group and family therapy. The alignment with Alkalma's values ensures that each centre contributes to a larger ecosystem focused on prevention, availability, and overall health, stated Burjeel. The four centres together offer an annual capacity for around 90,000 consultations. Burjeel CEO John Sunil said: 'Integrating these centres into our ecosystem marks a pivotal step in realising our vision for a regional mental health platform rooted in Alkalma's values of clinical excellence and inclusivity. It enables us to expand access to high-quality care while accelerating the delivery of outcomes that matter to patients and health systems alike.' The launch signifies the initial stage, which will be a multi-phase strategy aimed at expanding coverage within key urban markets while adopting Keralty's evidence-based care models. By doing so, Alkalma aims not only to address growing demand but also achieve improvements in both healthcare outcomes and economic efficiency. Alkalma was initiated as a joint venture between Burjeel Holdings and Keralty, a Colombian healthcare company pioneering value-based care internationally. Looking ahead, there are plans for these centres to be fully incorporated into one cohesive brand identity, along with increasing their clinical capabilities. Additionally, Alkalma will roll out digital platforms for reaching communities within this sector. The joint venture is also exploring potential expansions into additional locales throughout the UAE and Saudi Arabia as part of its regional growth ambitions. Alkalma CEO Emilio Herrera said: 'At Alkalma, we believe a healthcare system is defined by how it supports those most in need. There is no health without mental health. Establishing our presence in the UAE and Saudi Arabia reflects our commitment to advancing national priorities and bringing the best scientific evidence, the highest quality of care, to serve the community. This is only the beginning.' "Burjeel launches four centres under Alkalma mental health platform" was originally created and published by Hospital Management, a GlobalData owned brand.
