Security outside Gallaghers' childhood home still lived in by their mum as Oasis reunion hits Manchester
Security has been spotted outside Liam and Noel Gallaghers' childhood home as fans flooding into Manchester for the band's legendary reunion gigs have visited the area as part of their pilgrimage to Oasis's home city. The house is still lived in by their mother Peggy, who has been there for around 50 years. She has always refused to leave the home where she raised her sons. A security guard was seen patrolling the street outside the Burnage house as fans congregated to snap pictures of the house and take selfies in front of it. The Gallaghers are back in their hometown ready to perform the first of five gigs at Heaton Park. They will perform there on Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12. They will then return to perform there on Wednesday, July 16, Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. It follows their historic first gigs on stage together in 16 years at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Fans filtering out of the Principality Stadium gave glowing reviews to our reporters, describing it as "the best gig ever", "ten out of ten" and "worth every penny." Others described it as "absolutely amazing" and "an emotional, out of body experience." The media also lauded the return of the band, with publications across the world united in its assessments to give the gig five stars. This included WalesOnline's Kathryn Williams who described Liam's voice as "faultless." The city was abuzz with Oasis fever for an entire weekend, with merchandise stores, an exhibition of priceless items displayed and its music pumping out of most pubs. The vibe appears to be the same in Manchester, with the Manchester Evening News reporting how weeks the city has come alive with murals, mosaics, art trails, and pop-up shops and an Oasis fan store. Tickets for the Oasis reunion sold out across all venues due to huge demand when they went online earlier in the year. However, there are still several options available for fans trying to snag a last-minute spot. Limited last-minute tickets can be bought from the official Ticketmaster resale site, where fans who can no longer go can sell their seats, although these tend to go in and out of stock quickly. Elsewhere, resale sites like Viagogo, Vivid Seats, StubHub, and Twickets are selling tickets for various dates with prices from £121, although fans should always bear in mind that many official sites, such as Ticketmaster and Live Nation, discourage the purchase of resale tickets.

Stay connected with our City Life newsletter here Each concert is forecast to generate in £55.4 million in fan spending, according to the business and finance firm Novuna. This, they say, will have a 'net local economic impact' of £95.7 million. Local pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops and transport services are among those who will see a huge boost. According to the forecast, £63.2m has been spent on tickets and £17.4m on accommodation, with a further £50m to be spent on travel, including journeys to and within the city region. Join our Oasis WhatsApp group HERE Another £63.8m is expected to be forked out on food and drink, £54m on shopping and leisure across the region, and £28.6m on merchandise. Theresa Lindsay, Chief Marketing Officer at Novuna Personal Finance, said: 'Oasis are one of Manchester's most iconic exports, so it's no surprise that fans here are leading the charge with spending on one of the most highly anticipated reunions in years. "With almost £100 million in net local benefit expected from just five nights, this is proof that live music powers our cities far beyond the arena gates. It's a major economic event. 'From pre-show drinks to overnight stays, this tour will bring life to every corner of the city – and showcase Manchester's global pull as a music capital.' The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce say their own estimate is that the shows could be worth more than £100 million. Subrahmaniam Krishnan-Harihara, Deputy Director of Research, said: "Up to 80,000 are expected to attend each of the five concerts Oasis have coming up in Heaton Park. "Assuming an average ticket price of £150 (tickets were priced at between £100 - £210), that is £60 million worth of direct ticket sales. "Taking into account spending on travel, accommodation, food and merchandise, the total economic value could be up to £100 million or more.' Around 1.3 million fans are expected at music events in the region this summer. Manchester City Council say that last year alone music and culture had a 'multiplier effect' on other businesses in Manchester and generated an economic impact of more than £342m for the city, as well as supporting more than 4,800 jobs. John Hacking, the town hall's Executive Member for Skills, Employment and Leisure said: "Manchester is known the world over for our fantastic music scene with music tourism bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors into the city every year. "The additional boost to the city's economy - already one of the fastest growing in Europe - from music fans attending events in the city is huge, and is felt right across the wider hospitality and retail sector, with thousands of pounds spent by them in our hotels, bars, restaurants and shops. "The overall positive economic impact on Manchester and the wider city region from the Oasis gigs is expected to be felt across the hospitality and retail sector - from taxi firms to local pubs, bars and restaurants, many of whom are already making plans to take advantage of this temporary boost to their customer numbers."
