Twin Cities volleyball coach charged with sexually assaulting 17-year-old player
Twin Cities volleyball coach charged with sexually assaulting 17-year-old player originally appeared on Bring Me The News. A volleyball coach from Burnsville has been charged with sexually assaulting one of her underage players. Brooke Reinhardt, 24, of Rosemount, is charged with three counts 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct by someone in a position of authority, with the victim a 17-year-old boy. Reinhardt is listed as the coach of the Burnsville High School varsity boys volleyball team. According to the charges, a man found the 17-year-old's wallet in his apartment after returning from being out of state between June 23 and 29. The man said Reinhardt had been looking after his home while he was out of town, and that the victim "had never been in [his] home and had no reason to be," the complaint states. When he called Reinhardt about the discovery and told her he was upset with what he found, she allegedly said "okay" and "okay, bye." The 17-year-old was interviewed and said he'd forgotten his wallet and that his coach, Reinhardt, had sent him a text saying he'd forgotten it in her car, saying that she had given him a ride to practice in Maple Grove on June 28, before bringing him home. The teen initially told police that his relationship with Reinhardt was that of a "coach and athlete" and that she was nice, but they had not spent any time together other than for playing volleyball. When the victim allowed officers to check his phone, they allegedly found texts from Reinhardt telling him "he had a lot of things to delete," the complaint states, as well as texts about condoms. The victim then told officers Reinhardt had been helping him with a social situation that led to them hanging out more often. This allegedly led to them getting food together, and then "kissing," with the teen saying they had started "dating" two to three months earlier. After initially saying it had not progressed beyond kissing and watching TV, the teen allegedly admitted when asked about the condom texts that "they had penetrative sex," per the complaint. He claimed the first time happened at Reinhardt's Rosemount house about a month earlier, with the second time at the Burnsville apartment on June 28. The teen also said Reinhardt had sent him nude pictures. Reinhardt was arrested on July 2 and during interview, she claimed the boy had left his wallet in her car after she drove him to practice, and described their relationship as coach and player. She later allegedly admitted that in May she had engaged in sexual acts in her vehicle with the boy, and admitted to having sex with him at her house, the boy's house, and the Burnsville man's apartment. She also admitted sending the boy nude pictures. WCCO reports Reinhardt was hired in September 2023, with Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District saying that while it can't release personnel information, it is fully cooperating with police on the matter "and will take appropriate actions as dictated by district policies and state law." Burnsville High School boys volleyball coach charged with criminal sexual conduct
A Twin Cities high school boys volleyball coach faces criminal sexual conduct charges. Prosecutors allege Brooke Reinhardt, 24, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old player. Her alleged conduct was discovered after the victim's wallet was found at the home of a friend for whom Reinhardt was housesitting, a criminal complaint states. The friend said the victim "had never been in [his] residence and had no reason to be." When police interviewed the victim, he initially said he "had not spent any time with just [Reinhardt] aside from their sport." After police found texts on his phone from Reinhardt saying "he had a lot of things to delete," as well as "texts about condoms," he admitted to the criminal sexual conduct, the complaint states. Reinhardt also denied the conduct initially, but later admitted it, according to the complaint. She faces three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct. Reinhardt was hired by the district in September 2023 and was listed on the Burnsville High School boys' volleyball page as the sole coach. In a letter to families, the district wrote in part, "The District is limited by state law on the information we can release regarding personnel, but please know that we have and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement regarding this matter, and will take appropriate actions as dictated by district policies and state law. In regard to Reinhardt's status with the school, the district said she "is a coach only and doesn't hold any other position." 'You missed': New details emerge as teens charged in Burnsville graduation night shooting
'You missed': New details emerge as teens charged in Burnsville graduation night shooting originally appeared on Bring Me The News. Two 18-year-olds from Bloomington and Shakopee are facing drive-by shooting charges in connection to an incident following the Burnsville High School graduation ceremony on Friday, June 6. Abdulahi Jama Ali, of Shakopee, and Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab, of Bloomington, were charged Monday in Dakota County District Court, Ali is charged with two counts of drive-by shooting and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Abdiwahab is facing two drive-by shooting charges and other counts for aiding an offender. According to the criminal complaint, gunshots rang out west of Burnsville High School around 8:30 p.m., which was approximately 30 minutes after the graduation ceremony concluded. The shots were fired after police on scene had already broken up "several physical altercations" and attempted to disperse two groups who were "flashing gang signs towards each other." Ali and Abdiwahab were arrested after bystanders pointed police in the direction of the black Toyota Camry they were in. Abdiwahab