IK's pre-arrest bail plea: Court doesn't hear arguments
ISLAMABAD: A local court on Wednesday did not hear arguments on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan's pre-arrest bail petition in six separate cases due to his non-appearance before it. District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, while hearing bail applications in six cases against Khan, adjourned the case without proceedings till September 19. The court during the previous hearing had issued orders to produce Khan via video link before it, in six cases registered against him at Tarnol, Kohsar, Karachi Company, Ramna, and Secretariat police stations. The court has also not announced its reserved judgment over Khan's wife Bushra Bibi's pre-arrest bail plea in a case registered against her and others at Kohsar police station for allegedly submitting fake receipts for buying and selling items obtained from Tosha khana. PTI lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry appeared on behalf of the PTI founding chairman. Kohsar police station registered a first information report (FIR) against Bushra Bibi, and PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) including Section 420, for allegedly presenting fake receipts for buying and selling items obtained from the state's gift repository known as Tosha khana. Azma accuses PTI of pursuing well-planned ‘coercive strategy'
LAHORE: It is well rehearsed strategy of PTI to coerce their political opponents as well as state machinery through abuse, allegations, claiming victimhood and outright lies. Back in 2023, they would call any arrest of their leaders or workers by police as 'Abduction'. This is a classic example of narrative manipulation. Despite being champions of accountability before and during their tenure in power, PTI after losing power labels any action by law enforcement agencies as persecution. PTI leaders and supporters have been incessantly speaking lies about IK's legal cases and his imprisonment. Facts are completely opposite to what PTI wants world to believe. All cases have been registered as per law and despite delaying tactics of defence team of IK, enough leeway was granted by trial courts. Defence has not been able to refute authenticity of the cases, rather they have relied on fine points of procedure coupled with delaying tactics. IK & Bushra Bibi remained direct beneficiaries of misappropriation. Either be it Toshakhana Cases or 190 million pounds case, both husband and wife drew financial gains. In all cases where IK or Bushra Bibi were convicted they availed right of appeal and duly benefited from it. In number of cases verdict was overturned or sentence was suspended. The man who while in power used to arrogantly announce that he would remove AC from prison cell of his political opponents, is himself enjoying unprecedented facilities in jail. He has been given a complex comprising seven cells with a corridor for walk. He has also got an exercise cycle, TV, newspaper and books to read. All never known to other prisoners who are authorized Class B jail. IK remains abreast with current affairs and gives directions to his party accordingly. His X handle regularly posts his remarks. Since his imprisonment, IK has tweeted 413 times. He has delivered messages to party workers through his X account on all major political developments like General Elections 2024, Bye Elections in Sambrial, PTI protest in Islamabad on 26 Nov 2024, dialogue with government or enactment of 26th Constitutional Amendment. IK's statements regularly make headlines in domestic print media like, his denouncement of budget published in The News on 11 Jun 25, comments on India – Pakistan war published in Dawn on 14 May 25 or rejection of ISPR statement published in Express Tribune on 31 Dec 24. In less than past 12 months i.e period from Aug 2024 till to date, IK's statements have made headlines on 45 occasions. IK has been giving interviews to international media as well, unprecedented for a convict. Since 2024, IK has had at least ten interactions with international media including Fox News, WSJ, ITV, Reuters, The Telegraph and others. IK also frequently shuffles his party leadership. Most of it can be ascribed to almost unrestricted access of party leaders to him, who frequently lobby against each other. In previous three months 66 x people met IK including party leaders, family members and lawyers. He has been also making calls to his two sons in UK. However, insiders have revealed that on many occasions they have refused to take his call citing other priority commitments. Claims that IK is being politically victimized have no solid basis. These are deliberate attempts to turn legal accountability into political drama to weaken public trust in the justice system. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Imran, Bushra move IHC for expedited hearing of sentence suspension pleas in £190m case
Listen to article Former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have filed an application with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) requesting an expedited hearing for their pleas to suspend their convictions in the £190 million case. Earlier in January, Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were convicted in the £190 million case. Imran Khan was sentenced to 14 years in prison, while Bushra Bibi received a seven-year jail term. Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana announced the order in a courtroom inside Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. In addition to the prison sentences, the court imposed fines of Rs1 million on Imran and Rs500,000 on Bushra. If the fines are not paid, Imran Khan will serve an additional six months in prison, and Bushra Bibi will face an extra three months. The verdict also declared that the property of the "sham trust," Al-Qadir University Project Trust, is to be forfeited to the Federal Government in accordance with Section 10(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. According to documents available to Express Tribune, the petitions were filed through Barrister Salman Safdar on Tuesday, urging the court to schedule a hearing 'without any further delay, as the petitions involve the fundamental issues of liberty and freedom." Read More: Imran, Bushra convicted in £190m case The petition further highlights that the announcement of the judgment has been delayed three times, raising concerns about the fairness and transparency of the judicial process. The petition states, 'The appeal against the conviction was duly filed on 27.01.2025. However, the Registrar's Office raised objections, which were later removed, causing unnecessary delays.' Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi expressed concerns over repeated delays caused by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), which has sought adjournments in the case. Despite assurances from the court, the suspension of sentences has not yet been reviewed. 'NAB has repeatedly sought adjournments on the pretext of engaging special prosecutors in this matter,' the petition says. The petition points out that the case had already been scheduled for hearings four times. However, despite assurances to the counsel that a short adjournment would be given and a proper date would be set to decide the suspension petitions, no date has been provided yet. Also Read: Imran, wife move IHC for bail in £190m case It further notes that the Special Prosecutor appeared at the next hearing but again sought additional time. 'The applicant is facing repeated prosecutions, and in two cases, he has already been acquitted, while in the Toshakhana case, this Honourable Court suspended his sentence with the consent of the prosecutor,' the petition adds. The plea argues that, given the urgency of the matter and the nature of the relief sought, there should be no legal or procedural barriers preventing the scheduling of the application for sentence suspension. This application directly concerns the fundamental right to liberty, guaranteed under the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973. The petition further states that the right to be treated according to the law is a fundamental right under Article 4 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which is being denied to the applicants due to unjust delays. Liberty, guaranteed under Article 9, is also being violated as the request for sentence suspension continues to be unduly delayed. Despite judicial policy prioritising bail and suspension applications, the applicants' case is being deprioritised without legal justification. What is the £190 million case? The case alleges that Imran Khan and others involved adjusted Rs50 billion—equivalent to £190 million at the time—that was transferred by the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government. As PM, Imran Khan obtained cabinet approval for this settlement on December 3, 2019, without disclosing the confidential details of the agreement. The arrangement had stipulated that the funds would be submitted to the Supreme Court. Also Read: Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi indicted in Toshakhana 2.0 case According to NAB officials, Imran and his wife received land worth billions of rupees intended for the construction of an educational institute. NAB filed the reference on December 1, 2023 against eight accused persons including Imran and his wife. The court on January 6, 2024 declared the rest of six accused proclaimed offenders as they did not face the trial and escaped to foreign countries. The court indicted Imran and Bushra on February 27, 2024. The prosecution presented 35 witnesses, whom the defense later cross-examined. Key witnesses in the case included PM's former principal secretary Azam Khan, former defense minister Pervez Khattak and former federal minister Zubaida Jalal. Three different judges presided over the case at various stages of the trial while the final investigative officer, Mian Umar Nadeem, was cross-examined after 38 hearings. The accountability court provided the accused 15 opportunities to complete their statements under Section 342. However, no witnesses were presented by the defence.

3 Wives, 5 Children Out Of Wedlock: All About Imran Khan's Life
Last Updated: Imran Khan and his Bushra Bibi are currently imprisoned in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail after being convicted in a corruption case. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is never out of the limelight, both for personal and political reasons. The cricketer turned politician has had a flamboyant and controversial life, thanks to his multiple weddings, dozens of affairs and five children out of wedlock. Married twice before, Imran is currently in his third innings, wedded to Bushra Bibi. Both are currently imprisoned in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail after being convicted in a corruption case. Imran Khan And Jemima Goldsmith Imran Khan's first wife was British journalist and screenwriter Jemima Goldsmith. The former couple got married in 1995 and welcomed two baby boys, Sulaiman Isa Khan and Kasim Khan. Nearly a decade after exchanging vows, the duo ended the marriage in 2004. Despite the differences, both maintain a cordial relationship and have continued to co-parent their kids even after the divorce. Imran Khan And Reham Khan In October 2014, Imran Khan found love again with Reham Khan, a British-Pakistani journalist, author and film producer. Out of all three marriages of Imran, it was the shortest one as they filed for divorce within a year of getting married in October 2014. This one did not end on a good note, as Reham announced a tell-all 'biography' wherein she made allegations of domestic abuse and adultery against the star Pakistani all-rounder. Imran Khan And Bushra Bibi Bushra Bibi, the third wife of Imran Khan, is a Pakistani politician. She was earlier married to Khawar Maneka, the son of former Pakistani federal minister Ghulam Muhammad Maneka. Bushra has five children from her first marriage– three daughters and two sons. She parted ways from Khawar in 2017. A year after her divorce, Bushra got married to Imran Khan. Their union triggered a controversy as the cleric present during their wedding rituals testified that the Bushra was in her iddat period at the time of the wedding with Imran. Iddat is a waiting period of three months, which must be observed by a Muslim woman after the death of her husband or the dissolution of her earlier marriage. Imran Khan's Children Out Of Wedlock In the 500-odd-page biography, Reham Khan gave graphic details on Imran Khan's 'preferences" as she opened up about the former Prime Minister's 'confessions" about his illegitimate children. Back in 2018, Reham wrote in the book, 'He told me he has five, including Indian children." Reham, in the book, also shared that she had asked him why the women did not go public about Imran Khan being the father of their kids. To this, the politician responded that the women did not want to ruin their current marriages, as she claimed in her book. Notably, there is no evidence for the allegations made by Reham Khan against her ex-husband Imran Khan.
