Cotswold hotel launches its own bespoke grill

A STROUD hotel has launched its own bespoke grill. Burleigh Court, situated between Stroud and Minchinhampton, has teamed up with well-known wine expert Cicely Elliott Berry to open the grill on their new outdoor terrace kitchen area. Cicely is an award-winning British entrepreneur, recognised as the director and co-founder of Sibling Distillery in Cheltenham and the owner of Our House, a wine and cocktail bar in Gloucester. She launched the grill by holding an evening of food and drink, choosing a wine for each course. The evening was the start of a new partnership between the hotel and Cicely. The food on the evening was cooked on the new grill and its various parts were tested by the fire cooking guru and head chef of Burleigh Court, Duncan Wales. The business collaboration was part of plans for further work with outside foodie and drink companies as part of Burleigh's plans to not only be a hotel but a foodie destination. Tom Leahy, one of the managers of the hotel said: "It was great to have Cicely come along and talk to the guests about the wine and drink choices. "We think we have something here that appeals to all, especially in the summer. "The new cooking area in the terrace is exciting and I enjoyed getting involved with the cooking. "The food looked almost as good as the views from the garden over the valleys." Stroud hotel creates its own pizza to celebrate local produce

A STROUD hotel has created its own pizza to celebrate local produce. Burleigh Court Hotel, positioned between Minchinhampton and Stroud, has crafted the Five Valleys Pizza paying homage to their surroundings and regular suppliers. This distinctive pizza features Burleigh honey and Stroud Brewery cider-braised pulled pork, crowned with a wild lettuce salad and wild garlic dressing, foraged from the hotel's vicinity. The innovative idea was conceived by the kitchen team when brainstorming for a staff lunch. Hotel manager Tom Leahy said: "We are surrounded by amazing produce, why not use it in one simple dish that everyone loves – who doesn't like pizza?" "Our pizza nights, Friday and Saturday, are a great opportunity to showcase the great farmers and producers we have in this area and combine all the flavours to create something special. "I have tried it and although the other pizzas are good, this is the one for me." To book a table, visit or call 01453 883804.