was driving and Ali was in the front passenger seat, according to the complaint. While arresting the duo, officers heard a bystander shout, "Ksoe, you missed. You dumb ass. You missed." The complaint claims that Ali's nickname is "Ksoe." Further investigation revealed, allegedly, that the bystander who mocked "Ksoe" for missing was seen earlier — by witnesses in a vehicle behind the Toyota Camry — approach the Camry and talk with the duo before he "tried to punch the Camry" before the witness "saw the barrel of a gun come out of the front passenger window and open fire." Police found a handgun with an extended magazine under the front passenger seat. They also found one bullet casing on the driver's side floorboard and two more casings on the street by the vehicle. One bullet fragment was found lodged into the headlight of a vehicle parked nearby. Abdiwahab allegedly waived his Miranda rights and claimed he didn't shoot a gun and didn't know anything about a gun being shot. He also said he didn't know how a gun wound up in his car. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension collected DNA samples from the gun, Ali and Abdiwahab for analysis. No one was physically injured in the shooting. Charges filed in drive-by shooting outside Burnsville High School graduation
Charges were filed Monday after gunshots were fired outside the Burnsville High School graduation on Friday night. No one was injured. The Dakota County Attorney's Office said in criminal complaints: Officers were working security and crowd control outside the high school. They were aware that two groups of people 'were arguing and flashing gang signs towards each other as officers were attempting to disperse the groups. Officers also broke up several physical altercations between the groups that evening.' At about 8:30 p.m., officers heard gunshots coming from the west side of the school. Bystanders directed them to a Toyota Camry, and officers detained the driver and front-seat passenger. The driver was identified as Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab, 18, of Bloomington, and the passenger as Abdulahi Jama Ali, 18, of Shakopee. A bystander was heard saying, 'Ksoe, you missed. You dumb (expletive).' Officers learned Ali's nickname is 'Ksoe.' The bystander was wearing a leopard print or camo jacket. Witnesses reported the Camry's driver was driving recklessly and almost hit another vehicle. They saw a person in a leopard print jacket approach the Camry's passenger side, talk with the occupants and try to punch the Camry with his fist. A barrel of a gun then came out the front passenger window and someone opened fire. Officers found a handgun with an extended magazine under the front passenger seat and a bullet casing on the driver's side floorboard. They also found two bullet casings on the street and a parked vehicle with a bullet fragment in the driver's side headlight. Abdiwahab later told officers he hadn't fired a gun and said his DNA wouldn't be found on the gun taken from the Camry. DNA swabs were taken from the handgun and from Ali, after police obtained a search warrant, and are pending analysis at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Abdiwahab is charged with two counts each of aiding and abetting a drive-by shooting and aiding an offender. Ali is charged with second-degree assault and two counts of drive-by shooting. Both are jailed. The county attorney's office is seeking $200,00 bail or $100,000 with conditions for Abdiwahab, saying that he fired at least three shots from a handgun toward another person and an unoccupied vehicle after the graduation ceremony 'when all attendees were attempting to leave the area,' which was 'a great risk to public safety,' according to a memo about bail. Ali 'continued to drive from the scene and provided false and misleading information to law enforcement to prevent them from identifying' Abdiwahab as the shooter, said another memo about bail. The prosecution is requesting $160,000 bail or $80,000 with conditions. Two other people were arrested in the incident. It wasn't immediately clear if they would be charged Monday. The Friday before Burnsville's graduation, two people were injured in a shooting outside Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota after the Wayzata High School graduation ceremony. 2 charged in shots fired incident outside Burnsville High School
Two 18-year-old men face felony charges for their alleged involvement in an attempted shooting outside Burnsville High School after a graduation ceremony. Police were already at the school Friday night for "security and crowd control," a criminal complaint said, when two groups began "arguing and flashing gang signs towards each other." Around 8:30 p.m., police heard gunshots near the high school and went to investigate. Bystanders pointed officers to a nearby vehicle, inside of which were the two men now charged. Inside the car, police found a handgun with an extended magazine and a bullet casing, the complaint states. Two more bullet casings were found on the street nearby, and a vehicle in the area had a bullet in one of its headlights. Witnesses said one of the men charged was driving the car when someone in a leopard print jacket approached the passenger side and talked with the occupants. When the person in the jacket tried to punch the car, witnesses said, someone pointed a gun out of the passenger's side window and started shooting. No one was hurt, police said. Both men charged denied firing the gun, but according to the complaint, a nickname used by someone at the scene identified one of the men as the shooter. Both men are charged with two counts of drive-by shooting, a criminal complaint shows. One also faces a second-degree assault charge, and the other is charged with two additional counts of aiding an offender. Four people in total were arrested after the incident, which prompted a large law enforcement response. Note: The video above originally aired June 7, 2025.
